FGO System in the Type-Moon World

Chapter 13: Chapter 013: Looks Like My Bet Paid Off

Reiji's plan was simple.

A standard summoning still used the system's mechanics—

But unlike system-bound summons, this Servant's upkeep wouldn't be covered by the system.

Instead, he'd have to sustain them himself.

Additionally, this Servant would disappear once the Holy Grail War ended.

This made a normal summoning the worst option for him.

But—

It was perfect for an experiment.

If he was lucky, he could kill three Servants and upgrade the summon into a system Servant.

If he was unlucky, the Servant would simply return to the Throne of Heroes, which wouldn't be a betrayal on his part.

Standing within Tamamo's bounded field, Reiji took a deep breath—

Then activated the summoning ritual.

Light exploded outward, filling the area with dancing orbs of energy.

Pillars of light spiraled into the sky.

And this time—

The card wasn't silver.

The moment the light faded, a golden card was revealed.

On its back, the illustration of an old man wielding a long staff became visible.

A golden Caster-class Servant.

Tension filled the air as the golden card flipped over—

And in an instant, a new figure materialized.

A man with long black hair, dressed in a modern suit, wearing small glasses.

At first glance, he looked so normal—

That Reiji almost mistook him for an ordinary human.

If not for the immense presence radiating from him, he would have never believed this man was a Servant.

"Zhuge Liang… or rather, El-Melloi II."

The man adjusted his glasses, his sharp gaze landing on Reiji.

"Hmm… I see. So you're my Master this time?"

Meanwhile…

Just as Reiji had no idea what Tokiomi was up to…

Tokiomi also had no idea what Reiji had just done.

But to him—

It didn't matter.

Because he was about to secure his greatest trump card.

"Kirei, excellent work. You have not disappointed me."

Tohsaka Tokiomi spoke with calm confidence, watching his disciple with satisfaction.

"By tonight, you should be able to perform the early summoning for Assassin."

"Once that's done, you will lead the Servant to eliminate Reiji Souma immediately."

"A variable like him is a threat to our plans."

Kirei nodded.

Without hesitation, he turned and left.

Tokiomi leaned back in his chair, his fingers steepled together.

To him, Reiji was already as good as dead.

He had paid a great price to pull off an early summoning.

And once Kirei summoned his Assassin, everything would be under control.

No matter how strange Reiji's magecraft was—

No matter how quickly he had killed Matou Zouken—

Against a Servant, he wouldn't stand a chance.

Satisfied with this certainty, Tokiomi turned his thoughts elsewhere.

His own Servant.

The artifact had already arrived.

Once Kirei's summoning was complete, it would be his turn.

The mere thought of it made him smile faintly.

His wife and daughters were safe.

And soon, he would summon the strongest Servant in this war.

They say time flies when one is in high spirits.

And so—

Before he knew it, Kirei had already completed his summoning.

A sea of black-cloaked figures filled the room.

Their many faces shifting—

Their voices overlapping as they spoke in unison.

"Master… Assassin has answered your call."

Kirei nodded.

His voice was calm—

But beneath it lay a hint of intrigue.

"Teacher, this Assassin is… unique."

"How many should I send to eliminate him?"

Tokiomi considered this carefully—

Then gave his answer.

"Reiji possesses an ability to kill…

And he single-handedly eliminated Matou Zouken."

"To be safe—

Send all of them."

Kirei bowed slightly.

"Understood, Teacher."
