Fate: Hero Simulator

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Forgiving You Is the Buddha's Affair

[3rd POV]

The head of the leader of the samurai fell to the ground, and the decapitated corpse began to gush out blood like a fountain.

Kyouya looked at the Murasame in his hand.

A few droplets of blood began to drip from the blade and cleanse away, making the sword polished as clean as new.

The samurai leader had intended to use a living person to test whether the blade was real, but in the end, he became the test subject himself.

No one saw what happened in the blink of an eye, only the flash of the sword and then everything was over.

"Master, I'll handle everything here soon."

"Muku, do you plan to keep killing?"

Sifu was indeed a compassionate monk.

Even though these men had just tried to kill him, he still believed that Muku had ended things by killing the leader and that it could all be finished now.

The others could simply be handed over to the authorities.

"Master, it's useless. Even if you turn them over to the authorities, they won't be executed. Instead, they'll just be sent to the war, turned into nothing more than killing machines."

He wasn't speaking thoughtlessly. With his "Divine Eye," he knew that there weren't many secrets left in this world.

Right now, the other warlords were already struggling with Oda Nobunaga and her subordinates.

The government didn't have many soldiers to spare, especially in times of war when they couldn't easily execute a healthy, adult man.

Leaving these people alive would only bring more trouble.

[You sense the anger of all the samurai. This anger comes from your disdain for them, but you don't feel much emotion. After all, you always show extra mercy to those about to die.]

Without hesitation, for anyone who dared to raise a sword against him, Kyouya simply struck, swiftly decapitating them.

At first, there were still those bold enough to attack him, but when they realized no one could survive, even one move against him, they finally began to fear him.

"Wait! We surrender! We are willing to be sent to the authorities. Master, please show mercy and don't kill us."

They, realizing the difference in strength, quickly dropped their weapons and knelt on the ground, clearly having encountered similar situations before.

It was clear they had been in such situations before and their ability to survive until now because they knew how to handle such moments.

However, Kyouya's sword didn't stop.

"Keeping you alive would only make rice more expensive."

"Wait! Isn't the Buddha's teaching about putting down the knife and becoming a Buddha? What if we join you're teachings?"

"That's true. However, if you're going to become a Buddha, the Buddha can't just ignore you and allow me, this monk, to help you and take you to meet the Buddha in the Land of Bliss."

He had simulated countless lives, and how could he not understand the principle of eradicating evil completely?

As for whether these people would actually meet the Buddha in the Land of Bliss, that was not something Kyouya needed to worry about.

"Muku."

As the last of the samurai fell, and when many of his fellow monks didn't dare to step forward, the old monk, Sifu, stepped forward and looked at his disciple.

"You didn't have to do this."

Buddhism placed the greatest focus on karma and feared the burden of accumulated sin.

Although Sifu understood that Muku's killings were not acts of evil, those samurai had families.

If their families sought revenge, it would become a cycle of karma and lead to future consequences.

If Kyouya had spared even one person, there would be one less enemy seeking revenge. This would make it easier for him to live peacefully and focus on his training.

"Kill to protect life, cut off karma, not people."

Kyouya's answer was very straightforward, and killing these people was merely to prevent them from killing others.

However, deciding who should be killed and who shouldn't is a judgment that requires a certain level of understanding, and only someone with the wisdom of a Bodhisattva could make such decisions.

Who should be killed, and who should be spared?

How was such a judgment to be made?

Kyouya wasn't a Buddha yet, but he was working hard to move in that direction.

"There will always be more like them. This blade cannot remain here any longer. Master, I am going down the mountain."

He activated his "Divine Eye" and quickly saw several figures making their way toward the temple.

He had to take the demon sword with him and leave in a way that would attract everyone's attention.

This would draw attention away from the temple.

"You are leaving, then? Muku, you have chosen a difficult path of cultivation."

Sifu said.

He had said before that if anyone wanted to become a Buddha, the path was like climbing a mountain, and the vows were like a ladder.

Although the ladder limited the direction of movement, it still provided a place to stand.

At this moment, Kyouya had already broken the vows against killing, and it was likely that the other vows would gradually be broken too in time.

This was like losing all of his equipment and starting to climb up on his own.

Not only did this mean he no longer had a foothold, but it also made it easier for him to fall from the heights and be crushed.

"I have made up my mind. Master, please expel me from the temple—I won't drag the temple down with me."

Leaving those words behind, Kyouya sheathed the cursed blade, Muramasa, and walked toward the most crowded path.

He needed to make direct contact with those pursuing the sword to show them that the cursed blade, Murasame, was no longer hidden in this secluded mountain temple.

"Master, fellow disciples, we shall not meet again."

He gave a respectful bow to the familiar faces and then left without looking back.

[You have left this secluded mountain and understood that you will never return. What you must do now is sever all ties with the temple.]

[You feel the cursed sword's thirst for blood. It has been years since it tasted blood, and the small amount from earlier isn't enough. It urges you to kill, but you remain unmoved.]

Sure enough, a cursed blade is much more troublesome than a holy sword.

He gazed at the cursed blade in his hand.

Its material was incredibly unique, making it nearly impossible to destroy.

This was likely why Master Sifu had sealed it inside the Buddha statue to purify it, or else they wouldn't have encountered the troubles today.

Fortunately, Kyouya possessed the skill of "Diamond Sutra," allowing him to simply smile at such distractions.
