Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Hand it Over
Naruto waved his hand, withdrawing the Ice Release chakra. The frost covering Sakumo Hatake gradually evaporated and dispersed.
"Thank you, Senior Sakumo, for holding back," Naruto said, his blue eyes radiating goodwill, his tone tinged with respect.
After all, Sakumo Hatake had been holding a kunai in his hand the entire time.
With Sakumo's countless battle-hardened experiences, if this were an actual confrontation on the battlefield...
Naruto had no doubt that the kunai in Sakumo's hand could have transformed into a deadly blade and pierced his skull.
But Sakumo didn't do that.
That being said…
This was just a sparring match, and the outcome was clear: Naruto had won.
"Naruto, no need to be modest. I believe you'll shine brightly in the future," Sakumo said with a slight squint, his smile warm. "Though, I sincerely hope we won't have to face another war."
Naruto raised his head slightly, his gaze drifting towards the sky. The last rays of the setting sun fell upon his cheeks.
A gentle breeze brushed past, grazing Naruto's nose and giving a serene, tranquil feeling.
Sakumo, meanwhile, subtly felt his body temperature returning to normal. He flexed his stiff joints cautiously, his gaze falling to his palm. Under the sunlight, he noticed a faint purple hue.
Frostbite...?
Sakumo thought silently.
This child possesses an overwhelming Kekkei Genkai. In such a short time, he was able to cause frostbite.
It's worth noting that Sakumo constantly enveloped his body with a layer of chakra armor.
This high-purity chakra armor effectively blocked poisons, burns, and frostbite.
If it had been anyone else… they'd probably be heading to Tsunade's hospital by now.
He actually beat Sakumo.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, who had been watching the entire match, was momentarily stunned, his face showing a rare expression of surprise.
So distracted was he that the pipe in his mouth had already burned out without him realizing it.
Fortunately, Hiruzen was a seasoned observer. He quickly recovered and loudly declared, "Hatake Sakumo versus Uzumaki Naruto. The victor is… Uzumaki Naruto!"
As Hiruzen's words fell, cheers erupted.
"Yes!"
From the sidelines, Mikoto and Kushina jumped in excitement, their voices brimming with joy.
It was as if they themselves had defeated the famed "White Fang of Konoha."
How could they not be thrilled that their beloved had triumphed over such a legend?
Mikoto and Kushina bounded over to Naruto.
Both women looked at him with admiration. In this world, strength was universally revered.
"Naruto, you're amazing! That was White Fang!" Kushina's dark, beautiful eyes sparkled like stars.
Mikoto was no different, gazing at Naruto with warmth and affection.
"It's not as great as you think. Senior Sakumo was holding back the entire time. This result isn't conclusive," Naruto said, a modest tone in his voice.
Suddenly...
Naruto's lips curled into a sly smile as he wrapped an arm around both women. "How about we celebrate tonight with some grilled meat at the Akimichi's restaurant? It's free, after all."
Mikoto and Kushina blushed, suddenly flustered.
Kushina hesitated, her voice trembling. "Naruto, let go… There are people watching."
Ding!
Congratulations to the host for completing the system mission: Defeat Sakumo Hatake.
Reward: Three-Tomoe Sharingan.
Just as Naruto was about to tease Kushina further, a crisp voice echoed in his mind, signaling the system's notification.
In an instant, a unique chakra surged into his azure eyes.
Naruto's cerulean gaze turned crimson in the blink of an eye.
Three tomoe slowly rotated within his scarlet Sharingan.
The transformation occurred in an instant, as quickly as it had come, the Sharingan's glow faded.
Mikoto, with her keen senses, noticed a familiar chakra fluctuation, much like when she activated her own Sharingan. She looked up and saw Naruto smiling at her.
Her cheeks reddened further, and she quickly lowered her head, retreating into Naruto's embrace.

Not far away, Hiruzen pulled out his tobacco pouch, packed his pipe, and used Fire Release chakra to light it again.
Taking a deep puff, he muttered, "Without a pipe in my mouth, something just feels off."
Exhaling a slow stream of smoke, Hiruzen leapt over to Sakumo, his aged voice carrying a hint of jest.
"Quite the unexpected outcome, wouldn't you say, Sakumo?"
"Haha, I let my guard down!" Sakumo laughed heartily, scratching the back of his head, entirely unconcerned about being defeated by a genin.
"These young ones… Truly impressive. The future of Konoha lies with them," Hiruzen remarked with a note of admiration, his expression relaxed. With talents like these, Konoha's future seemed bright.
At that moment, Naruto approached Hiruzen, extending his hand. His tone was calm: "Hand it over."
"Huh?"
Hiruzen was momentarily taken aback, unsure of what Naruto was asking for.
"What do you mean, 'huh'? Hurry up and give me the Akimichi's lifetime free barbecue voucher," Naruto said, his face darkening. "Or are you, Lord Third Hokage, planning to back out of our deal?"
Standing nearby, Sakumo twitched slightly at the corners of his mouth, at a loss for words.
With the Third Hokage around, Konoha's future seems... rather unpredictable.
