Chapter 8: Saturday - Storm on the floor
Mikoto, standing on the stage, on the line along with the other alleged contestants, next to Inoue and with the silenced Last-Order in her arms; could physically feel the eyes directed at her from the audience and the cameras. With a dewy face, she had an incredible urge to ease her nerves and at least hack the cameras to delete herself from the live broadcast. It was almost like a natural bad habit for her, to reduce the number of eyes looking at her in this way. Although it is certainly very suitable for cases like this 'project of their school'; she didn't have to be a genius to realize, that over half of the people around her, hang out here randomly and the rest let their natural personalities run their course with they minimal input. So much for (no plan at all) improvisation. One way or another, she came to the conclusion, that if she is to survive without serious harm to the health of the spectators or present participants, it would be best if she force herself into a role of (Eye candy) spectator and, would not react to anything significantly.
.
The presentation of the contestants was over and it was time to move on to the competition itself. As soon as both moderators stepped back from the front of the stage, to stand whit the other contestants, the music changed to something mysterious. Immediately after that, a poof sounded in the marked square and a thick cloud of smoke screen rolled out. Just like when ninjas use their smoke ninja bombs in different stories. As the cloud dissipated, it revealed a grinning red-haired figure dressed in something that resembled a magician from an illusion show. True, the tall black hat and dark cloak contributed significantly.
It was a: Musujime Awaki, 17y Level-4 Esper: [Move Point] (Coordinate Movement) This girl with dark red long hair tied in two low ponytails, prefers to wear her unbuttoned (Kirigaoka Girls' Academy) school jacket around her shoulders as if it were a sleeveless cloak. Thanks to her similar appearance to Shirai, similar teleport ability, similar fighting style and similar high self-esteem to the point of arrogance, she can be mistaken for Shirai Kuroko's older sister. Although in mathematical numbers she surpasses her younger rival, she have a different limitations. They are in ideological conflict when Awaki, think about esper abilities as something: "Humans shouldn't have them." While Shirai praise others esper talent. Musujime is a Shota-con [Shota (boy) instead of Loli (girl)], but she have a female friend (and colleagues) who was used as hostage, so she will do dark side bidding. Since she can move objects without touching them, she needs a mental sub-medium [a tool such as a flashlight] to better control her overpowering ability.
Like the aforementioned illusion magician in a showman pose, she enthusiastically delivered a short opening speech, for her entrance to the show to excite the audience. She pulled a patrol flashlight [a light with a long, sturdy handle so it can be used as a baton and tool to direct her esper power] from behind her belt and twirled it as if it were a magic wand. She run jumped from the stage to the parquet floor. Where she start showing her dance moves, while she began to use her touchless teleportation ability, and began to summon objects from behind the stage. With additional support from the other hidden collaborators, this performance looked exactly like a magic show. Visual and sound effects from confetti, through sparks, to small explosions complemented the summoning of furniture on the secondary stage on the parquet. Before the performance reached its final point, she summoned everything necessary for the next cooking competition. From empty tables with tablecloths; through carts and trails with dishes ingredients; to a rich collection of kitchen equipment. The last type were tables strewn with food from fruit to flour to packets of sweets. That is, unless we count semi-mobile refrigerators with mysterious contents, and something that looking like stoves. The last to appear was the fancy staircase leading from the stage to the floor. When the last confetti fell to the ground, the red-haired woman bowed deeply to audience and was lifted up to air by a mysterious force. In a pirouette and leaving behind a fire-sparkling special effect, she soared like a rocket to the second floor, where she jumped down (touched down) on the reserved landing spot.
.
Grinning Tsuchimikado appeared in front of the audience as the main commentator. "So ladies and gentlemen, it should be clear by now that the first competition will be closely related to food. So I'm going to ask the contestants to move to our little kitchen arena."
He was joined by his fired-up black-haired colleague Saten. "To make it more fun, we will let our contestants to create teams. Their task will be to prepare something tasty for our jury. If there is enough, some of our viewers will also get to taste it. And of course, skills of all kind are allowed. But in order not to forget the main motive of this event, we must to remind you that the main purpose is to present the Tokiwadai school to potential new students. What will be more effective, than when someone who is already studying here, will answers questions of curious young ladies? Surely, some of you have already noticed the second floor occupied by Tokiwadai ladies. These ladies will visit the audience one by one to answer yours questions about the study and school. If you don't get to talk to them in this hall, don't despair! There will be plenty of time during the break in the garden and for the second part of our program. In conclusion, I will ask that aspiring gentlemen refrain from taking too much interest in the Tokiwadai beauties, so that the security guards do not have to escort you under the scalpel."
.
A disgruntled Index in the white robes of a nun flocked to them. "Objection! I definitely don't like something about what you said was going to happen here. What do you mean by: Prepare food for the jury, for the audience? I thought we were going to eat it down there! That I can beat it all to the last bit!"
She was immediately joined by the half-panicked Himegami in the red and white robes of a Shinto priestess. "What happened to the eat-what-you-can contest? What happened to the hamburgers?"
Saten, amused by their reaction, grinned wildly. "No worries my hungry friends! Relax! Did you even notice, of how much food, down there is? There's guaranteed to be enough left over to fill you up, twice." She thumb pointed toward the piles on tables.
At that, Tsuchimikado jumped into the conversation, raising an instructive finger. "My dear Saten chan, you greatly underestimate the ocean level deep stomachs of trained gluttony. Where do you think we live? This is Gakuen-Toshi. [Academic City] They are not joking about they desire to eat-what-you-can. So, if these two get going, it's not sure if there will be enough left for anyone else."
.
As they speak, the other contestants moved from the stage to the floor.
In a momentary pause, a black-haired girl in a High-Tech jumpsuit approached the brown-haired trio with identical faces, speaking to them in a whisper with a reprimanding tone. ("Hey, where did you park my robot? I hope you didn't irresponsibly leave it somewhere like a piece of scrap metal. What if some irresponsible idiot got his hands on it and wanted to try it out? Or worse, misuse it? I hope it is clear to you that this is an extremely advanced and potentially dangerous weapon system?")
Mikoto was speechless and an embarrassing drop of sweat settled on her cheek. Unlike others, she knew very well what modern robots can do, and if they are controlled by someone who does not fully understand what they are doing, it can very quickly turn into a large-scale tragedy.
