Chapter 36: Chapter 35: A Baby Training for the Tournament, Shocking the Headmaster
"Bang!"
Yan kicked open the door to Class One.
Three people and one baby stood at the entrance, panting heavily, staring awkwardly at their homeroom teacher, Myron, who stood on the podium.
"You guys are late ag—oh! Student Yi Ya just arrived too? Alright, no problem, take your seats."
Myron had been about to scold them when he suddenly broke into a wide smile. The speed at which his expression changed was almost supernatural.
The trio exchanged glances, inwardly rolling their eyes. We've been late so many times, but this is the first time Myron has ever been this friendly.
This only confirmed one thing—Baby bro's identity is no joke.
However, when they reached their seats, it was Lin Luo's turn to be shocked.
Someone had prepared an incredibly comfortable-looking baby seat just for him!
Compared to the surrounding desks, this baby chair was… completely ridiculous. The contrast was jarring.
Wait… has my identity been exposed?
Otherwise, why would I be treated so well?
But Lin Luo didn't sit down immediately. Instead, he babbled in baby talk to Hu Liena, signaling that he was heading to the training field for a "morning jog." He asked his teammates to meet him there after class so they could practice their combat coordination.
The entire class watched as a baby confidently skipped class, while their homeroom teacher, Myron, even saw him off with a smile.
Once Lin Luo was gone, Myron's expression turned serious. "Yesterday, everyone was assigned to their teams. In one week, we'll hold the Class Selection Tournament. Make sure to train hard."
Saying this, he turned to look at Xie Yue, Yan, and Hu Liena.
"Hu Liena, your team's other four members… may drag you down quite a bit. You three need to work extra hard."
"After all, no matter how strong three people are, it's hard to fight against seven. I sincerely hope the three of you will represent Spirit Hall Academy in the Empire's Freshman Exchange Tournament."
Hu Liena nodded. "We will, Teacher."
But in truth, her confidence wavered for the first time.
Yi Ya was, after all, a baby.
Seika Ka and Luo Ya were only on their team because they were too weak—no one else wanted them.
As for Miao Duoduo, who had volunteered himself, his strength was unknown. But hearing Myron's words, she suspected he was probably useless too.
"Damn it."
Sitting in the last row, Miao Duoduo clenched his fists, his face full of frustration.
"My soul power is only level six because I just awakened my martial soul. Fine, I can accept being called weak. But how dare you insult Baby Bro?! He's just a few months old, and he's already a one-ring spirit master!"
His dramatic outburst drew zero interest from the class.
In fact, everyone saw Xie Yue's team as a serious threat—at first.
But after hearing that their team had a baby and three deadweights, the entire class immediately relaxed, some even laughing under their breath.
No matter how strong Xie Yue, Yan, and Hu Liena were, dragging along three useless teammates and a baby—how could they possibly win the tournament?
That was pure fantasy.
…
Training Grounds.
Since it was still class time, the training field was mostly empty.
Lin Luo was pleased—no one would interrupt him while he racked up his step count.
However, he was so focused on his "training" that he didn't notice the seven figures approaching leisurely from the direction of the administration building, chatting as they walked.
Among them, at the center, was an elderly man clad in a red and gold robe, his long white hair flowing down his back.
He was none other than Lord Diarra, one of the four Platinum Bishops of the Spirit Hall and the current Headmaster of the Spirit Hall Academy.
The six figures following behind him were the deans of each academic year.
Among them was Sutan Jie, the dean of the first-year students, who was listening intently as the headmaster spoke.
Diarra: "I've looked into it. Star Luo Royal Academy has already selected their freshman team. Their captain is Dai Weisi, the eldest son of the Star Luo Emperor. He possesses the White Tiger Martial Soul and has extraordinary talent."
"The Heaven Dou Royal Academy's team captain… have you heard of Yu Tianheng?"
Diarra's tone carried an amused yet knowing edge as he threw the question to the six deans.
Sutan Jie's expression stiffened. "A Yu… Could he be—?"
