Not Alone



Jacob demonstrated his quantum digitizer.

"What for?" asked his wife Margaret, a nuclear physicist.

"To send messages to another part of the galaxy."

"Just our galaxy?"

"Yes, because other galaxies are moving too fast."

"But Jacob, even if there's only one advanced species per galaxy, there's still trillions."

"That's true, Margaret, but impossible to contact."

"Hmm, what are you hoping to accomplish?"

"To make first contact, of course."

"And if you do? How will you ever meet them?"

"Due to the laws of physics, probably never, but it'll mean we're not alone."

"You're alone right now?" She raised an eyebrow.