However, unlike her, Inoue was completely unchanged. ("No worries Shutaura-san. Your spider mother robot is safe under the operational control of another Misaka. She is still within operational range at the sentry post. The systems check is in full swing, but the vibration property of the saddle are already highly praised. Announcing Misaka as Misaka, adding in a whisper that a towel will need to be delivered to said Misaka.")
.
Sequenzia obviously didn't understand even a hint of what the brunette meant by that vibration. The conflicting data in the answer left her confused with a question in her face.
A second drop of sweat settled on Mikoto's face. The hint of talk about another sister made her act drastically. Before the black-haired girl could utter another question she expressly moved her palm from the mouth of one of her sisters to the mouth of the other to prevent her from speaking at all.
However, this meant that the little one in her arms was free to speak. "Of course... As the failed, personal experiment of eleven thousand one hundred and eleven showed: To make a coconut pineapple cocktail; it is not enough to put these ingredients directly into a blender and run it. It is clear that there is an additional missing step in the recipe to get the desired result. However, even if the abundant presence of these raw materials is confirmed on a nearby table, we should not focus our efforts solemnly on a goal that continues to have such a high probability of failure, Misaka as Misaka gives her opinion."
.
Sequenzia had to come to the conclusion that these sisters were operating on a completely different wavelength than she was. Rather than trying to understand what was going on in their minds, with an embarrassing drop of sweat on her face, she preferred to move on to the next question. "Sure, but how could you see me even through active cloaking?"
"Unlike Onee-sama, the sisters need to use 'Electron Night Vision Googles' to even come close to the structure of big-sister signature stats, Misaka as Misaka explains like all knowing, been silent over the fact that the difference in numerical values achieved is downright abysmal."
At this moment, Mikoto put down her mini version to stand on the floor; so she can cover little-one mouth with her free hand. "Ehe, he, he." She let out an embarrassing laugh, with a third embarrassing drop on her face, as she covered both of her sisters' mouths so they wouldn't say anything that might lead this head of a private security agency to a clue about a certain project. "If your robot is full of electrical circuits or surrounded by its own electric field, it would be almost impossible for us not to notice it. Especially for me, it would be like a crying for an attention." For a moment, she hesitated over her own remark, but suddenly perked up with a friendly smile. "Don't worry! I'll arrange for it to be returned to you, and if it could be done without a record so that no one would pry into it afterwards, that would be great. Believe me, it would cause more problems than good."
.
Shutaura frowned for a second before allowing the promise. "Alright." She answered and the drop of sweat finally ran down her face. "But…" Without stopping to look at them, she pointed her index finger to the side. "What is with this person who has been staring at me so intently since the moment we started talking?"
Index was standing just a step distance away, staring at her as if she was looking straight into her soul. "Hmmm. Arisa promised we'd sing together. Do you plan to keep her promise? Her life was also your miracle, even if it didn't develop as you wish. But one became two, and then the two became one. She wasn't an illusion, she was real and there was no denying that. I see her memories and abilities as your younger sister hidden within you. Shutaura Sequenzia, I ask you to take your sister..."
.
The high-tech neoprene suit girl completely panicked. To prevent the silver-white haired nun from talking about the 'Miracle 88' incident that she is closely associated with, then following the example of the brunette, she grabbed the big-lipped smaller girl from behind and covered her mouth with her palm. "W- what kind of fabricated stories are you talking about here?! Do- do you want to cause an unfortunate incident?! Do you intend to cause something, that shall not to happen?!" Then she become serious. "In contrary to others here, you seem to be too suspicious, to be a preacher of a peaceful faith. The way you just walk into scene of incident, talk what you wants and they just accept it, and always get away. Disasters, follow your footsteps or it look that you follow disasters. Suspicious, very suspicious!" She grew even more serious, her expression as if she had caught a suspect who was too slippery to be noticed. "Don't be in a hurry! I'll get you a nice cozy room where you can answer all my questions..." But suddenly Shutaura speech got interrupted, when she felt an overwhelming (assault?) intent. On instinct, she jumped to the side, with the nun in her arms. She barely avoided a lunge from guardian, who flew straight up-down on the floor, like some kind of dropped bomb.
It was Kanzaki Kaori, 18y Mage- Saint. A 170 cm tall attractive Japanese girl with very long black hair tied in a ponytail with a ribbon, but still reaching her hips in length. She mostly wears customized jeans/denim whit a white T-shirt, tied in a knot so that it leave visible her belly button. One of her jeans leg and arm is ripped off leaving her skin exposed, and the sleeve is replaced by a feather ornament. Women's cowboy boots and a belt sticking out for her weapon. She is always accompanied by her inseparable partner, the two-meter long cavalry katana Shichitou [seven heavenly swords], which she perhaps carries to the bathroom or to the toilet. Thanks to her position as a saint, the former post of the pope at the Amakusa church and the current one position with Necessarius, she has developed a serious persona of an ice queen who never has time for pranks. However her manner of speech and demeanor when serious resemble that of a Samurai. That making her an easy target for her friends' pranks, (especially the arch-bishop), where a precise hit will cause her to completely break her cool and have a (hot or moe) panic worth watching.
Just like Sequenzia, Mikoto reacted by grabbing both of her sisters by the waist and jumping with them from the impact site even though it was actually not necessary.
Normally, one would assume that with such fast an impact, a shock wave would come down, knocking everything around. However, the samurai's attack, landing in a squat, did not cause her to break through the floor into basement and did not even leave a scratch on the wood. She slowly stood up with one hand holding the sheath with its katana and glared at Shutaura very dangerously. She probably expected that the raid itself would save Index without having to hurt anyone. But the high-tech girl jumped away with the nun. Samurai, determined to get Index back, was already preparing for another lunge, slowly reaching for the hilt of her sword with her other hand.
.
However, the other black-haired girl was not going to just to watch. She recognized the armed aggressor as a potentially dangerous suspect who had already successfully disrupted her investigation. She promptly drew her revolver from the holster at her hip and aimed it at the assailant/attacker. "Don't even think about using that katana."
Kanzaki stopped, but it wasn't gun-girl words or her fire-arm that stopped her from attacking. It only took a few seconds for Shutaura to realize that the samurai was not taking her revolver too seriously. But what stopped that woman was the nun in her arm. With a fixed look and an outstretched hand in a stopping gesture, she clearly told sword-master to: (Stop!) Almost as if the silver haired girl didn't even cared about the danger she was supposed to be in. Of course, this caught the two black-haired by surprise, as if they realized that they had come to the wrong conclusion.
