Chapter 40: Chapter 41 – Escape
The chamber was silent. The boy stood frozen, his dark blue tail tucked low, ears twitching as he stared at Kael and Selene.
His eyes—once filled with violence and bloodlust—now held something else. Fear.
Kael knew that look. It wasn't fear of death. It was fear of people. Of what they might do next.
Selene whispered, "He's terrified…"
Kael knelt, lowering his blade. "We're leaving. You're coming with us."
The boy flinched but didn't move.
Kael sighed. "We don't have time for this."
Then—
BOOM!
The ground shook violently as an explosion tore through the facility, sending dust and debris raining from the ceiling.
Selene whipped around. "What the hell?!"
Kael's gaze darkened. That bastard… He planned this.
The scientist was erasing all evidence.

Kael glanced at the boy. He was the reason.
They had taken their weapon.
"We'll head west," Kael decided. "Beyond the border. A new kingdom.Selene exhaled. "And the boy?"
Kael met the boy's uncertain, golden eyes.
"You're coming with us."
For the first time, the boy didn't flinch.
He just nodded.
Kael asked "what your name"
After some time
Boy said "I don't remember, they always call me Subject 17"
"I see then from now on your name will be rei"
After hearing that he stared to cry
