Echoes of Hollywood

Chapter 427: Chapter 427: New Home

After listening to Margot Robbie's words, Gal Gadot did not react at all. It was clear that Margot Robbie might have seen the script through her agent or from David Robbie, and she had become interested in the most significant female role in it, even possibly the lead role of Sosanna.

She glanced at Margot Robbie. In the script, Sosanna was described as a blonde Jewish girl who showed no apparent Jewish traits. Although Margot Robbie's facial features were quite sharp, it wasn't a complete mismatch.

After all, many Jews have mixed over the years, making it impossible to discern their heritage from appearance alone.

"Gal, I heard from David," Margot Robbie continued, "that you are producing for this film crew?"

The power of a producer is significant. If her close friend could be the producer of the 'Inglourious Basterds' crew, the chances of her securing the role were very high.

"Not a producer." Gal Gadot shook her head, "I'm an assistant producer, an internship position."

She smiled, "I still need to learn and can't take on significant responsibilities in the crew yet."

"Oh…" Margot Robbie nodded.

Regardless, this was her friend, and Gal Gadot could tell that Margot Robbie's intentions were simple—just seeking a little help without any messy thoughts.

After thinking for a moment, she said, "Maggie, I'll talk to Murphy. Given your credentials and your longstanding relationship with Murphy, there shouldn't be any problem with you auditioning."

Even if she didn't speak up, if David Robbie made the request, Murphy, knowing his personality, would likely not refuse.

"Really?" Margot Robbie grabbed Gal Gadot's hand, "Thank you, Gal."

"Don't thank me yet." With Gal Gadot's intelligence, she naturally stated upfront, "I can only recommend you for the audition. Securing the role will be up to you."

Margot Robbie wasn't foolish, she quickly nodded, "Yes, I will do my best."

It seemed like a determination as she firmly grasped Gal Gadot's hand once more.

Gal Gadot smiled and shook her head, saying nothing further.

Even for a close friend, there was a limit to the help she could offer. She could only go this far, and no further; the real decision-makers for such a crucial role were Murphy and not others.

From the beginning, Gal Gadot knew that even with deep affection like hers and Murphy's, there were boundaries that shouldn't be crossed.

Relationships needed careful management, not to be used for trading favors.

Moreover, with such a naïve example and lesson before her, how could she possibly make a foolish mistake?

She would help Margot Robbie, but only to secure an audition, not a major role.

Releasing Gal Gadot's hand, Margot Robbie suddenly sighed inwardly; her friend appeared happy, but in reality, she was merely a slave to love.

"Gal has given up too much for this relationship," she muttered to herself, "and has lost herself."

Margot Robbie had known Murphy longer than Gal Gadot had due to age differences; at that time, she didn't have a strong impression of him, instead, she was closer to his first girlfriend. Although as time passed, she gradually lost contact with that British girl, her memories still sometimes linked Murphy-Stanton to an irresponsible image.

Having moved to Los Angeles in recent years and entering Hollywood, she became exceptionally close to Gal Gadot, becoming best friends and often joining the parties hosted by her and Murphy-Stanton, giving her the chance to observe and understand them closely.

Gal Gadot was mature, beautiful, elegant, stylish… all positive adjectives seemed to describe her.

This was her friend and someone she admired and aspired to be like.

But there was one thing Margot Robbie couldn't reconcile, which she saw as Gal Gadot's greatest flaw.

Gal Gadot valued love too much, cared too much about Murphy-Stanton's feelings, and often neglected herself in her efforts to cater to him.

Of course, Murphy-Stanton treated Gal Gadot well, but his contributions seemed disproportionate to what Gal Gadot offered.

Margot Robbie couldn't help but feel indignant on her friend's behalf.

Watching Gal Gadot pick up her cup to drink, Margot Robbie suddenly thought that Gal looked even thinner than before, and perhaps more worn out…

She had indeed given too much.

A wave of sympathy surged in Margot Robbie's youthful heart.

"Gal, if you have time," she suddenly suggested, "how about we go on a round-the-world trip together?"

Hearing this proposal, Gal Gadot was also interested, "A round-the-world trip? I've had this idea before, but…"

After a brief thought, she said, "We'll need to find the right time."