.
To make matters worse, another young female jumped into the enclosure wearing something that resembled blue modified Anti-Skill's combat service uniform. In her arms, like a princess, she held another young lady who gave the impression of wealthy mistress in a state of panic.
The mistress was: Estelle Rosenthal, (17?) a Mage, a (necromancer). A green-eyed blonde with two black ribbons on her sides. She wears a black cloak, a white sleeveless blouse, and a red skirt with a large belt. She is the head of her family/familia, that are specializing in the (unique?) creation of golems in the pursuit of the perfect golem. They took the art to the extreme where the reanimated object has a pre-created artificial personality and is capable of independent decision-making. It goes so far that it reached the marking of Taboo. When she met Accelerator, she realized how much she lacked the courage to cross certain boundaries to reach a justice, and so she recognized him as her Sensei [teacher/master of the given art] in order to get this 'courage' from him. [Accelerator/Idol Manga]
The servant is: Hitokawa Hasami, (19?) (former?) Level 2 Esper: [Pyro-kinetic] This reanimated corpse is something like a (flesh) golem with the appearance of a young woman with brown eyes and long brown hair. Thanks to an artificial personality and a fake soul, she has only a fraction of her memories, if any, of her original life. While reviving process, Accelerator inadvertently touched her mind and her memories. Therefore, it is not certain if the increase in physical strength has something to do with his intervention, or if it is the result of the Esper's revival, or the evolution that the golem underwent in combination with Rosenthal magic to improve the golem's stats. Either way, she acts like an emotionless puppet determined to protect and serve her Adonai without limit. [her master]
Either way, that Hasami's jump from somewhere was definitely longer than ten or twenty meters. Even if the squat landing was relatively elegant, the blonde's shriek, the crackling of the parquet and the dent that had formed on impact under them, did not look so elegant anymore. Their arrival received immense attention. It seemed that both black haired females, including #3, and new arrived couple; were too close to engage in a battle-royal [last one standing is the winner], for no reason.
.
Then someone intervene. "That would be enough!!" Thundered Accelerator, hovering three meters above the parquet floor arena for the competition. He modulated his voice to the point where it was almost like the voice of God. [a very angry god ready to unleash divine wrath on mortals]
First one to respond was the anti-skill jacket servant girl, speaking to her mistress. "Oh, Adonai. Look! It's your Sensei."
Of course, the lady had something more urgent to address. "Ha- Hasami-chan, when I said we should get closer, I didn't mean ju- jumping into the middle of the action."
.
The white-haired Esper clicked his tongue in displeasure and descended to the floor. "Tcs! I see, that she still has no idea what quietly means. What do you want here, Estelle?!"
The servant put her mistress down so she could stand on her own two feet. She herself remained silent because it was a conversation between her Adonai and her master's sensei.
But before the blonde open her mount to speak, the well-known nun in white, (now free), ignored the black-haired pair and approached the new pair. Looking at the blonde with frowning expression, she spoke in a reprimanding tone. "A heretic, and in broad daylight. What..."
This time it was Estelle who panicked to the point of hasty covering Index's mouth with both hands. "Po- Pope's Walking-Church?!! Y- y- y- your clarity, and here?!" She paled at the sight of her robe, for what the short girl was wearing was a preciousness intended for the head of a church with millions of believers. However, she suddenly began to realize who she was really talking to, as the nun was staring at her with eyes that was saying: (This mount covering is mockery!) "Index of forbidden books?" She was horrified. She knew about this creature's ability to analyze magical phenomena and objects just by looking at them. What more, she heard about her direct connection to the church inquisition operations. So she plead: "T- t- t- this is not what it look! I- Its completely different! It was my great-grandfather who broke the taboo! Not me, or familia. I'm just trying to correct the sins he spread around the world. It's my duty as the head of our familia to clear our family's name." Index, still glaring at her, pointed her hand at her partner as she saw that it was actually a zombie. "Oh... That soul is a fake, an artificial pretense. Compared to the great-grandfather, no disrespect occurred there. She's actually…" Suddenly she start speaking more to the topic, explaining her point of view. "Actually, she's just the highest level in golemancy. The church has arbitrarily expanded its taboo policy, to include items it does not have under its thumb, in order to artificially increase the church influence. The moment they start owning it, it will be taken as a necessary beneficial evil."
.
Despite her panic and suspicion, thanks to Accelerator's aura, no one present dared to intervene. Neither did Kanzaki, who was gripping the hilt of her katana tightly in displeasure. So #1 spoke again in his normal-annoyed tone. "Tcs. You still haven't answered my question. Estelle, what do you want here?"
"S- Sensei, I-, was hired for an independent investigation." She pulled herself together quickly with determination in her voice, but her spirit suddenly dropped. "Regarding my field."
.
"Incredibly annoying." #1 stated in displeasure, not looking lees annoyed that moment ago. "Rather than rope these scattered groups, they could have packed the entire Academy city into one building and the problem would have been over. Do whatever you want, but especially don't get in the way of the bullets. Tcs!" With a displeased click of his tongue, he turned his attention to Kanzaki. "So what about this modern day Japanese samurai?"
She clearly didn't like that remark, and despite her cold nature, she was definitely not far from scolding him. But her combat experience deterred her from teasing this white-haired individual. With clenched teeth, she searched for suitable words.
However, the still grinning blond Tsuchimikado answered instead. "Ah, as you see: nee-chin [his diminutive for addressing Kanzaki as his older sister] Kaori and Stiyl kun are here for our cause. Plus, they're sort of like Index's chan adoptive parents, so they get a little nervous if someone so boldly claims that he want to kidnap her. Maybe someone in the background pulled the strings to cause a fight. So it would be appropriate if we didn't indulge him."
.
Accelerator, not pleased with any of the answers, frowned even more. He completely ignored the black-robed, red-haired priest with a barcode-shaped tattoo on his cheek standing a little behind Shutaura. He moved his gaze and looked over to perhaps the biggest problem in the enclosure. "Is that so? Then you can tell me who is this one? The crawler, who is trying to conceal her presence in a very pathetic way."
Somebody was trying to sneak around. It was a: Juufuku Miho, a 13y Level 2x Esper: [Dummy Check] This shy girl with brown hairs gathered in a odango style [balls], whose bangs cover her excessively thick eyebrows and part of one eye. Her ability allows her to suppress her own presence to the point where others ignore her as if she wasn't there. In the Level-UP incident, she push it to the point where they were looking directly at her, but couldn't see her, even though she was standing right in front of them. Since Saten Ruiko complimented her on her eyebrows, which she is ashamed of, and forgave her actions, she developed a direct romantic affection/dependency towards her.
