Evil Hokage: Naruto over Tsunade

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Despair

"Wait, how did things come to this?" Samui's emerald eyes widened as she muttered to herself.

Panic-stricken, Samui tried to prop herself up with her hands, but her body betrayed her. She couldn't muster even an ounce of strength. She had barely managed to stand before collapsing back onto the ground like a sponge drained of water.

The golden-haired girl's face was pale, her exhaustion hidden deep within her eyes, unwilling to let her enemy see her vulnerability.

After a brief moment of silence, Samui spoke, her voice steady yet resolute. "This is a time of peace among the Five Great Nations. You can't do this—it will spark conflict between our countries."

"And you shouldn't drag innocent people into this…"

"Innocent people?" The question came with a hint of malice and amusement in Naruto's crimson eyes. "Do you mean your teammates, or those five civilians on the other side?"

Naruto paused for effect, his lips curling into a taunting smirk. "I know you're stalling, waiting for your team leader to arrive. But time isn't on your side."

His tone turned mocking as he slowly announced, "Only 28 seconds left."

Samui didn't respond.

Time was running out. She clenched her eyes shut, her hands forming seals as she focused all her energy on drawing chakra.

Faster, faster, she screamed inwardly. If I can just gather enough chakra, I might still have a chance to turn this around.

But her desperate efforts were cut short.

"Samui, don't waste your energy. Your chakra points have already been sealed by my technique."

Naruto's voice, calm and cruel, shattered her hopes. He had seen through her plan from the moment her hands moved.

"Ten... nine… eight..."

"Three... two... one."

"What a pity, Samui," Naruto said, a sick grin spreading across his face. "You failed to make a choice. Now, you'll see the consequences."

He formed a single hand seal, his laughter turning maniacal. "Art… is an explosion!"

With the final word, two deafening explosions rocked the area.

The resulting shockwave swept past Samui, tossing her hair wildly.

Her face froze, her expression unreadable, as though lost in thought. But in truth, her mind was blank, her gaze hollow.

Before her, Darui—her teammate—lay motionless. His red-and-white attire was engulfed in flames, the result of the explosive tags.

Tears welled in Samui's emerald eyes, slipping silently down her delicate face, eventually falling onto the grass below.

Naruto chuckled softly, the mockery in his voice unmissable. "What a shame, Samui. You couldn't save anyone."

Her eyes were unfocused, her spirit crushed.

Her hesitation had led to her teammate's death.

Her hesitation had cost innocent villagers their lives.

She was too weak…

---

"Tsk."

Naruto observed Samui's reaction, unsurprised by her despair.

But he wasn't satisfied.

He vaguely recalled that Samui had another teammate—Cee.

A twisted smile crossed his face as he reached out, grabbing the trembling Samui by the arm and pulling her close. Their faces were mere inches apart now.

At this proximity, Samui could clearly smell the scent of roasted meat clinging to him.

"Don't be so pessimistic, Samui. The game isn't over yet."

With a single hand seal, Naruto declared, "Shadow Clone Jutsu."

Poof!

A plume of white smoke erupted, and a shadow clone appeared.

Without a word, the clone exchanged a knowing glance with Naruto before disappearing behind a tree. Moments later, it dragged out Cee's unconscious body.

"Cee!"

Samui's eyes turned bloodshot as she struggled violently, her voice breaking into a desperate scream. "You monster! What do you want?!"

"Don't worry," Naruto said with a cruel smile. "Your teammate isn't dead—just unconscious."

Then, his voice dropped to a menacing tone. "But I can't promise that'll still be the case in a few moments."

Samui's brows furrowed, her despair deepening. "Naruto Uzumaki, if it were your teammates, what would you do?"

For a moment, Naruto froze, his crimson eyes narrowing.

To Samui, it seemed as though he had been struck by the same moral dilemma.

But then, his smile returned—twisted and deranged. "Of course, I'd blow up the strangers."

His laughter echoed around them, manic and unhinged.

"You're insane," Samui murmured bitterly. She smiled faintly, the weight of her helplessness crushing her spirit. "The weak have no right to speak, do they?"

"Insane? I like that title," Naruto replied, his tone eerily calm.

Then his expression turned serious, his voice heavy with mock authority. "Now then, back to business. The game continues."

Naruto gestured towards his clone, who stood ready, one foot hovering over Cee's head.

"All it takes is my command, and your teammate's skull will be crushed."

His voice lowered, almost a whisper in her ear. "But, if you say the word, my clone will stop. Of course…"

He leaned closer, his breath cold against her skin. "The cost will be the lives of five families in the Land of Lightning. My clones will ensure they all meet a grisly end."

"There's no need to question my resolve. You know I have the power to do it."

Naruto straightened, his grin returning. "One minute. Make your choice, Samui."
