Though Cocoyasi Village was somewhat renowned nearby, its people's spirit starkly contrasted with Baratie's lively crowd.

Faces on the streets were hopeless, zombie-like, despair tainting the air.

This, perhaps, was the true One Piece world—pigs ruling above, high-ranking navy scavenging amid the rot, and pirate scum burning, killing, and looting lives away.

"Sir, you a foreigner?"

Barely stepping into Cocoyasi Village, a man with a windmill hat approached, tension etched on his face.

Oh, my old father-in-law-to-be?

Facing Genzo, Allen kept a polite air.

"Yeah, I'm sailing the seas, need some fruit. Heard you sell oranges here, so I stopped by."

Genzo hesitated, then pointed to a nearby hillside.

"There's an orange grove that way. Need more, head there. But it's restless around here—best leave quick after buying."

"Thanks for the heads-up!"

Allen nodded courteously and strode toward Nami and Nojiko's home.

Sure, he could crush Arlong in a second, but why rush? Killing Arlong before meeting Nami and Nojiko wouldn't milk their gratitude to the max.

Not just a favor—a sly play for their hearts.

Allen ambled up the dirt path, a faint citrus scent wafting from the groves, briefly enchanting him.

From the slope's base, he spotted a girl with short lavender hair plucking oranges.

Even from afar, her silhouette screamed elegance—waist, chest, hips in perfect harmony!

"As expected of a woman raised on the same fare as my wife. Stunning figure! That tattoo for her sister's sake—gorgeous!"

Only facing anime characters stirred Allen's old-world spark.

Thirty years back, as a famed pirate, he'd met breathtaking women, but they'd left him cold—mutual needs, nothing more.

Last flicker of interest? A young Shakky. Shame she was retiring when they crossed paths—a beauty he couldn't charm. Too busy then, or he'd have cuckolded Rayleigh decades early!

"What do you want?"

Nojiko, having filled a basket, turned as Allen approached. His warm gaze flushed her cheeks as she stretched.

"Oh? Here to buy oranges."

Before sailing off, Allen had raided a pirate ship. East Blue pirates were dirt-poor—just over a million Berry on that hulking vessel!

"400 Berry each—thanks for stopping by!"

Nojiko smiled at his intent, darting to her fresh-picked basket, bagging oranges.

"This one's big—gotta add it! This one looks sweet—can't miss it!"

She snuck peeks at Allen's face while packing. When the bag bulged, she swapped it for an empty basket.

Allen's expression stayed steady, fueling Nojiko's glee.

A big spender today—maybe tens of thousands of Berry!

A faint bell tolled from the village below. Nojiko's face darkened. Dropping the basket, she grabbed Allen's hand and bolted inside.

"Hide with me—trouble's coming!"

"What's up?"

Allen felt the warmth of her small, smooth hand—how did a worker's hands stay so soft?

Before he could ask, Nojiko shoved him into the bedroom and shut the door from outside.

"Nojiko, time to pay this month's cash!"

A green-skinned fishman in sunglasses swaggered in as the door clicked.

"Oh, right."

Nojiko pulled 100,000 Berry from the living room table drawer, handing it over blankly.

She'd prepped it—more risked fishman theft. 100,000 was the sweet spot.

For Nami's sake, the fishman didn't hassle her. He nodded and left.

It just collected cash—monthly dues meant Arlong's reward.

"What's going on?"

Allen poked his head out, curious.

The orange-scented bedroom was nice, but snagging Nami and Nojiko trumped it.

Rooms could swap daily once they were his!

"N-nothing… I'll bag your oranges now. Buy 'em and go—it's not safe here."

Nojiko's face dimmed. Each fishman collection dredged up Bell-mère's sacrifice eight years ago.

"Cool, I'll grab more then!"

Allen didn't pry. His Observation Haki had clocked Nami's return when he hit the island—now he was just setting the stage.

Meanwhile, in Fishman Paradise, Nami strode from her house, a black sack slung over her back.

"Hey, Nami—heading home?"

Fishmen splashing in the pond grinned at her.

Her stomach churned, but she flashed a cheery wave back.

Arlong, perched in his central chair, eyed her sack with a mocking smirk.

"How'd Nami do this time?"

"Not bad!"

Her smile fueled Arlong's curled lips.

"Gotta be—betraying humans is your specialty!"

Nami's fake grin stiffened. Her nails dug into her palms, pain forcing another smile.

"Arlong, you get me. Off home now!"

Fishmen guffaws chased her from Fishman Paradise. Hatred seethed beneath her mask as she trekked to Cocoyasi alone.

Seeing the village always washed away her woes—its people drove her on!

Even their blank stares as she passed only stung a little.

Once her plan worked, freedom would return—she'd spill the truth, and life would normalize!

Mood lifting, Nami's haul felt lighter. This trip might hit 100 million Berry!

Her steps quickened, jewels and Berry weightless, as she climbed home.

From afar, she saw Nojiko picking oranges with a man, chatting and smiling unconsciously.

"Nojiko, I'm back!"

Nami grinned mischievously, pouncing on Nojiko's back, peering up at Allen.

"Who's this? No intro for me?"