Right now, this girl was already in the excluded area trying to pass around unnoticed as if she was a staff. "Eh, you see me?" She fidgeted nervously, her gaze darting from side to side. "Eh, I'm a contestant." Embarrassed, she pointed to the yellow ribbon on her shoulder that she had probably secretly pulled from Shirai's side bag, when that dog was low on guard. "S- Saten san, while we're at it, can I prepare something for you?" She blushed addressing the black haired commentator. "And-, or at least, you can taste it?" Her voice dropped to a whispering as that aforementioned flower-adorned girl approached her with unsteady steps and sweat on her face.
The commentator definitely had a question about how she got there, but she just repeated the name of her ability [Dummy Check] and it was clear to her. Even her real intention, which was Juufuku's affection for Saten. Ruiko, not knowing what to do with Miho, so as not to break into pieces her broken heart, which is full of love for her, completely forgot about her post as a commentator and just let her speak. Which was such level of mumble that the black-haired must step really close to hear that girl who hung her head so down that she would practically stared to the floor if the other person was not in front of her.
.
The accelerator mumbled something to himself disgruntled as he descend to the floor and walked back toward the stage. He looked very dissatisfied, as if he was seriously looking for a reason to send someone to the after world. But he was actually angry by their shallow motives for joining this local circus of nonsense.
Index was completely free, because blonde Estelle had long since withdraw her hands from her mouth, but only a little in front of her. No one else tried to take possession of her either, so she called after the one who was leaving. "A question. Do you mind if I finish what you started with her golem?" The red-eyed one turned to her with an annoyed expression, that asked what she meant. But she was always full of confidence. "I'll fix Hasami, Sequenzia and Arisa, all together."
.
Accelerator, stop in front of the stairs. As he turn back he tilled his head, but in not cute way, as some ruffian from dark side alley. "Wha~at?... Not that I care a micron about any of that. Do what you want. There's plenty of crazy-morons around here anyway. Shit... How do you even imagining, to do that?" He bark back, knowing that Hasami, Estell's servant and guard, is actually a corpse that moves thanks to Estell's abilities. On the other hand, with the black-haired girl, he felt as if there was someone else there, and the little one just confirmed it.
"I start whit this." Declared the nun in white, spreading her arms to the sides and already took a breath to chant. Touma from the judge's table, calling out to her, trying to convinced her to wait, demanded to knew, what she was going to sing. He was aware of the devastating potential of her (group like?) chanting, which could send an entire combat-capable unit to the ground. But she was already at it. With her arms open and her eyes closed, she released an area-scale spell from her mouth. (Even if she is forbidden to use a magic, she using a lot of magic related stuff, to be more capable that some magicians.)
.
It was like a stage performance on its own.
It was a song and at the same time, it wasn't a song.
It was music and it wasn't music at the same time.
It was a chant with and without words at the same time.
It was a spell that gently caressed the hearts of everyone who was able to hear it. [PS: Touma is fully immune to Index's chants. Actually, he can't even hear them. But still, in any case, he put his right hand on its head.]
It was a pleasantly warm melody. It brought many viewers to tears, while others froze in dumb amazement. After just a few seconds, they could recall an attractive young lady with an excessively generous bust, large round glasses, and long brown hair in a college uniform. Even without words, they remembered her name: (Hyouka).
In front of the nun an anomaly occurred. Something, like silhouette covered in a glitched television signal. As if the holographic transmission signal was so bad in quality, that signal-noise build up. Or, it was as if someone was tuning a radio or TV trying to figure the right frequency.
Index held out her hands in front of her in a welcoming gesture to an old friend. That friend reached out its hand, and zhey palms connect in gentle gasp. In a short time, the signal noise faded away.
When nun finished singing, there stood in front of her, the lady everyone imagined. The last rumbles of instability reverberated until they completely disappeared.
It was a Kazakiri Hyouka, an AIM Entity [Counter Stop/ unknown identity] (The Glitch Girl. Key to the imaginary quarter of the five elements.) This girl is a cluster of AIM fields and something of an artificially created angel on the scientific side, she has a modest and somewhat timid nature, but does not hesitate to take risks for his friends. She can seem to be timid, but determined to stand for her friends.
.
The nun smiled warmly. "Welcome home Hyouka."
"I'm... at home." She answered uncertainly flooded with a wave of emotions from being able to communicate with her friend once again and not just watching from behind the mirror. Added to the embarrassment that when it happened she was not getting any words. However, she suddenly yelped because the Shinto priestess [Miko] Himegami Aisa, put her foot down near to her, holding a salt shaker or vase and started throwing its content at her, as if trying to cleanse an evil spirit. [exorcism] "Kiaaa!! Hi- Himegami, I'm seriously not a ghost! So please stop it already."
"That's exactly what any spirit intent on possessing someone would say. Plus, I think it works." Aisa puffed out her cheeks in annoyance, watching as the image of the optical glasses brunette received cracks of beauty in the form of a few TV-signal glitches. Of course, Index immediately tried to stop her Shinto friend, demanding from her to wait at side.
On the other hand, the Accelerator, who had been watching it for a good distance, continued to seethe with dissatisfaction. He had already met the optical glasses lady, but remembering her as someone with a too weak determination to fight, made his veins on face boil. "Great-- another weakling! So this is your answer, little one? Pathetic!!" He barked at the nun in white, completely ignoring the timidly offended look from Hyouka.
.
"Just wait, I'm just getting started." Index answered him with a determined expression. She quickly looked around at the people present and suddenly focused her attention on Estelle. She ran over to point her index finger at the brunette in the modified Anti-Skill duty uniform. "Show me the pattern of the formula you used for her, I know you have it on parchment."
The Necromancer panicked at that request. "Eeeeh? Do- do you realize what you're asking of me? Y- you are that Index of Forbidden Books, letting you know something like that, would be like..." She hesitated, looking at her partner, who was standing there emotionlessly, awaiting commands from her Adonai.
The white-haired monster, despite his dissatisfied expression, showed a hint of interest in what was going to happen. "Do it!" He spoke to encourage the blonde, who once again lacked the courage to step boldly into the unknown.
.
