Chapter 9: Tears of two Races (chapter 9)

The Male Bartender looked them over. His gaze scanning them before looking back to S'lani. As she looked him over, His long golden-brown hair was pulled behind his head. Held there neatly as a beard of matching color rested cleanly on his face coming to a point while some of the hair covered his upper lip. Giving his face a strong look. Yellowish-brown skin though the thing that caught her attain was his eyes.

One was red while the outer layer was white and the other was light green. His sleeveless shirt allowed her to see what looked like claw marks on his arms. All in all, he was a good-looking man by her earth standards. As she left to look around while those two spoke she could see a fight happening in the middle of a crowd. The fighters were one wood elf and.... she looked again and anger was beginning to swell inside of her.

It was a blood Nord, though she had no idea how she could tell however something inside of her could. That tall bastard had the upper hand in the fight from what she could tell. Though anyone could from the blooded face of the wood elf. but they gave as good as they got. The Nord had a swollen eye and a cracked lip. As the door to the tavern opened ruffly two people in matching armor steel plated armor with red cloth sticking out of some parts.

"By the Jarl, you better stop fighting else I'll have you both dragged to the dungeon." Spoke the man in a thick Nordic accent while they pushed their way through the crowd. Both guards moving to separate the fighters. a small hand pulling on her. as she turned to face them. it was the kid tell her that S'lani was looking for her.

As they made their way back she asked what the kid's name was. since she didn't know what to call them. "Arnovia" she replied as they moved towards the bar again. One thought when through her mind and it was that this kid was acting too old for their age.

Once they got there S'lani introduced them to his old friend. "This one is called Gersg and they have agreed to give you both a chance to work for them' he said as he grabbed a backpack they were handed. Looking over at us as we looked back at them confused. "This one will be taking his leave alone; however, this one is not ungrateful and has asked him to look after you both" And with that the gave their goodbyes before ether or them could say anything.

She watched as they left dumbfounded before looking over to her only companion left. Only to see them already talking with the bartender that called over some lad before pointing to them which Arnovia when too.

"So, any Skills be it fighting or other," he said as he pulled one side of his hair from the side back behind his pointy ear. There were so many things that just happen that she was struggling to understand. His eyes locking on hers.

"I -uh I know kind of know how to use a spear." She said as she sat down. Before asking what would happen if she just left.

He chuckled as he explained that she would either die, be captured by bandits, or end up died by the road or in some beast's stomach. As for her spear skills, he would have that checked by one of his hands and teach her other thing if needed.

" Why would you help us," She asked still not understanding. " S'lani saved my life," he said pointing to his scars on his upper shoulders" pulled me right out of the Claws of extinction of a harpy, though he did say you saved his so in a way I'm paying him back through you." leaning in as he spoke. " note to self don't believe any speak of potions that will break curses," he said sheepishly.

Nodding though not so much understand what he meant before asking what would happen if she stayed. He explained that he would teach her the basics of spear work and maybe magic if she had an affinity for it. Though she would have to work here in the morning since even if she did save his friend, nothing was truly free. Which she could understand. it would be strange to offer everything for free just because someone helped you or your friends.

Deciding it would be wiser to get help and have a place to stay until whatever was going to happen this year to pass. After speaking with the bartender which turned out to be the owner for a few hours. he offered her a room to sleep in. it was small, and he had to share it with Arnovia who was already asleep. As she laid down to rest on a bed of furs, two tears fell from her face as she closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
