FGO System in the Type-Moon World

Chapter 29: Chapter 0030: The Role of the Noble Phantasm

"Well then, now that we're on the same side, let's take this time to rest. Our final battle is about to begin."

After forming a contract with Artoria, the person most surprised was Artoria herself.

A Servant is constantly consuming magical energy at all times.

However, the moment the contract was completed, her mana consumption completely vanished.

As a Servant, she could immediately sense that this mana wasn't coming from Reiji Souma, but rather from somewhere else entirely.

Noticing her confusion, Souma chuckled lightly.

"This is thanks to Tamamo's Noble Phantasm. You'll get used to it."

"Besides, I still need some time to prepare for the final battle."

"You guys can chat among yourselves."

With that, Souma turned and headed back to his room.

In the courtyard of Ryuudou Temple, the four Servants exchanged glances, falling into a brief silence.

Originally, contracting Artoria was just a test of fate for Souma.

If she agreed, he would sign her. If she refused, he would kill her and take the Saint Quartz.

To be honest, if he ignored personal emotions, the second option was far more logical.

But…

Recruiting Artoria unexpectedly granted Souma a major surprise.

[Congratulations! You have acquired Avalon and bonded with Servant—Artoria Pendragon.]

[Artoria successfully bound.]

[Servants bound via Holy relics will not grant special abilities.]

[Congratulations! The "Noble Phantasm" system has been unlocked.]

A flood of system notifications forced Souma to retreat to his room and investigate further.

The first few messages were easy to understand.

Artoria had been system-bound, seemingly due to Avalon.

He didn't need to spend three Saint Quartz, but in exchange, he didn't receive any personal ability from her.

However, the newly unlocked [Noble Phantasm] system immediately caught Souma's attention.

As expected, when he opened his FGO menu, he saw a new tab added to the existing ones:

[Noble Phantasms]

With a thought, he selected the tab, and inside, there was only one entry:

Avalon

——Obtained when holding Avalon and contracting Servant: Artoria Pendragon.

A Noble Phantasm?

Souma blinked. Then, without hesitation, he activated it.

The Power of Avalon

In an instant, golden light enveloped his body.

Though the effect lasted only for a brief moment, the feeling it gave him was incredibly unique.

It was as if—

——This light could block all attacks.

And it felt like he could extend this defense to a much wider range.

The only limitation was that it only lasted for an instant.

"If this really has Avalon's level of defense…"

Souma smirked.

"Then fighting that chuunibyou Golden Boy just became a lot easier."

With that thought, Souma took out the Lesser Grail.

Then, without hesitation, he used it on the Black Dog.

The Lesser Grail's effect was completely different from the game's version.

It didn't raise level caps (since levels didn't exist in reality). Instead, it functioned exactly like it did in the Fate storyline. It granted an immense surge of magical energy and unlocked the Black Dog's strongest potential.

After all, in FGO's America Singularity, a Black Dog enhanced by the Grail was able to survive a god-killing Noble Phantasm.

That was the true power of an unleashed Black Dog!

After making his final preparations, Souma adjusted his hoodie and pushed open his room's door.

Outside, the four Servants were still gathered in the courtyard.

However, all three of them had their eyes locked onto the Black Dog.

Though his appearance and aura hadn't changed, the surge of magical energy radiating from him was impossible to ignore.

"Berserker," Souma called out.

"The next battle will be the final one of this Holy Grail War."

"Do you have confidence?"

The Black Dog glanced at Souma, then grinned.

"Of course."

Souma nodded, then turned to the other three Servants.

"Saber?"

Artoria slowly drew Excalibur, her gaze as sharp as a blade.

"No matter who the enemy is—"

"A knight never retreats."

Souma nodded again.

"Zhuge Liang, Tamamo—what about you two?"

Zhuge Zhuge Liang adjusted his glasses.

"I have no issues."

Tamamo playfully twirled her hair.

"Fufu~ As long as it's Master's orders, Tamamo will never back down~!"

Hearing their resolute responses, Souma grinned.

He walked to the front of the group, then pushed open the gates of Ryuudou Temple.

"Then let's go…"

The moment he stepped out, his Detection skill activated, instantly locking onto two red markers in the distance.

"…I've found our targets."

Souma narrowed his eyes.

"Next, we advance—charge forward—and claim victory!"
