Chapter 174: 【174】Concerned Senior Sister
Knock, knock, knock, the urgent knocking sound.
“Who is it?” Huang Zhilei asked irritably as he turned around. Whoever it was this time, they were bound to run into trouble with him. He was about to give Junior Xie Wanying a piece of his mind.
The door cracked open, revealing the face of Senior Sister Lau Jingyun. She said to Xie Wanying, “Are you okay? I heard you were in a car accident; it scared me to death!”
Xie Wanying hastily informed her senior sister, “No, I wasn’t in a car accident—”
Entering the room, Lau Jingyun examined her carefully, “Don’t lie to me.”
Having shared a dormitory for several years, as a senior sister, Lau Jingyun knew Xie Wanying’s personality quite well. Junior Xie Wanying was typically soft on the outside, but firm on the inside, a person who didn’t like to express her issues outwardly. Otherwise, Lau Jingyun wouldn’t have panicked and run all the way from the anesthesiology department to the emergency department upon hearing the news of the car accident.
Huang Zhilei and Xie Wanying had only been acquainted for a couple of days, so he didn’t know her well. Upon hearing Lau Jingyun say that the junior sister was of such a character, he was bewildered; he hadn’t noticed it before.
Considering Junior Xie Wanying seemed quite outspoken, ready to speak her mind to anyone, she didn’t appear to be someone who would keep things to herself.
“You’re bleeding so much; the wound must be painful,” Lau Jingyun said as she touched Xie Wanying’s hair, “I’ll find you a couple of painkillers later.”
Anesthesiologists are the experts at pain relief, after all.
Xie Wanying nodded her head, accepting her senior sister’s caring gesture.
Then came Senior Brother Huang’s “caring” gesture.
Pulling back the clothing on Junior Xie Wanying’s arm, there was a scrape on the outer side of her forearm. As the wound was superficial, it had quickly scabbed over.
“It’s not serious,” Xie Wanying whispered. It truly wasn’t serious. She knew the real reason for her teacher and senior siblings’ excessive concern was not this.
Indeed, her murmuring drew a glare from her senior brother.
“I told you to call me first if anything happens. What exactly do you remember in that head of yours?” While swabbing her wound with iodine, Huang Zhilei was this close to tapping her head with the proverbial Teaching Whip.
Biting her teeth against the sting of the iodine, Xie Wanying didn’t dare oppose any of Senior Brother Huang’s criticisms or lessons. Senior Brother Huang’s hands were becoming heavier, making her head break out in sweat. After wiping with iodine twice more, he then used an alcohol swab to remove the iodine. Huang Zhilei then carefully checked for any other foreign materials in Junior Xie Wanying’s wound.
Lau Jingyun looked around the treatment room for any ready-made pills, asking Huang Zhilei, “Senior Brother, does she need any medication prescribed?”
Concerned that the wound might become inflamed or feverish tonight.
“No need, Senior Sister,” Xie Wanying said, emphasizing her own strong constitution.
“What are you saying when the doctor hasn’t spoken?” Senior Brother Huang glared at her from across the room.
Xie Wanying fell quiet once again.
“Call me if you get a fever,” Huang Zhilei instructed her.
As a doctor, Senior Brother Huang was quite cautious, not letting her misuse antibiotics and fever reducers.
“I’ll prescribe some ibuprofen for her so she can sleep better tonight,” said Lau Jingyun, after listening to Huang Zhilei’s words, turning around to make a suggestion.
“That works,” Huang Zhilei agreed. As he tried to take off his examination gloves, he looked at Junior Xie Wanying again, “Tell me honestly, how did you get injured?”
Lau Jingyun walked to the door, intending to get a few ibuprofen tablets from the emergency pharmacy. As she opened the door, someone was just about to enter, and she instinctively blocked the doorway.
“Why are you blocking the way?” That person pushed her aside and walked straight into the treatment room.
Startled by the sudden entry, Huang Zhilei and Xie Wanying turned their heads. Then, Xie Wanying saw Senior Brother Huang’s face darken.
