Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi

Chapter 306 Arrival at Dakler City and Heading Straight to the Baron's House (1)

Upstairs, downstairs, including the garden pavilion outside and the large warehouse had been searched thoroughly, and all significant goods, including the domestically raised poultry and livestock, were taken away, not leaving a single one behind.

Of course, the livestock weren't killed, they were just sleeping in the space, ready to be dropped into the East Ridge Secret Realm to see if they could be raised.

Ye Nai finally returned to the grand living room and, based on the positions where the men and women were now seated, took several family portraits. Then, he collected them into the space and restored all the servants' abilities to move.

After the deed was done, he used Space Teleportation and left, arriving in one step at the fork in the road outside the town.

From here, he headed for the next stop, Dakler City, in the Baron's Domain.

Ye Nai felt it was quite good to head straight for the Royal Capital on one straight path without being affected by any side branches, seizing any nobles he encountered.

At this moment, the drizzle turned into a light rain. Ye Nai wiped the raindrops off his face, got into an off-road vehicle, secured his action camera to the dashboard, pressed the accelerator, and set off.

The butler had said that it was a half-day's ride from the Knight Mansion to Baron City on horseback, leaving in the morning and arriving in the afternoon. She wanted to see how long it would take by car.

Soon after driving out of Dewell Town, he entered the wilderness where the roads worsened, as if there were no road maintenance workers at all. Driving along, he could see traces made by the wheels of ox carts and horse carts, and smaller potholes that might have been made by hooves.

The ride was definitely bumpy, but Ye Nai's vehicle was better—military off-road vehicles aimed to protect the driver in extreme environments, using various shock-absorbing technologies that would only be found in high-end civilian cars.

So while the vehicle bounced, Ye Nai sat on airbag-cushioned seats, feeling only mild jolts, not enough to lift him from his seat. He didn't have to be too tense, reducing driving fatigue.

No wonder a genuine military off-road was the most coveted vehicle for private squads. No matter how expensive civilian off-roads were, military-exclusive technology wouldn't be used in civilian vehicles.

After bouncing along for over three hours, he gradually began to see pedestrians and ox carts by the roadside.

Without exception, they were terrified, rushing into the wilderness as they saw the massive iron beast speeding towards them.

"What is that thing?!"

All the frightened people were exclaiming.

But the iron monster had long since passed, never stopping to respond to them.

As Dakler City's walls appeared in view, the number of pedestrians and vehicles by the roadside increased, all scared into chaos.

Seeing this scene, Ye Nai was increasingly convinced that the benefits of the war waged by the upper classes of this Otherworld country had not trickled down to the lower nobles and commoners.

They had never seen a car, nor were they aware of any information related to automobiles. Their reaction was entirely that of people seeing this novel item for the first time, unsure of its safety.

Ye Nai couldn't believe that the enemies from Blue Star didn't know what a car was; they surely knew, but the size didn't fit their overly large statures, unable to fit into Blue Star's vehicles. Even the space in big trucks felt cramped for them, but this was different from erecting informational barriers to prevent the dissemination of information.

The commoners didn't even know who they were fighting against. Seeing the obvious height difference in her, they didn't even suspect whether she was a native of their planet.

This incredulous sense of absurdity made Ye Nai wonder if she killed all the upper class nobles, would the commoners not oppose and even applaud?

The guards at the city gate raised long spears, attempting to stop her.

Ye Nai actually slammed on the brakes at the city gate and stopped the car.

Then, everyone nearby, including the soldiers at the gate and even the street dogs, were knocked out by spores.

After confirming there was no immediate danger inside or outside the city gate, Ye Nai slowly opened the door, got out of the car, and picked one of the soldiers from the ground to wake and interrogate.

"Hey, wake up and tell me, how do I get to Baron's house?"

After the soldier woke up, he was naturally uncooperative at first. Ye Nai directly let him enjoy a one-minute pain package, experiencing sharp pain in every essential organ.

After enduring that round, the soldier, gasping as if he had narrowly escaped death, had a clear look in his eyes and obediently described the route to the Baron's mansion.

Dakler City and the surrounding fields were all part of the Baron's domain, but he himself did not like the countryside and usually resided in the only mansion in the city.

Ye Nai got back into her vehicle and drove into the city.

The city residents were present, given that so many people were lying at the city gate; those living nearby did not dare to come closer, but they were courageous enough to watch the commotion.

Seeing the steel monster enter, they dispersed in a hubbub, yet they did not go far and just watched from a distance.

The residents in front of Ye Nai's vehicle would scatter as the vehicle approached and regroup behind it after it had passed.

In this way, the residents along the street moved like waves, scattering and regrouping, scattering and regrouping, following this unfamiliar steel monster until they reached the outside of Baron Dakler's mansion.

The route from the city gate to the Baron's house was very straightforward, just along the widest avenue. Ye Nai drove around the city, passing the front of the mansion twice.

When she circled back for the third time, she saw that soldiers armed with long swords and shields had already lined up in formation on the main street.

Just one encounter, and all these soldiers fell to the ground, unconscious.

The onlookers a short distance away at the crossroads screamed and finally scattered to escape, not looking back.

Ye Nai opened the door, got out of her vehicle, put her action camera back on, and then stored her vehicle in her Space. She pushed open the partially closed street gate and walked into the front garden.

Earlier, her drive around the city had confirmed what the city guard had said about the sole mansion in the city.

This was the main city in the Baron's domain, and other than this Baron's mansion, no other houses in the city were permitted to be bigger or better.

Ye Nai felt this was appropriate, as there was a nobility grading system, and it was natural for each level to have its rules that forbade exceeding certain limits in housing construction.

At the entrance of the mansion, an elderly male butler stood there and respectfully bowed to Ye Nai.

"Honored Great Witch, please come inside."

Yet, Ye Nai stopped at the doorway, looking at the butler.

"Why do you call me Great Witch?"

"Anyone proficient in communicating with and using the Power of Nature is collectively known as a wizard, divided into wizards and witches by gender. Your spellcasting speed was incredibly fast; just now, so many soldiers on the street fell down in an instant. By the standards I am aware of, you are at least of the ruler level, a Great Witch."

"You have an eye for it."

"You are too humble, Your Excellency. It's just that your spellcasting speed is too fast, something that witches and wizards below a Great Witch and Great Wizard cannot achieve."

What ranks are there above Great Witch?"

"Above that is the representative and spiritual symbol, the Witch Saint. Each wizard's direction of study and development differs from the moment they enter the field, as does their expertise. The number of Witch Saints in a country represents the pinnacle of that nation's witchcraft strength."
