Chapter 493: Learning True Void
It washed over the area like a deep sea.
Cracks began to appear on the land, and the wall guardian dragons fell a sharp pain in their eyes.
Just looking at the sword made them wince, and bleed from the eyes.
Neo used the opening while the dragons were surprised, and attacked ferociously.
He only stopped after reaching 100% in Voidfang Rain, and Space Lock.
The wall guardian dragons had slight cracks running over their scales, and the Nyxtharion #69 had lost one of its wing.
Neo, on the other hand, was breathing heavily.
He looked pristine. All of his injuries had healed, thanks to the expectational regeneration he received from devouring the Sovereign of Three Thousand Shadows.
Suddenly, the ground shook.
A new wall guardian dragon entered the cave, bigger than the others.
Neo squinted. This one was different.
Half its face pulsed with deformed flesh, twisting and bulging like it was alive.
One of its eye glowed red, the other was sunken and dark.
Its scales peeled off in patches, revealing raw, shifting skin underneath.
"Who's that?" whispered Neo.
"The Great I am numbered #2," rumbled the dragon, its voice deep and rough.
"You look… different."
"The body of Great I changed from Void," replied Nyxtharion #2. "Now, let's start your training."
"You said we'd move to True Void. What is it, really?"
"Void can do two things. First, it brings things back to null—a state before they existed. This wipes them out clean. Not many use it this way. Most use Void for the second thing: Corruption," explained Nyxtharion #2.
"Corruption?" asked Neo.
"Yes. Void corrupts. But corruption is just uncontrolled evolution. It pushes things to change fast, hoping it would evolve incorrectly and die out," answered Nyxtharion #2.
Neo frowned, thinking.
He'd seen Void twist things, break them apart.
"Evolution? Like growing?"
"Kind of. Outer Gods used Void to make their own energy types. Your energy is plain, non-elemental. You can turn it into shadow energy or death energy. Those are energy types," clarified Nyxtharion #2.
"You mean the 108 Elementals?" wondered Neo.
"Yes, they are 108 basic energy types. Each matches one element. Those elements come from Elemental Supremes—old, powerful beings that rule Beyond," replied Nyxtharion #28.
"And Void Gods?"
"Void Gods can create new energy types. That should be impossible, theoretically. It makes them stronger than regular Gods. That's why they're called Outer Gods—Gods Beyond.
"But it's dangerous. Hard to control. When you try to make a new energy type, you might corrupt yourself," cautioned Nyxtharion #2.
"Corrupt myself? How?" questioned Neo.
"There's two kinds. Body corruption is bad, but normal. You'd look like a monster—like me. That's it. Soul corruption is worse," answered Nyxtharion #2.
Neo glanced at the dragon's deformed face.
"And what exactly is soul corruption?"
"Soul is where evolution comes from. If Void corrupts your soul, it ruins your future. The traits you awaken turn harmful, maybe suicidal," warned Nyxtharion #2.
"Wait, suicidal?" asked Neo, feeling like he knew a Trait ability like that.
"Yes. But there is more. If both body and soul corrupt, it's the end. Your body holds your soul's evolution in check. It is a seal. If that breaks, your body and soul mutate wild. You'd become what people call an Eldritch entity—a deformed thing. Just looking at it hurts others, attacks their minds," explained Nyxtharion #2.
Neo swallowed hard.
He had seen it. Twisted flesh, a mess of power, screaming chaos. Velkaria was the perfect example. Zera's true form was another example.
"So that's what Void can do."
"Yes. Void means Null. It pulls things to nothing. It can erase them, turn them back to before they were born. Or it forces them to evolve until they break and die. Used right, it's a wonder. Used wrong, it's a curse," replied Nyxtharion #2.
Neo's hand tightened on Obitus, the Formless Sword still humming from the fight.
"I thought Void just changed things, and altered them to give them a new property, but this…"
Void was like a nuclear science knowledge.
Dangerous in wrong hands, but still extremely useful.
"That's the surface. Underneath, it's more. Null and evolution—two sides of the same power. You've only scratched it," said Nyxtharion #69.
Neo nodded slow.
His view of Void had shifted. It wasn't just a tool—it was a source of wonder, one that could spell doom of oneself if used incorrectly.
"What now?"
"Now, I tell you more. You need to know how Void fits with awakeners, demigods, and gods," announced Nyxtharion #2.
"I'm all ears," said Neo.
"Awakeners connect to a world core and make mystical energy. Some races awaken Traits—strong abilities only a few can have.
"Traits are special powers, if you don't know about them.
"Long ago, before races mixed across the cosmos, only certain ones had traits. Not many. Now, inter-race marriages are common. It allowed most, if not all races to have traits," explained Nyxtharion #2.
Neo nodded.
Nyxtharion continued its explanation.
"Now, about the Demigods. When someone with a trait becomes a god and has children, those kids inherit abilities. They're called demigods," added Nyxtharion #28.
"And how does that work?" questioned Neo.
He knew about demigods, of course. However, there might be some information that he did not know.
It was best to learn everything from Nyxthation #2, instead of skipping information explanation that Neo was already supposed to know.
"The first two traits a demigod awakens come from their god parent—usually through bloodline.
"After that, new traits mix three things: what their original trait would've been without the god blood, their life experiences, and a boost from the god parent's power," clarified Nyxtharion #2.
Neo rubbed his chin.
"So demigods are stronger than Awakeners because of their parents?"
"At a race level, yes. Demigods are stronger than awakeners overall. Individually, it's different. An awakener might have a unique, powerful trait that beats a demigod. It's rare, but it happens," replied Nyxtharion #2.
"Like what kind of trait?" asked Neo.
"Could be anything. A trait to bend time, shatter space, control minds. If it's strong enough, an awakener could stand above a demigod. The chance is small, though not zero," answered Nyxtharion #2.
"And where does Void fit in all this?"