Diarra narrowed his eyes. "That's right—Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon."
"The two great empires are sending their top prodigies this time. A dragon and a tiger—it's clear that they're here to crush the new generation of our Spirit Hall."
Diarra's face darkened at the thought.
Seeing this, Sutan Jie immediately forced a laugh, trying to placate him. "Please don't worry, Headmaster! The first-year students are far from weak. We have several outstanding seedlings among them. In fact… there's one that's truly unbelievable."
Diarra scoffed. "Hmph. You said the same thing last year. And what happened?"
"Our Spirit Hall's freshmen were beaten black and blue by the empire's students! Some of them even cried and begged for mercy on stage!"
"They disgraced us!"
"And mind you, the opponents last time weren't even that exceptional. But this year, they're sending real prodigies. I see no hope of victory at all!"
Diarra's cold reprimand silenced the six deans, but most of them were inwardly gloating at Sutan Jie's misfortune.
Well… all except the sixth-year dean, who couldn't even force a smile.
After all, his students were the ones about to compete in the upcoming Continental Advanced Spirit Master Academy Elite Tournament. His pressure was even greater.
Diarra let out a frustrated snort and continued, "I won't comment on how strong the first-year Class One students are yet. But the exchange competition is right around the corner, and I haven't seen a single one of them training in the field!"
"Where's their sense of urgency? Did they feed it to the dogs?"
Just as he finished speaking, Diarra's sharp eyes suddenly caught something strange darting across the training field.
He blinked.
Am I getting old?
He squinted, trying to get a better look.
And then his eyes widened in utter disbelief.
"Why is there a baby in the academy?" [TL: lol]
At that moment, a tiny infant was furiously crawling in circles around the training grounds—moving at an astonishing speed.
It didn't look like a normal baby at all.
Sutan Jie was momentarily stunned. His eyes nearly popped out of his head.
But seeing the headmaster's astonishment, he suddenly had a stroke of genius.
He immediately straightened his posture and solemnly declared:
"Headmaster! The sense of urgency has arrived! That right there—is the embodiment of urgency! Look at how hard that Class One freshman is training for the exchange tournament!"
"…What?!"
The other deans snapped their heads toward the field.
A Class One freshman?! A baby?! Training hard for the tournament?!
The sheer absurdity of it all nearly made their brains short-circuit.
Diara's brow twitched. "Explain. Now."
Realizing there was no avoiding this, Sutan Jie took a deep breath… and decided to spill everything.
One minute later.
Diarra: "You're telling me that a baby possesses a Martial Soul and even has a Spirit Ring? How is that possible?"
Sutan Jie responded seriously, "Lord Salas can verify it!"
Hearing Salas's name, Diarra's skepticism wavered. He knew Sutan Jie wouldn't dare to lie about something so outrageous if Salas himself had confirmed it.
His curiosity was now piqued.
Sutan Jie: "Headmaster, just look at how hard Yiya is working—training early in the morning just for the upcoming competition!"
Diarra: "He's participating in the Class One team selection?"
Sutan Jie: "That's right!"
Diarra: "Good, good. This is getting interesting."
A strong intrigue lit up the old man's face.
At that moment, the end-of-class bell rang, signaling the arrival of Iyah's teammates, who had agreed to meet at the training field.
From the academic building, the six students rushed over, ready to begin their training.
Seeing this, Sutan Jie quickly pointed in their direction.
"Headmaster, look! Those are his teammates. They must be getting ready to train right now!"
Diarra frowned.
"His teammates have even less discipline than a baby?"
"It's already this close to the selection tournament, and they're still attending class? They should be devoting every second to training!"
His sharp gaze swept over the students briefly before locking onto Lin Luo once again.
Though his logical mind told him that a baby with a Martial Soul was impossible, the fact that Salas had verified it meant he couldn't simply dismiss it.
Diarra's interest in Lin Luo's abilities grew stronger.
"The five of you, don't leave just yet."
"Stay with me and let's see what Class One is truly capable of."
