Chapter 10: Chapter 010: The Second Summon

After eliminating Ryuunosuke, Reiji and Berserker left the area.

Their destination—

Ryuudou Temple.

Following a winding mountain path, Reiji disappeared into the dense forest, stopping only when he found a secluded area.

Here, he would conduct his second summon.

Another Servant might have questioned his reasoning for choosing this place.

But Berserker?

He didn't care.

As long as he could crush enemies, everything else was irrelevant.

"Berserker, stand guard. Make sure no one disturbs me."

Berserker nodded, vanishing into spirit form.

With his protection secured, Reiji opened the system menu and activated the free summon.

This time, the summoning was restricted to Caster-class Servants.

Which meant he was guaranteed to summon a Caster.

But strength among Servants varied greatly.

Berserker was proof of that.

Would he get a strong Caster?

Or a weak one?

Despite the lack of immediate danger, he felt more tense than before.

As the three summoning rings expanded outward, a pillar of light shot into the sky.

A silver card appeared.

Reiji's heartbeat quickened.

His eyes locked onto the card, watching closely.

Then—

Golden lightning surged.

The silver card began to shine, its color slowly shifting to gold.

Seeing this, Reiji finally exhaled in relief.

As the golden glow intensified, a red summoning circle formed beneath him.

And then—

A new Servant appeared.

Pink hair swayed gently in the wind.

A pair of fox-like ears twitched.

Her charming, delicate features exuded a mysterious allure.

And in her bright, lively eyes—

There was a spark of mischief.

"If you need help, I'll be right there! Your ever-reliable Miko Fox, Caster, has arrived!~"

With a wink and a playful pose, the fox-eared Servant struck a dramatic stance.

Watching her antics, Reiji Souma sighed helplessly, but he wasn't disappointed in the least.

A Caster-class Tamamo-no-Mae—this was already a great pull.

Sure, he hadn't drawn Zhuge Liang (Waver) or Merlin, but Tamamo was still an excellent choice.

"Oh my, my~ It seems you have quite the uninvited guest."

As Reiji was mulling over his next steps, a gentle fragrance filled the air.

Tamamo had gracefully positioned herself between him and a newly materialized figure.

Alter Cu Chulainn.

Tamamo's fox ears twitched, and her golden eyes narrowed slightly.

"He doesn't look like an easy one to deal with… but don't worry! Little Tamamo won't back down from a fight!"

Watching his two Servants sizing each other up, Reiji sighed again.

"You're both on the same team. Let's not get hostile, alright?"

With that, he gave a brief introduction.

"This is Cu Chulainn, summoned in the Berserker class."

"And this is Tamamo-no-Mae, a Caster."

Despite the introduction, Berserker didn't react to Tamamo at all.

Instead, he simply turned away and vanished into spirit form.

That was just how he was.

Reiji didn't mind—after all, Berserker already got along with him, and that alone was rare enough.

"Maaasteeer~"

Tamamo put on a pitiful expression, looking at him expectantly.

Reiji shook his head again, amused.

"Come on, Caster. We need to set up a stronghold. This will be our base for the Holy Grail War."

Tamamo's ears drooped momentarily.

But in the next instant, she perked right back up, flashing her usual cheerful smile.

"If that's your wish, then your ever-capable wife, Tamamo, will get right to it~!"

Meanwhile…

Tohsaka Tokiomi was already making his move.

Watching the man who entered through the doorway, Tokiomi gave a pleased nod.

"Kirei, you've finally arrived."

From within his bounded field, he had already located the magus.

"It seems he's building a stronghold."

"Judging by its scale, and considering his level of magecraft, it will take him over ten days to complete."

And time—

Was the one thing they lacked most.

"Everything is in place. Once you summon your Servant, we will strike immediately."

"Understood, Teacher."