Both Index and Estelle gave him a deep looks. Finally, the blonde sighed and pulled out a few slips of paper from the folds of her dress to show them to the blonde. A miniature of a very complex magic circle was drawn in red on these square parchments.
Platinum girl examined that parchments without touching him. "Hmm. Hmm. I see. It's indeed of a higher permission-invoking nature. So I'm going to need an impulse." Her serious gaze focused on Mikoto, who was still holding both sisters under her arms. She ran to them. "Hey short hair you can summon lightning right? How big can you throw?"
The oldest brunette from the trio was really confused, wondering if she should answer her at all, or to stay silent just to be safe.
When she didn't have time to answer, the smallest of them started to speak. "Misaka has to take advantage of the big sister's hesitation to ask what the singing voice nun's ability is, because the preliminary analysis is split. Visual telepathy, practical territory application, multiple-spectral empathy, personal-level manipulation of AIM fields, vector modulation of audio output (without a buffer, a sub-buffer, or even a primitive speaker), or unknown gem-stone esper power. Misaka as Misaka is swept away because the letter of contradictions continues."
The other continued in dialog. "Even through the unknown, Inoue has to praise the efforts of the white-haired person in white. The singing was pleasant and positive. That 'Buff' left an impression not only on this Misaka, but partly also on the entire Misaka network. The members of the network are pleased with this output and therefore this Misaka in unity with the other sisters gives a thumbs up."
.
Index tilted her head to the side incomprehendingly. "I don't understand the terms you're using at all. But what's important. Short haired, if you don't want to help, say it straight. However,- if you can't talk, just show what you can do."
"That's not the issue here!" Railgun regained her composure, keeping her guard up. "As for the intensity of the electric discharge, I can send over one billion volts without any problems. If it come to it, I can kill a person with just one volt."
.
Index with puzzled expression tilted her head to the other side. "What are volts?"
A certain eyebrow at the brunette face immediately twitched. "Listen, you techno-phobe, [fear of technology] you better be careful. She put her sisters on their feet. Then she brought her hand to the nun with an open palm as if she was holding an apple in it that she wanted to show her. Between her fingers a small buzzing electric arc, jumped between each of her finger. "This is exactly one thousand volts."
.
The plump nun, however for a moment, closed her eyes in disappointment expression. "That's all you can do? I wanted a flash, not a sparkler. You said you knew a billion."
A blood veins swelled on Railgun forehead. "So, long haired want to be burn to ash by a lightning?" She stretched out both of her hands with open palms above her, as if she herself were a human coil. The small arch became a proper arch, extending into a wide area. Almost as if between her palms the lightning danced an unknown dance, illuminating the surroundings with a blue glow, while the music was its electric hum of tension and the singing was crackle of tension. "So how about a thousand times stronger. This is about a million and don't even dare ask me for more or you'll get hurt! This is no toy!"
.
"Hmm. Roughly speaking, you say? Hmm." Index commented to herself as she pondered over the brunette's words, still intently watching her outburst. "One thousand times more? I understand. You capable to do a billion? Then, around two hundred million volts, will be enough for my formula. Short hair, will be you able, to throw that amount?"
The face of the most powerful electro-master in city, twisted into an angry smile. She let go that electric discharge above her, which subsequently rose to a height where it disappeared into air. "Of course I can do it, who do you think I am anyway?! However, my name is not what you referring, Short-haired! It is..." She was about to say her name along with a really scolding look, but she was interrupted, when she realized that the nun was no longer standing in front of her. So Mikoto baked after her, stamping the floor: "HEY!!"
.
Index completely ignored this barking at her, move to free space on parquet floor, got down on all fours limbs, and started drawing something with chalk.
Of course, Necromancer Estelle got worried about what might come out from this endeavor. This will be a spell ceremony prepared by the living and walking encyclopedia of hard-core magic knowledge, after she saw even a small piece of the formula of her unorthodox magic. So the lady tried to dissuade the nun from doing it, or at least confirm whether she is preparing for something inadmissible for her position in church. After all, this nun said, she would fix Hasami, who was actually a corpse/zombie, a person who died. This blonde had no idea if that meant, that Index would rise her from death, cleanse/sweep her, smite her to dust, or anything else beyond her imagination.
To make matters worse, the swordswoman Kanzaki also joined the attempt to spoke some sense to the nun. She was aware that Index had called the blonde a heretic, and that parchment with the magic circle had proven that she is a mage. The little one also mentioned the taboo and Samurai wanted an explanation of what nun was trying to do. If it was a flagrant violation of taboo, it would be Kanzaki duty as her guardian to prevent her from doing so.
.
However, Index cooled their fears by saying that their worries are just an embarrassing mistake, a misunderstanding or a misinterpretation of the facts. She does not try to do taboo or dark magic at all. It is a coincidence of chances that resulted in a stuck cog in the hourglass. She not only correcting the mistake of the dark hero with red eyes, which he does not even know about. At the same time, she restarts the unfinished work of the hero with an exceptional right-hand, which escaped her attention because she herself was not there. With the help of the present elements, she will bring both tasks to a successful end. Not only will it increase the value of the place for their current role, at same time it will save a few people who deserve it. She must act while the window of opportunity is still open. On contrast she state that it will be a better show for the audience than watching her starve there. In the end, she strongly reminded to Saint, that due to the exceptional situation, she could not linger on a lengthy explanation. She has limited time to perform the ceremony and she would be happy if no one hinder her and all will passionately wait until she needs them.
Kanzaki clicked her tongue in displeasure. Since her Index had already made up her mind to complete the magic circle, she looked aggressively at the likely source of her rebellious behavior; turning her head in direction of that white-haired Esper with an extremely powerful aura.
.
He noticed her stare and the fighting message in it. Turning to her, he automatically reached for the switch on his neck. From his look, it was as if he subconsciously accepted her challenge.
To her it was almost as if he was mocking her and her uneasiness reached its peak. She suddenly forgot, about her coldness, that she should hold back and went on the attack. Whatever the red-eyed man was planning to do, she definitely wasn't going to let him do it. At super sonic speed, she whizzed across the floor toward the stage. She suddenly appeared in front of him, in the moment he flipped the switch.
Someone could imagine how she draws her two-meter long katana at superhuman speed and cuts in half him, the armchair and the wall behind. Someone would tell how that lunge turned him into a cannonball that would demolish the stage and the wall. Someone would stop that blade with his free hand holding an evil smile on his face. And someone, instead of getting a hit will produce a sound of reflection and the samurai would fly backwards in pain.
