The Veil is an invisible barrier between the mortal world and the Abyss of Eternity, where raw energy exists in its purest form. Those who can tap into the Veil and harness its energy are called Veilborn, warriors and mystics capable of bending the elements, manipulating reality, and wielding abilities that defy human comprehension.
But the Veil does not grant power freely. It demands will, sacrifice, and control. Those who fail to master it are consumed by its chaos, their souls twisted into mindless abominations.
The Six Flames of the Veil
Throughout history, warriors of Varethos have wielded various powers, categorized into the Six Flames of the Veil—the fundamental forces of existence. Every warrior's abilities are tied to one or more of these Flames, determining their fighting style, techniques, and strengths.
1. The Crimson Flame – The Flame of Destruction
Masters of the Crimson Flame wield devastating, offensive power.
Their abilities manifest in explosions, fire, and sheer force.
Their willpower fuels their strength—the stronger their conviction, the deadlier their flames.
Example: Lord Obsidian, whose Crimson Flame devours anything in its path.
2. The Azure Flame – The Flame of Will
The rarest and most mysterious Flame, said to be alive.
Users of the Azure Flame do not simply control power—they become power itself.
It is said that those who wield this Flame can defy fate itself.
Example: Riven Kaelstrade, the last known wielder of the Azure Flame.
3. The Obsidian Flame – The Flame of Shadows
Grants mastery over darkness, illusions, and corruption.
Users can dissolve into shadows, steal memories, or twist minds.
Many fallen warriors succumb to this Flame's hunger for souls.
Example: The mysterious assassin known as Nyx the Hollow.
4. The Silver Flame – The Flame of Restoration
A rare Flame that grants healing, life-force manipulation, and regeneration.
Those blessed with this Flame are both revered and hunted for their power.
Example: Akari Renji, whose Silver Flame hides a terrible curse.
5. The Verdant Flame – The Flame of Creation
Controls nature, energy, and matter itself.
Users can reshape the battlefield, create weapons from nothing, and manipulate growth.
Example: General Kael Dravon, who wields the Verdant Flame to forge weapons mid-battle.
6. The Void Flame – The Forbidden Flame
The most dangerous of all, granting the power to erase existence itself.
Legends say only one warrior ever wielded this Flame, and he was erased from history.
Those who seek this Flame are said to vanish without a trace.
The Eclipse War & The Prophecy of the Flames
A thousand years ago, the Eclipse War nearly shattered the world when a warlord attempted to unify all six Flames under his control. But before he could succeed, he was struck down, his name erased from history.
Now, whispers of a new prophecy spread across Varethos.
"When the Azure Flame burns once more, the Eclipse shall return, and the world will be reforged in fire and ruin."
