Fairy Tail Destiny

Chapter 27: Ch 27 : Mission Accomplished

"Ah, it's finally over!" Natsu raised both hands in the air, a big smile on his face as he cheered.

"Seriously... I was still worrying about what to do next."

"With this, we've officially completed an S-Class mission!"

"Maybe we can even go up to the second floor now!" Thinking about the significance of stepping onto the second floor of Fairy Tail, even Lucy's face lit up with excitement.

Seeing Natsu and the others celebrating as if everything was already settled, a mischievous smile appeared on Noel's lips.

He finally spoke, "Natsu, Lucy, have you forgotten what the actual objective of this S-Class mission was? The real goal was to save the villagers who had been turned into demons, right?"

"Eh?"

"The S-Class mission isn't complete yet. And actually, from the very start, your assumptions were wrong."

"What do you mean?" Natsu, Lucy, and Gray all looked puzzled.

Noel chuckled and said, "Did you really think that the villagers on this island turned into demons because of the curse of Moon Drip and Deliora?"

"Huh? Wasn't that the case?" The three of them gasped in shock.

"Don't forget, if Moon Drip could turn people into demons, then wouldn't Lyon and his group, who have been exposed to the same moonlight for three years—standing even closer to Deliora and the magic of Moon Drip—have also transformed? Ask them if any of them ever turned into demons."

Hearing Noel's words, the group immediately turned to look at Lyon.

Lyon nodded. "Indeed, I've always had doubts about whether Moon Drip really affects people that way. Over these past three years, we've also been bathed in the same moonlight, but none of us experienced anything unusual. You should pay more attention—those guys are still hiding something. But from here on, this is Fairy Tail's problem to solve."

Seeing Lyon's indifferent attitude, the hot-tempered Natsu immediately became furious. "That's not okay! You guys destroyed the villa—"

Just as Natsu was about to bring up how Lyon's group had wrecked the village, Erza swiftly grabbed his mouth, cutting him off.

The last few words were muffled and swallowed back down.

"Don't lump everyone together. They have their own sense of justice as well. There's no need to dwell on the past." Erza then turned to Noel. "Noel, do you know something?"

Feeling Erza's gaze on him, Noel let out a wry smile and began to explain. "Yes, I explored the depths of the Moon Drip ruins earlier and discovered something important."

"What is it?"

Recalling the inscriptions he had seen on the stone walls, Noel looked at the group, whose faces were filled with curiosity, and said, "The truth is, the villagers on this island… are not actually humans. They are demons capable of transforming into human form."

"What?! Demons?!" Everyone's faces showed utter shock.

"That's right. Think about it—humans wouldn't be affected by the magic of Moon Drip. But if the villagers aren't actually human, then everything makes perfect sense."

Erza nodded. "Indeed, if that's the case, everything makes sense. So, does that mean the villagers on this island deceived us?"

"Not exactly," Noel scratched his cheek and explained. "Based on the information I've gathered so far, my conclusion is that the effect of Moon Drip on the villagers caused their perception and memories to become distorted. They truly believed that their transformed human selves were their original forms, while their demon forms were a result of a curse from the moonlight. And since Moon Drip's magic only affects demons, it makes sense that Lyon and the others, being human, weren't affected at all."

"What?!?!" x3

"So… taking on an S-Class mission is still too early for you guys." Noel decisively gave his verdict, leaving Natsu and the others completely stunned.

"Then, how do we resolve this?" Lucy was the first to recover and asked.

Noel narrowed his eyes and gave a mysterious smile before pointing toward the sky. "Of course, we destroy the moon."

"WHAT?!!!"

Everyone, now back to their senses, showed expressions of utter shock.

If anyone else had said this, they would've assumed that person had lost their mind.

Noel didn't bother explaining further.

Instead, he took a few steps forward into an open space, gazed at the purple moon in the sky, and gathered magic power in his hands.

"[Holy Light Magic—Sacred Light Arrow]!"

Countless rays of white light converged in Noel's hands, forming an exquisitely crafted white bow and arrow.

As the others watched in stunned silence, Noel pulled back the bowstring, aimed at the moon, and then suddenly released it.

A glowing arrow with a long, trailing tail of light shot out, speeding toward the purple moon.

"Go!"

The white light arrow soared into the sky.

The next moment, it appeared to collide with the moon, and cracks spread across its surface as if it were made of glass.

"You've got to be kidding me!!!"

Lucy and Gray's jaws nearly hit the ground.

This situation was so far beyond their understanding that they almost thought the world had gone insane.

The cracks in the sky rapidly expanded, stretching even beyond the moon's size.

Then, with a loud boom, a purple barrier, seemingly a protective layer, shattered.

In that instant, the purple moon that had dominated the sky reverted to its normal color before everyone's eyes.

"The moon… didn't break? The sky… shattered?" Lucy murmured to herself in disbelief.

Noel chuckled and explained, "This island was actually covered by a barrier of evil energy."

"A barrier?"

"Yes. The Moon Drip's energy condensed like a gas and eventually crystallized, forming a thin membrane in the sky. That's why the moon appeared purple. This membrane also affected the island's residents, distorting their memories and perception, leading to the misunderstanding I mentioned earlier. So, all I had to do was destroy it."

"I see now," Natsu, Gray, Lucy, and Happy all nodded in realization.

"So," Noel raised his voice slightly, looking at them with a teasing smirk, "you guys are still a million years too early to complete an S-Class mission, huh?"

Under Noel's mocking remark, the now fully recovered group was once again petrified.

"Alright, let's go. We should head back to the village and check on things," Noel gestured to the group and spoke softly.