.
But none of that was true, none of that happened. Kanzaki, in perfect position to attack with one hand on the wooden sheath and the other on the hilt, stiffened directly in front of him. The katana didn't even move from its sheath. At the same time, she stared at the opponent in front of her with wide eyes. (She was unable to attack or threat her opponent.) No matter how much she probed him, her fighting spirit and fighting skills were preventing her to draw, or were not enough to see the proverbial hole in his defenses. It feels like a perfect defense. The only thing she was looking at was the irrefutable fact that she was not capable of defeating the opponent in front of her. An icy drop of sweat ran down her face.
Accelerator smiled darkly, leaning towards her. "Hey, hey! That's great. You have my approval swordsman. This is the first time in a while when a dace challenger has ever stopped before his first move. Do you owe it to your fighting experience? Or do you owe it to your samurai creed? Or, your fighting skills that were faster than your stupid head? I don't care about any of that. I know you're powerful, but don't bother me with your moaning. Go bark at a tree!" His smile faded as he lean back to armchair. "I don't care about your Taboo or any of that shit. If anyone has a problem with what Estelle is doing, fine by me, but... Any moron should know by now, how any confrontation whit me is going to end." Without further ado, he walked to the stage again. He turned off his abilities only after settling into the chair. The fact that he returned to the chair at all and did not leave the area was a message, that he wanted to see what would happen. Of course he caught a silent note from Kamijou, to which he barked something like a jerk. However, to the uninformed audience, it was as if the jury was deliberating silently.
.
Meanwhile, Index managed to complete the magic circle. Actually, it was not just one circle, but a detailed interconnected system of circles, arcs lines and symbols; for the ritual with four peripheral circles for the magicians around the main circle and another circle in the center for the central purpose of the ceremony. At the moment, she was drawing instructions in the form of a simple magic circle on three napkins with a pen.
In the meantime, Sequenzia decided that things were taking too strange a direction for her and decided to back away from the action. It was a tactical retreat, climbing over the fence to disappear into the crowd of spectators. However, Index noticed that attempt to flee and after a short meeting with Estelle and her companion Hasami; The given golem rushed out and secured the fleeing contestant, ignoring the fact that she was already in the crowd. Of course, she tried to defend herself, but the initial shock of golem landing directly behind her and the subsequent super awkward position of the princess in her arms took away the strength for effective resistance. She couldn't even use her revolver or call for backup because of the crowd. She showed her great displeasure with snide comments bordering on swearing at the brunette. But the servant didn't mind as she return to the group. She made sure she didn't accidentally step on the chalk drawing and jump straight into the empty circle in the middle with it.
Meanwhile, Index convinced Stiyl, Kanzaki, and Estelle to stand in the outer circles.
.
Of course, the Necromancer, catching a second dose of panic, tried to talk her out of it once more. "I- I seriously don't think we should do this Index-sama. I have no idea what the outcome will be, but it's getting too close..."
But the nun interrupted her. "In this unique state, there is no taboo! I'm aware that he unintentionally interfered with the spell and inadvertently created what she is now. I won't tell you more for security reasons, but from my perspective she's in a stuck state, so we're really just fixing her state. If anyone has questions about eligibility, just refer to that boy with the red eyes, which is actually…"
"I have nothing to say about it?!!" Protested that black-haired girl in a High-Tech uniform, still held captive in servant arms. "Release me immediately!"
.
"The miracle of the eighty-eighth..." Index looked at her deeply, which together with that statement silenced Shutaura. "I'll finally let that miracle to finish what it started and release what's held in the gap between the wish and the sacrifice. You've both been through enough to deserve whats has been promised. Both times, it was a miracle and it must finally be finished. So no more excuses." After Shutaura looked down, nun-in-training turned to Mikoto.
"I suppose you want me to enter that fourth circle." The moment she finished, both of her sisters pounced on her upper limbs. They pressed firmly on her and each of them grabbed one of her hands with both hands in pincers, which brought her into a grip from which there was no escape.
"Misaka as Misaka must protest against this plan. Even though she does not fully understand the terminology and workings of these poetic abilities under the title of magic, observing these phenomena resulted in one adamant knowledge. Nothing good will happen to an Esper who uses magic."
"True. That's why Onee-sama must avoid entering that circle. Misaka declares with a fighting expression on her face, ready to fight for her older sister. At the same time, torn from her own pounding heart, she presses her older sister's hand to her chest."
.
"A fighting expression? You face is still the same as before." Index didn't understand. "And no. I don't intend to let the short hair use the spell, she wouldn't be able to handle it anyway." She throw her hands to the side in empty hands gesture as if she considered Railgun a lost cause. "It's different. Since I'm not allowed to use magic in normal means, I need her lightning as an initiator. Since I'll be the one to work with that energy, you don't have to worry about incompatible counter reaction. I just want you to threw it at me. Even from where you're standing."
"Don't be stupid!!" Mikoto get angry. "Two hundred million volts, it can not only seriously injure you, but much more!!"
.
"I still see that you only look at the world from a limited angle of the teaching you got, short haired. So I'll give you a little test. Send me the discharge that had your thousand volts."
"It probably hasn't even happened to me, that someone directly asked me to zap them." She let out a disgruntled spark from her temple, scowling at the tiny robe figure who just smiled with boundless faith on her face. "Long haired, as you wish. Then don't you dare to cry, that it hurt. Here's your ridiculous order, and something to top it off as the house!" She pointed a straight index finger at platinum girl as if it was a drawn gun. In the same idea, a concentrated bunch of electrical discharge appeared on the tip of the finger, which rushed straight to its target like a fired projectile.
.
But the target smiled and she uttered an express incantation. "B.W.W.B.G.M." ["Blowing wind of humming wrath, became a blessing to God's mill of the believer."]
Mikoto couldn't believe her eyes when: Just before hitting the target, the electric bullet twisted into an arc and began to circle around the figure in a circular path before weakening enough to dissipate as a discharge. The small figure in white spoke only a few letters, but Misaka had the feeling somewhere inside that they were whole words, a line that she hardly comprehend that existed in first place.
.
"Hmmm. I see. Contrasted with the magical equivalent, so outside of direct contact with the source, the effect loses coherence. That's why an adjustment was needed to even reach the desired value. Given the distance..." She measured the distance between the brunette and the circle. "Five hundred twenty to seven hundred thirty... I'm going to need about six hundred million of those volts of yours."