Margot Robbie laughed happily, "There's always time if you make it."

Gal Gadot

nodded lightly, a global journey was indeed a good idea, maybe they could invite Murphy along? She wondered if he could find the time as he was obviously getting busier.

The two girls enthusiastically discussed the idea, but their thoughts had already diverged; Margot Robbie planned a trip for just the two of them, while Gal Gadot thought more about how to include Murphy.

Their friendship was undoubtedly based on many common interests, but in this respect, Gal Gadot and Margot Robbie had significant differences.

However, these differences wouldn't affect their relationship, and the lunch ended in a very cheerful mood.

"Are you sure you won't join me for a stroll down Rodeo Drive?"

Stepping out of the restaurant, Margot Robbie seemed reluctant to part with Gal Gadot, holding her hand and saying, "It's been a long time since we went to a fashion store together."

"Next time," Gal Gadot firmly declined, "Murphy took over the recently renovated 'Fleur de Lis' last week and made some final adjustments. We agreed to check it out together this afternoon."

"Alright then." Margot Robbie was the first to leave.

Gal Gadot then drove her Chevrolet into Beverly Hills, heading towards Holmby Hills.

On the south slope of Holmby Hills, Murphy arrived at the newly renovated estate before Gal Gadot, parking his car along the straight road and standing in front of the French wrought iron gate looking inwards. The view ended at the newly spruced-up white mansion, the plants in the front hall meticulously maintained, bursting with life, and the original asphalt road leading to the mansion had been replaced with smooth bluestone slabs, further complementing the lush greenery of the front garden.

This massive, luxurious estate had undergone significant changes, the most notable being the removal of the 'Fleur de Lis' sign above the iron gate, replaced by a name personally chosen by Murphy.

Waiting less than ten minutes, a Chevrolet sedan approached slowly, stopping next to Murphy's SUV. Gal Gadot stepped out of the car.

"Hi, dear," Murphy waved at her.

Gal Gadot walked over and linked arms with Murphy, as usual, her eyes never straying from him and not noticing the changes at the estate's entrance.

"Why are you standing here?" she asked curiously, pulling Murphy's hand as they walked towards the estate gate, "Show me what you've changed."

After purchasing 'Fleur de Lis,' the reorganization and renovation had been her responsibility, with Murphy only making a few final tweaks to her plans.

Murphy gently pulled Gal Gadot to a stop, saying, "The inside hasn't changed."

Gal Gadot was sharp, "So it's the outside then?"

Looking towards the gate, she only needed a glance to notice that the 'Fleur de Lis' sign on the French wrought iron gate had disappeared, replaced by a brand-new name.

Staring at the letters, Gal Gadot was stunned; she had not expected Murphy to name their new home in such a manner.

She bit her lip gently, turning to look at Murphy, her excitement almost entirely evident on her face.

"My dear…"

Gal Gadot didn't know how to express her emotions at that moment and simply stepped forward, wrapping Murphy in a deep embrace.

"I…" she tried to find the right words, but Murphy gently patted her back, "This is our home, and you are the lady of the house."

Gal Gadot nodded vigorously, her heart filled with profound sweetness. She had never given without receiving; every effort she made was reciprocated by Murphy.

Clasping Murphy's hand tightly, leaning against his tall frame, Gal Gadot looked again at the large letters on the iron arch—Wave Manor!

Her boyfriend had named this mansion after himself, named their new home, named their future...

Gal Gadot turned to look at Murphy again, realizing he cared more about their relationship than she had thought. She knew Murphy didn't understand Hebrew and had never mentioned it before, yet he clearly knew the meaning of her Hebrew name.

"I plan to move here before Christmas," Murphy shared his plans, "What do you think?"

"Sure!" Gal Gadot nodded lightly, adding, "Our lease on the other house is almost up too."

Before Christmas, Murphy moved from the Santa Monica Valley area to Beverly Hills, and through Grace's connections at CAA, arranged for the estate to be staffed appropriately, with CAA providing comprehensive services.

After moving, Murphy devoted himself entirely to preparing for 'Inglourious Basterds'.
