Fairy Tail: Strongest Creature

Chapter 138: Toying With You

Su Yan fired off a wide-range attack, yet Midnight did not dodge at all.

"Huh?" Su Yan cocked an eyebrow. He had formed multiple Haki blades to strike from various angles, so standing still should have been disastrous.

But as the violet blades converged on Midnight, something bizarre happened. They abruptly changed direction, as though space itself warped them back toward Su Yan.

"What the—?!"

Boom-boom—!!

His own Haki swords slammed into him with tremendous force, propelling Su Yan backward. It felt strangely jarring to be hit by his own attack.

Landing, Su Yan grimaced slightly, more out of surprise than true pain. Attacked by my own technique…

Midnight stood with his arms crossed, a thin smile on his lips. "How does it feel, being struck by your own magic?"

"Interesting," Su Yan responded, eyes narrowing. "What sort of magic is that?"

"Reflection Magic," Midnight said lightly. "I can distort anything. Including reflecting spells. Even the refraction of light illusions, if I will it. So, no matter what you throw at me, your 'magic' can't touch me."

"Is that so?" Su Yan gave a humorless chuckle. "Let's see how long that holds."

Midnight raised a hand. "Distort!"

Su Yan felt the space around him vibrating, twisting. If a weaker mage were here, they might be screaming in agony. Indeed, the pressure seemed to spiral around Su Yan, trying to tear him limb from limb.

Midnight's eyes sparkled sadistically. "Let's hear you wail. Your body will contort, your bones snap…"

Yet Su Yan's face remained impassive. He barely even flinched.

"Huh?! D-Don't you feel pain?" Midnight demanded in disbelief.

Su Yan shrugged. "I suppose you could say it's like a… massage. Feels nice."

"You—!" Midnight's face darkened. He cranked up the twisting force. "Pain Spiral!"

An even fiercer distortion assaulted Su Yan, and he let out what sounded like a shriek: "Aghhhh!"

Midnight's expression turned gleefully perverse. "Yes, that's right—shriek, squirm, cry out—!"

Suddenly, Su Yan stopped screaming and stared flatly at Midnight. "…Just kidding, you fool."

"What?! You—!" Furious, Midnight canceled the magic. Around Su Yan, the stone floor had been twisted into a corkscrew shape, but Su Yan himself stood unharmed.

"Your space-distortion magic is strong," Su Yan admitted calmly, "but it doesn't work on a body tougher than your power can twist. If not for me, you might've won by now. Unfortunately for you, my physique's a bit beyond your league."

"Tch! Don't act like you've seen everything. I'll show you real pain."

Midnight waved his arms, intensifying the warping effect in the atmosphere, but Su Yan once more braced himself with Armament Haki. The swirling black coating crawled over his skin, crackling with violet arcs of Conqueror's energy.

"Alright," Su Yan said. "I'll end this."

He stomped the ground and shot toward Midnight, who immediately cast another "Pain Spiral." The space around Su Yan contorted violently, but the black coating on his body appeared to shield him from lethal harm.

With a thunderous cry, Su Yan smashed through the distortion, aiming a punch at Midnight.

"Guh—! Distort!"

Midnight twisted again, warping the angle of Su Yan's strike. Yet Su Yan pushed through with brute force, straining his shoulder. The blow still partially missed, fracturing the floor, but not colliding cleanly with Midnight.

"Annoying," Su Yan muttered, retreating a step to reevaluate. "Try this."

He conjured multiple Haki projectiles again, launching them from diverse angles. Midnight scoffed, forced to distort each blade's path. The chaotic arcs hammered the surroundings—pillars and walls exploded—but not a single blade touched Midnight.

"You see?" Midnight sneered. "My reflection is absolute. As long as I can see it, I can warp it away. You'll never land a direct—"

"God Foot—Explosive Step!" Su Yan suddenly vanished, reappearing behind Midnight. He hammered a punch forward, forcibly adjusting his own path when space twisted. It still wrenched his body painfully, but this time his fist connected.

Crack—!!

Midnight coughed, flying backwards into a partially collapsed arch. He stumbled, eyes wide with shock.

Su Yan shook out his hand. "Heh. Distort that."

Teeth gritted, Midnight picked himself up. "Don't get cocky… I'll show you real despair…"

He began chanting again, space bending around Su Yan. But Su Yan poured even more power into his Haki, forging a swirling aura of unstoppable force.

"Battle Fist… or maybe I'll call it something else? Doesn't matter," Su Yan growled. "I'm done toying with you."

He unleashed a final surge of Haki-laced punches. Midnight tried distorting them, but the continuous barrage from multiple directions, combined with Su Yan's raw physical might forcing each blow forward, overwhelmed the reflection magic.

At last, Su Yan's unstoppable assault broke through, striking Midnight full-on.

Boom—!!!

Midnight's body careened across the ancient city, smashing through debris until he slammed into a distant wall.

"Grah—!" He groaned, slumping to the ground with a dull thud. His eyes fluttered white, unconscious.

Elsewhere, Natsu and Happy fought Brain in Nirvana's control tower. Suddenly, Midnight's limp form crashed somewhere below them.

"Someone dropped—!" Happy exclaimed.

"That's that sleeping guy from before!" Natsu said in recognition. He'd tried to attack that man, but the roar was bent away.

Brain's face twisted upon seeing Midnight's defeat. "Impossible! Midnight is the strongest among Oración Seis. He can't lose!"

But with Su Yan's might unleashed, not even Oración Seis's "strongest" illusions could stand in the way. The final confrontation within Nirvana was drawing to its climax, as Brain confronted the last remaining coalition fighters—and Su Yan made his way through, unstoppable as ever.