Of course, Mikoto didn't like the way she says '...those volts of yours', nor that nun wants more from her at all after this little show she performed. But before brown-girl could curse the platinum-silver girl, Sequenzia was already yelling. "Don't you dare!! Get me out of here!! I refuse to be cooked by microwaves because your baseless conjecture!!" She took the initiative to try to free herself, and this time the servant already had problems to keep her inside the circle.
"That would be enough!" The hitherto silent red-haired priest sighed. In a gesture as if throwing away a cigarette butt, he let a tongue of fire fly out of his hand, toward the duo. The flame turned and twisted like a snake; for a moment formed a wide circle around the fighting couple in front of him. The high-tech suit girl froze when she finally realized his presence, to remember what he can do and that this is just a candle blaze compared to what he still has up his sleeve. "Until now, I haven't said anything, even though I had the right and duty to do so. My flame means the final-last salvation to those who wall too deep. Whoever, it remains that Index's knowledge in the field of magic exceeds all of us combined. I'm sick of the fact that in order to save someone, I have to wait for something extraordinary bad to happen. If she thinks it's necessary to save those nameless faces that we all ignore while we just stand here and do nothing usefull. I'll help her as much as I can. But keep one thing in mind. If something with six tentacles comes out of it, I'll burn it to ashes without hesitation. And if that happens, I'll take her back to London as soon as this far-fetched assignment is over." He hurriedly looked around the girls present as if he were their trainer. "I'll do my best. You should too, so you don't have to argue that it failed because you were slacking."
.
While the red-haired priest was giving his motivational speech. Index wrestled with Hyouka, trying to push her into the last circle. Of course, the optical glasses lady had a mistrust of that circle comparable to a cat's mistrust of a bath filled with water. Her shoes were as if nailed to the floor, keeping a minimal distance from the drawing. It didn't help that the tiny nun put her full weight into her back. "I- Index, what are you doing? I- I have no idea what the magic you're talking about is? This is too much for me. Even though I managed to resist a ten-meter golem, argue with a bizarre existence, fly on huge bird wings, tried to join a big fight, not once I swung with a three-meter flame sword, because I was only there as an obstacle. So, you can't want this from me! I have a feeling that this will be another questionable experience."
The person behind her spoke back. "Huh? Strange I didn't expect anything like that. Hyouka, excuses are really not your strong point. I don't want you to do anything. I just borrowing you essence. So just stand there and do nothing at all. The others will take care of everything else."
.
"Then, I don't have to be here at all!"
"That's not true. I need your special attribute to pair with Kanzaki. There's no one else here to stand in for you. We've come this far and I've worked really hard to prepare everything. Please help me save Arisa." She sighed, but suddenly, offended, moved away from her a little. "I hope you're not sulking out of jealousy, over Arisa. Who do you think I am? It's almost like you don't know me." Only Index's reprimanding look forced the long-haired brunette's feet to come off the ground and she disbelievingly stepped into the reserved circle.
.
Nun-in-training was about to breathe a sigh of relief that they could finally start when one more unbeliever with an exceptional right hand spoke up. "Hey Index, even if this is probably a stupid question but... Is what you're going to do, really safe? Like… doing it here?"
She sighed, making a lecture expression. "No mage is safe when casting spells. We study magic because we need it to do something. Feedback is a price we have consciously accepted. It is something different from Espers for whom it is an obvious manifestation of talent based on body and efforts they commit to it. And for the most extreme case, I telling you: Stay sit there!" She sighed finally turning to Misaka. "Short haired, when I give you the signal, send me the lightning and don't dare to refuse." Mikoto's answer came in an affirming gesture and so nun turned to the pair in the center of the circle. "Hasami, put Shutaura down on her own two feet, we begin."
.
Index stepped to the edge of the circle formula, putting her hands into a prayer gesture, she started singing another chant. Stiyl and Estelle, standing in their own circles across and facing each other, knelt down, placing one hand on the parquet, to touch the edge of the formula. Closing their eyes, they began to cast spells, mentally processing the formula, which resulted in the chalk drawing on floor representing the magic circle, to seeming to flash. In the third circle, Kanzaki held her katana in a vertical position in her arms so that it wouldn't protrude from the magic circle. A breeze blew around her and suddenly a blue aura flared up around her. No!... It was like a blue flames erupted around her. In fact, it looked like her own manna was so concentrated, that she seemed to be completely engulfed in flames. As if she were a living, mystically eternal torch. Kazakiri in the fourth circle, across the samurai, looked around at the others not knowing what going, how or why is happening, and how to behave. At one point, she stiffened as if she were petrified, or as if she was doll that suddenly shut-dowm; frozen in last used position and expression. Her eyes seemed to lose their luster and her long hair partially rose up, like static electricity or a wind gust, where it partially stiffened like its owner. But they didn't stop there, as if that hairs were the roots of a tree or bush, they grew unrealistically long. Every single hair arched under her to the magic circle. A little above it, they intertwined and with the visage of the real tree roots, they seemed to take root in the parquet.
The nun stopped singing, turned her gaze to the trio of brown-haired girls, and her outstretched hand was a signal for the oldest of them.
.
Mikoto clicked her tongue in displeasure, but even so, she began to build up the tension for the six hundred million volts. Discharges shot out of her in all directions. Her sisters stuck to her only until a certain moment, when they arbitrarily retreated from her to a safe distance. In a cross-legged pose, Mikoto stretched both her arms above her as if she was holding something above her. Some can say that they saw a will-o'-the-wisp [wandering plasma lighting-ball] forming there. Electric sparks and discharges were dancing around her body, increasing in intensity and like living snakes began to climb up around her hands toward the core. Above her palms they formed something like a strange snake dance. Shortly after that, she swung her arms forward with determination. The electric snake something flew forward. A tremendous discharge erupted from her body, which joined the original ball mass, transforming it into a massive snake kite something. [Huge Mystic Serpent/ Serpentine Dragon] This several meter long dragon crackled and charged furiously towards the circle, lighting up the room blue. But Mikoto didn't intend to throw this dangerous cremation on the nun, but over her.
.
That move, didn't throw Index off her rythm, and her gaze was firmly fixed on the discharge. "B.W.W.B.G.M." ["Blowing wind of humming wrath, became a blessing to God's mill of the believer."] That lightning, that multi-meter long roaring and cracking thunder dragon, rippled. It spun around above the circle, starting to circle around above it until it formed a complete circle.
