Chapter 401: Killing Frenzy
"Are you telling me the ring can communicate with others?" The City Lord looked at his butler in shock.
"Yes, My Lord. I've tested it." The butler showed the City Lord the plain-looking ring on his finger.
Staring at the ordinary ring, the City Lord could hardly believe it. He'd heard of many powerful artifacts and talismans, but he had never encountered one that could instantly transmit messages without delay.
"Quick! Give me one." He commanded impatiently.
Just as the City Lord was preparing to test the magical Spirit Comms, other powerful clans in the city were in a frenzy.
Inside the Wu clan, all the elders had gathered with pensive expressions.
"What should we do? The store is only willing to sell ten Spirit Comms to us," one of the elders said in a grave voice.
"With what I've heard from my daughter, there is a powerful force behind the store. We should try to find a way to partner with them without getting on their bad side," Patriarch Wei said solemnly.
He spoke deliberately, warning the greedy elders not to overstep their bounds.
"Then, Clan Master, what should we do?" another elder asked.
The allure of the Spirit Comms was too enticing to miss.
"Let's think of a way to collaborate with the store," the Patriarch suggested.
While the Wu clan tried to find a way to cooperate peacefully with the Celestial Heavenly Store, other powerful clans were of different opinions.
In the western part of the city, the Celestial Heavenly Store stood proudly with hundreds of people gathered outside, their faces burning with anticipation.
"Out of the way!" a gruff voice shouted.
When the crowd heard the voice, they turned and saw a group of sturdy men, each wielding a weapon, marching toward them.
Quickly, the crowd parted, their faces filled with horror.
"That's the Elephant Gang!" someone exclaimed in fear.
"I knew it! A powerful artifact like that can't just be allowed in a mere new store."
"Ah! What can the store do? I hope they have a powerful martial artist."
"Hmph! What martial artist? In the presence of the Elephant Gang, they'd be destroyed."
The Elephant Gang was notorious in the city, known for their unruly and ruthless actions against weak commoners.
Unbothered by the crowd's gossip, the Elephant Gang barged into the store domineeringly. Their mission was to destroy the store and seize all the Spirit Comms.
Unfortunately for them, they had targeted the wrong store.
Bang! Bang!
"Ahhh!"
A heart-wrenching scream came from inside the store, shocking those outside. Before anyone could realize what was happening, the bodies of the Elephant Gang members were sent flying out of the store. Some had their heads severed, while others were split in two.
Fifty Elephant Gang members were killed in less than a minute. Among the dead were Master Martial Artists, while the rest were First-Rated Martial Artists.
Looking at the corpses, the crowd held their breath, their faces filled with disbelief.
'What just happened?!' they all wondered silently.
They looked into the quiet store and felt a cold shiver run down their spines. Now, they knew the store wasn't as simple as it seemed.
Just then, they saw a middle-aged man emerge from the store. The Wei Patriarch cleared his throat and spoke.
"This is a warning to anyone who dares to attack the store. Now, the store will no longer be selling the Spirit Comms."
What?!
They couldn't believe their ears. Why would the store stop selling the Spirit Comms?
"Sir, why are you doing this? We weren't the ones who attacked the store," one person in the crowd complained.
"Do you think the store cares? If you want to buy the Spirit Comms, go and kill a member of the Elephant Gang. Each kill corresponds to the number of Spirit Comms you can buy."
After saying this, the Wei Patriarch scoffed and returned to the store, leaving the crowd stunned. They couldn't believe what they had just heard.
"Damn! It was almost my turn! These bastards came and caused trouble!" a middle-aged man shouted in fury.
He looked at the corpses of the Elephant Gang members and spat on them in exasperation.
"What should we do?" someone asked in confusion.
"What else? We kill those bastards."

"Are you crazy?"
"What do you mean? I just need to kill one or two members of the Elephant Gang to buy Spirit Comms for me and my wife."
Hearing the man's idea, the crowd's eyes brightened, and they began to disperse. The Elephant Gang might be fierce and ruthless, but against thousands of people, could they withstand it?
When news of the ruthless killing of the Elephant Gang spread, everyone in Clear Wind City was stunned and wondered what would happen next.
However, that didn't stop some powerful clans from approaching the store, attempting to negotiate or even threaten their way into obtaining the Spirit Comms.
The Liao and Gao clans openly threatened the store, but the Celestial Heavenly Store remained unmoved. This wasn't the first time such a situation had occurred, and they knew how to handle it.
While the Liao and Gao clans threatened the Celestial Heavenly Store, the Bai clan went to the City Lord to discuss how they could control this valuable asset in their city.
The Bai clan had always played the role of a neutral party on the surface, but behind the scenes, they were allied with the Kang clan, to which the City Lord belonged.
"Patriarch Kang, you needn't worry. I've devised a plan that will make the store fall under our control," the City Lord said confidently.
Since verifying the magical abilities of the Spirit Comms, he knew he had to take control of the artifact's production.
While the City Lord and Kang Patriarch discussed, the fate of the Elephant Gang grew bleaker. In broad daylight, the gang members were hunted by desperate people.
Within an hour, hundreds of Elephant Gang members were killed, and their heads brought to the Celestial Heavenly Store. When they saw the store distributing the Spirit Comms in exchange, it became a killing frenzy.
