Chapter 2: Chapter two
Pain! So intense pain!
Sophia Hart had not suffered so much pain in her entire life. She could no longer hold back.
She was alone in the world of pain.
Slowly the haziness thinned and she could hear some voices.
"Doctor Segway! Please, please save my daughter!"
"Mrs Hart, please reassured, Dr Segway is pioneer in this field. He had travelled long way just to attend to your daughter. She will recover soon."
"Family members, please stay outside. We need to check the patient."
Some more murmur. Some one was poking and disturbing her. Sophia didn't like he feeling at all. This was worse than being alone and suffering in pain.
"It's an honour to watch Dr Segway."
"But why did he come? Does the patient's family has that much power to get such prominent internist to fly over just to get second opinion?"
"Bah! Harts are useless. They strut around like peococks just because some ancestor of their had done a meritorious deed and was recognised by royal family."
"Hush! Don't disturb Dr Segway. But it's indeed true that Harts don't have capacity to invite the doctor."
"So...Who invited him?"
A baritone voice nearly startled Sophia as it spoke near her. "I was invited by someone who admitted this patient to the hospital. Pardon me for not revealing the name. I don't want to burden all of you."
Sophia frowned. She was in hospital? Not in the medical facility doing illegal human experiments? She clearly remembered those people pumping all sorts drugs into her.
Dr Segway, the man with baritone continued, "However, it seems you won't be able to see my work much. The treatment I had recommended is working. She might wake up any time soon."
Dr Segway was like a prophet. Sophia finally was able to open her eyes after struggling for what seemed like hours. The first thing she did was to look at the baritone voiced person. She had heard that voice before.
She had seen that person before. A giant of a man with flaming red hair but gentle personality. He had treated her when she had suffered from accident. Don't tell me, he is treating her this time too.
But why was he still so young? He hasn't aged even after a decade and more.
Sophia could only lie on hospital bed and blink her eyes in response to questions. Dr Segway assured her that as she had been on ventilator for few days prior, her throat was yet to recover. But she would be able use her voice in few hours, just few words initially. Before he could conduct more tests, family members who had gone out, rushed in. Someone had informed them before the doctor in charge had given the permission. Dr Segway frowned a bit but he continued to do the test. Or tried to.
The patient was not co-operating.
When the family members came in, Sophia got the worst shock possible. How is this possible? These vile people had used her, pushed her into hell. They had erased her existence. Now, all were crowding a suite in hospital, showing care.
"Baby, I was so worried." Mrs Hart said, tears running down her cheeks. She didn't look like a lady in forties.
"Sis! Please get better soon," the young master of the family, Master Hart said, his voice breaking in the middle. He was still young after all, just entering puberty.
The youngest member, little Miss Hart just held onto Sophia and cried heartbreakingly. What a heart rending picture.
Wait! Wait! What happened before, was it a dream? Why would she dream such a thing? Maybe this is a dream. A last ditch effort from herself to enjoy closeness of family. After all, they were too young.
Sophia was too confused. With lots of questions running around in her head, she fell into uneasy sleep. The examination had to be postponed.
Dr Segway assured the family that sleep was the best medicine for her to recover and he left. He had come to look at the patient as a favour. But, look at this set up. Loose lips every where, no strict adherence to protocol. He would not waste a minute more here.
When Sophia woke up it was middle of the night. The caretaker and the nurse were chatting. This sort of patient was their favourite, leaving them free and let them gossip non stop.
"Shame that hunk of the doctor left so early."
" Be happy you got to see him. By the time I arrived to hospital, he had already left."
" What's the use? I didn't even get to talk with him I wanted a selfie with him. If not that a pic or autograph. But I had to be quiet as mouse. The hospital director was standing next to him all the time."