"G.G.C.W.F." ["God's gift of heaven and earth passed through the circle of hard work to the plate of the faithful sheep."] The snake headed for the circles below and in a circular motion soaked into the drawing. The entire magic formula began to glow with a bright white glow.
"C.B.D.T.M." ["In common belief in one dream, at one table, they invited a miracle to sit between them."] The central circle in which the brown-haired girl stood with the black-haired girl became like a portal, which opened and began to shine with a golden color. It was as if they connected to a 'Ley-Line' and turned a faucet to fill an imaginary vessel. [Something like a vein through which the planet's mystical energy flows, which can be refined into manna.]
"P.H.T.G.M." ["That new pair of hands reached for a forgotten thorn, stuck in the gears of a perfect machine."] A wind rose from the magic circle, blowing in all directions. In contrast to the references of the storm around, the center of the ceremony was in perfect windlessness. Almost as if it has turned into a safe place, a chapel or a temple. A golden glow began to climb over the pair. Which caused the high-tech neoprene-suit to panic. Her efforts to find understanding in the servant failed at the first sight of that disinterested face, and she was slowly about to faint out.
"T.O.V.V.O.T.L.M.H.H." ["Where there were two and one, after the veil covering their vision fell, there were one and two again. When the lost met again by holding hands."] Bright light flooded the couple in the center. The magical ceremony reached its climax and the entire circle went out. The wind disappeared and the chalk drawing exploded. In one second there was a magic circle with seven figures, in the second one there was a bright flash, and in the third it was just an opaque chalk cloud.
.
There was a tense silence for a moment while the white cloud slowly dissipated.
.
Subsequently, a crash was heard as if some person fell to the parquet floor like a bag. This startled the other person next to it and it tripped over the another one. Those two together fell to the floor with a 'Kia' shriek. Immediately, a gust of wind blew in from where Kanzaki stands. She dispersed the cloud with a single wave of her katana in sheet.
The audience got a look that revealed that the optical glasses, long-haired girl had returned to her previous (normal) form and hobbled off into unconsciousness. Where the couple stood before, there was now a ball, or rather a heap, of three girls. Where at the bottom was a servant in Anti-Skill uniform. In the middle, the commander of the Black crow unit in a High-Tech uniform. And what overwhelmed them was the well-known Idol in her costume, holding hands with a black-haired girl. All three started having reminders in an attempt to find out what happened and their uncomfortable position.
Index dropped to her knees tiredly, uttering a reminder of how hungry she was. Stiyl and Kanzaki let out a sigh, somewhat half shocked at the absence of something bizarre with six tentacles not belonging to this world.
.
Even Mikoto was shocked by what she just saw. From the beginning of the performance under the guidance of Index, she strained all her senses, like her radar and electromagnetic waves vision. So, even though the opaque chalk cloud rose, she could still relatively see what happened inside it. The arrival of the third character was not a trick with a falling door, a long jump, or teleportation. Not even the mysterious 'log on' or 'spawn'. [For example, connecting to an RPG online game.] This was as if the third person had emerged directly from the brunette. However, what shocked Misaka the most was not the bizarreness of the performance, but the person who showed up. A drop of cold sweat ran down her face as she tried to carefully say her name. ("Meigo Arisa???...")
.

[Notes/explanations (in case someone doesn't know something):]
Okay, this episode takes more time, and health that it should. But I hope that there is no inconsistency.
Electron (NV) Googles, as the name 'night vision' states these glasses enable night vision. In addition, they allow the user to display various electric and magnetic flows. Its an attempt to copy Railgun's radar.
Saint: Sometimes referred to as 'children of God', this is the name given to a unique category of mages, of which there are less than twenty in the world. Like Gemstone, they are already born with this quality and actually seem to be a link to more powerful beings. Saints represent the influence of these powerful beings on the world even without their actual presence. Saints have an enormous reserve of their own manna, and their status allows them to summon a state where they can relatively safely transcend human limitations and even use angel-class spells. Together with all the knowledge and conveniences, they can be compared to the atomic weapons of the magic side. However, despite all this, they cannot use ordinary magic, and if they stay behind the line of humans for too long they can go mad and metaphorically become demons of destruction and cataclysm.
A magical name Kanzaki Kaori 's Salvare000 presents a wish: "Salvation for those who cannot be saved." From this come her effort not to end any life. Kanzaki has knowledge of both Western and Eastern modern magical styles. As a saint, she can powerfully sanctify not only water but also food, which can be used to heal people simply by eating it. She doing that especially to her sweet dango dumplings.
Stiyl's magical name is Fortis931 represents: "I can prove why my name is the strongest here."
Modern Western magic, the principle behind Aleister Crowley, and actually combines reference, space, form and meaning. This simpler style opened the door for even less gifted magicians to achieve more complex ceremonies in an efficient enough way, which opened the door to higher magic for small groups and individuals. In this system, the user's clothing, gestures, demeanor, or the surroundings can be used as a reference and for better utilization of manna for a more complex spell. Of course, this system took off so well that the mainstream churches could no longer sweep it under the carpet. From the trio of leaders of the legendary golden cabal; The second translate a lot of magical text into common tongue, opening knowledge of magic to masses. And the third one brought to the game the knowledge of available (supplements) for magic usage, necessary manna muscle buildup and manna replenish.
Incantation, as a simple form of magic, simply works on the principle of verbal reference, processing of thought, image and application to the situation. After that, it is enough to use your own life energy, transform it into manna and push it all into reality. And boom, magic. Since the incantation uses the word as a medium, it does not need BOOST in the form of tools, clothing, etc. for better processing of manna. However, the application of modern Western magic has made it possible to express incantations and refer to entire expressions in separate letters. This is how the incantation was shortened from minutes to seconds. It depends on whether the mage is experienced enough to hold the idea, the thought, and the manna together.
Hyouka's 'Counter Stop' ability only works on the threshold between reality and below reality (behind the mirror), referred to as the 'Imaginary District of Five Element', which is something like a true copy of the planet. Actually, something like a data reserve renewed every 24 hours, according to the exact current state of the planet, regardless of what happens in the sub-reality. Only without people and animals. In this state, as long as she looks at that person, she may unknowingly swap that person; the current alternative of that person; for another alternative version of that person. Conveniently as if she was mistaken for a matching person from an alternate reality. But no one will even notice it. Including the modified person. Abuse of this ability by a third party temporarily changed her status to an angel to cast a certain city-wide counter-spell.
