Elden Ring:After the end

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Nox Sisters.

The warm golden light enters through the large windows, this light is not natural, but the one formed by the interaction of the golden leaves of the Golden Tree and the light coming from the sun.

This soft light descends on a large bed made with golden blankets, it has on it a cover of gray silks and in its embrace rests a young man. Leaving aside the bed, the whole room seems to be completely empty, though it doesn't feel cold or uninhabited... Almost as if something higher will rest in it and its energy will easily fill the whole space.

*knock* *knock* *knock* *knock*.

A soft but steady knock breaks the tranquility of the room, but whoever rests inside doesn't seem to mind and this gives way to another batch of knocks.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

"He won't wake up... Shall we go in?"

"According to protocol that action is correct."

Murmurs are heard from the other side of the heavy wooden door, then there is a momentary silence and it is opened sideways by two pairs of gloved hands. Who enter are two ladies dressed alike, of similar height, expression and even similar aura... They were the sister puppets of the Nox race.

Advancing delicately through the well-lit room, the Nox sisters in a few seconds arrive in front of the bed, then one moves to the right and the other to the left, and then shakes the young man from the sides.

...Aldrich pov...

In the midst of my light dreams, I feel two pairs of cold hands grab the right and left sides of my body and in a few moments I feel myself being shaken to the sides.

"My lord. My lord..."

"Up. Up."

While the first voice is incredibly warm despite the coldness of his hands, the second one lives up to his icy body and his voice stands out for the lack of emotion or feeling in his words.

After analyzing the situation, I open one of my eyes and slowly look sideways. Who is on my right is a Nox Swordswoman and on my left side a Night Maiden, both are dressed in their usual gear and even carry their flowing weapons.

"If you have risen from your sleep, we would be grateful if you would get out of bed."

"Sister! I hope you won't be offended, my lord. It's just that she's still not used to it so much... Freedom."

With Swordswoman Nox's words, the remnants of drowsiness leave me and without leaving the bed, I ask her the question that has been haunting my mind.

"I've been wondering. But how is it possible for them to have so much... Freedom to act?"

"Let me explain. In the Midlands the spiritual and physical planes have been shaken by the destruction of Elden's Circle, causing there to be areas where these two planes can easily interact."

Signaling with my head to confirm that I'm listening, I get out of bed and Swordswoman Nox quickly brings in some light clothes that stand out because of their golden color.

Truth be told I'm already getting tired of so much gold, but what can you do, they're literally the golden lineage and the whole thing. New memories... Although they don't seem to be important and can only be considered backstory.

"Continuing with my explanation. It is in those places that you normally summon us, as less mana is spent there to form a bridge between the physical and spiritual plane."

"Umm... It's unnecessary to comb my hair, I'm pretty sure it's not messy."

Letting out an "Umm" of affirmation towards the Night Maid, I turn my face towards the Swordswoman who has undressed me, changed me, groomed me and is now touching my hair. She simply ignores my words, then continues to work on my hair and as a last resort I let her do whatever she wants.

Abnormally I did not feel bad about this violation of my personal space, I am totally satisfied with this physical form and have no shame in showing it.

"Currently all of us can stay out of you thanks to your large amount of mana, also because of your connection to the Golden Tree and another great help is the current situation between the different planes."

"Of the first two I can get an idea - but what does the third one mean?"

"The physical plane had been largely encroached upon by the spiritual, making it so that despite the repair of Elden's Circle, these two cannot be easily separated and the easiest solution was for them to coexist"

If the thing boils down to a few words, it's that now it doesn't matter the location, as long as you have the ability you can summon spirits. The physical and spiritual planes are no longer separate, though perhaps it's just a small-scale merger... Who am I kidding, this looks like another problem.

"If you have finished talking, I must remind you my lord that Al, Boc and Lansseax, are waiting for you in the dining room."

"Take me there."

"On my back or under my arm?"

It was a strange answer the Swordswoman gave me... No, it was extremely strange and my eyes seemed to convey my bewilderment quite well, as for a few seconds her pale skin turned slightly red.

"I'm sorry, my sister will guide you!"

"Sto!"

The words don't make it out of my mouth that the Swordswoman had already left the room, it was strange, the Nox are a race that excels at being great researchers and inventors... Yes, rational people.

"I ask that you excuse her, it wasn't easy for her the time she spent as a puppet for that mage. She just wants to enjoy her emotions now that she can and I hope she understands that."

"Seluvis, a foul wizard throughout her history."

"Yes he is. Now follow me, I'll lead you to the dining room."

...Some time later…

The halls of Leyndell's palace were certainly opulent, but they are completely empty, except for a few paintings and the occasional gold-colored decoration. Strange things continue, as there is not a servant or person in sight, making the corridors look devoid of life.

"We have arrived. Whenever you want to enter, I'm going to enter from the other side."

"Thank you. Are they really fighting already?"

Thanking the Night Maiden, I extend my hands towards the double door and without even opening it I am assaulted by the verbal contest between Al vs Lansseax. The two are like oil and water, but it's not that they don't get along, it's just that one is a diehard fan of my person and the other... Well, maybe he respects my strength?

Denying my thoughts, I open the door from side to side and scan the entire room with my eyes. Just like everything previously seen in the palace, the dining room is partially empty, with the exception of a long dark wooden table, a golden chandelier hanging from the ceiling and some plants that give it a more natural feel.

"Welcome my lord."

Lifting his body from the seat immediately, Al, who is the mimetic tear, bows in my direction.

"Aldrich, good morning."

"How dare you use his name..."

Nodding to Lansseax who looks rather unconcerned, I signal Al to calm down and sit back down.

"Now that we've calmed down, we can get down to business."

"I want to eat first!"

"Damn lizard..."

I easily got choked up at his objective words, since what Lansseax just mentioned is why we're here. Knowing that, I looked towards Al and he simply snapped his fingers.

"Here we are." x2

Entering from the other side of the dining room are the Nox sisters, both the one who fled out of embarrassment and also the one who has served as my guide to get here.

On each of their gloved hands they carry a tray, these are filled with rather western delicacies. With a quick glance I could recognize one thing or another, be it breads, biscuits, jams, cakes and more.

"Thank you ladies."

"It doesn't matter, we do it because we like it here, Al."

"Bullshit, I do it because you make me sister".

Watching this interaction between the two of them which is quite common, he gestured with his eyes for them to take a seat and they readily accepted it.

"Now if we can get started?

"No objection from me."

Being speechless before Lansseax who talks while eating, I still remember she was a priestess for a while, where did her manners go?.

"Right, let's get started on the plan of action to take back the dominula barns."
