"What the—?!"
"How are they so well-prepared?!" Valletta exclaimed, observing the battle unfold before her.
No one answered her question, further fueling her frustration.
She charged forward, grabbing a fallen dark faction member and hurling the body towards Mika's group, followed by a barrage of corpses.
The projectiles disrupted the incoming arrows, creating an opening for the dark faction members to advance. They quickly closed the distance.
"Prepare yourselves!" Mika shouted.
"They've broken through the arrow barrage! They're almost here!"
The front line tightened their grip on their shields, bracing for impact.
"Gods, please protect my family!" a dark faction member cried out, slamming into the shield wall and detonating his bomb.
BOOM!
The explosion rocked the corridor, sending the shield-bearers stumbling backward, their hands stinging.
"Mellie, magical support!"
"Right!" Although Mellie's magic was already active, she focused its effects, accelerating their healing.
"We held!" the shield-bearers shouted excitedly, feeling their wounds rapidly closing.
"Is this Shared Burden?" Lyra, who had just fired a volley of arrows from the back lines, muttered, clenching and unclenching her hands.
Although she hadn't been directly hit by the explosion, she could feel the impact, a stinging sensation in her hands and a dull ache throughout her body.
These were the injuries from the front line, distributed among all those linked by Airmid's skill.
What would have been fatal wounds were now minor injuries, easily managed.
"This is incredible!" she exclaimed.
Just then, more dark faction members reached the shield wall, detonating their bombs one after another.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
The explosions rocked Mika, who stood at the forefront, enduring the brunt of the blasts.
Without Shared Burden and Dia Fratel's dual protection, he would have been severely injured.
But thanks to their combined effects, he remained relatively unharmed.
"Hahaha!" Valletta laughed triumphantly, watching as smoke filled the corridor where Mika and his companions stood.
She couldn't see them, but the sounds of explosions filled her with a sense of victory.
She was certain they couldn't survive such an onslaught.
After all, even she couldn't imagine enduring such an attack.
"What's so funny?" Mika's voice, calm and clear, echoed from within the smoke, sending a chill down her spine.
"You…you're still alive?" she stammered in disbelief.
"Of course. And completely unharmed." Mika, having grown tired of her taunts, handed his shield to a comrade and leaped over the shield wall.
Seeing him emerge from the smoke, several dark faction members rushed towards him, detonating their bombs as they reached him.
But it was futile. While the bombers were obliterated, Mika remained unscathed.
"…" Valletta's gaze was fixed on Mika.
She could see the faint glow surrounding him—the telltale sign of Shared Burden.
All the members of the expedition were linked, sharing the damage.
Moreover, though invisible to most, a thin layer of Nen also protected Mika, further reducing the impact.
He tossed the suicide bombers aside and charged toward Valletta, appearing before her in a flash. He punched, his fist carrying a chilling aura of death.
"Argh!" Valletta's arm snapped as she attempted to block the blow. She stumbled backward, but Mika was relentless, pursuing her relentlessly.
She raised her sword to deflect his next punch, but the impact sent her flying, coughing up blood. Mika's attack had caused severe internal injuries.
"Detonate!" she screamed.
Instantly, the remaining dark faction members surrounding Mika lunged at him, detonating their bombs simultaneously.
"Damn it! So many at once!" Alise and Shakti, still holding their shields against the shield wall, felt a surge of fear. But it was too late.
BOOOOOOM!
A deafening roar echoed through the facility, the force of the explosion sending them sprawling backward.
"Mika!" The adventurers' concern wasn't for themselves, but for Mika, who had been at the center of the blast.
"Calm down," a voice, calm and clear, echoed from the epicenter. "Before worrying about me, perhaps you should check on yourselves. After all, we're sharing the burden, aren't we?"
As the smoke cleared, a figure clad in ornate, full-body armor emerged.
"As you can see, I'm completely unharmed."

"Did she escape?" Mika muttered, looking toward the direction Valletta had been thrown.
Facing the simultaneous detonation of so many bombs, he had activated his Supreme Teigu: God Emperor's Might.
The armor had protected him, minimizing the damage.
However, while he was focused on defending, Valletta had vanished.
"Should I pursue her?" he wondered, then shook his head.
His priority was rejoining the others outside the facility and assisting in the defense against the dark faction's main assault.
Although he had sent messengers to warn the other Familias, they likely hadn't had time to prepare adequate countermeasures.
Compared to capturing Valletta, the lives of the adventurers and citizens outside were far more important.
"I'll let her go for now."
He turned to his companions.
"Mika!" They swarmed him, their hands running over his armor, their voices filled with excitement.
"What is this armor that suddenly appeared?"
"It's my latest creation."
"Deactivate!" The armor dissolved into particles, converging on his finger to form a ring.
Alise and the others were even more impressed by the transformation.
"I'll explain the armor later. Our priority now is to leave this facility and regroup with the others," Mika said, cutting off their questions.
"Indeed. Don't bunch up like this. Form ranks and prepare to withdraw!" Shakti added firmly.
"Yes, Captain!" Though reluctant to leave Mika's side, they obeyed, their gazes still fixed on the ring on his finger.
Ignoring their stares, Mika led them out of the facility. As they emerged, they saw plumes of smoke rising from various parts of Orario. The battle had already begun.
"Mika!"
"Alise!"

Familiar voices called out to them. It was Mellie and Ryuu.
"Mellie, Ryuu, you're back! What's the situation at the other bases?"
"We were fast, but we only managed to save those near the entrances. Those deeper within the corridors suffered heavy losses."
"However, those with Finn and Ottar had minimal casualties."
Mika nodded. The adventurers who had accompanied Finn and Ottar into the deeper levels were all elites, capable of evading the Fire Stone bombs.
The most vulnerable were those left behind to guard the prisoners. It was those adventurers that Mellie and Ryuu had saved.
"It seems our actions were worthwhile."
"Indeed. Both Finn and Ottar asked me to convey their gratitude," Mellie said with a smile.
"I appreciate their thanks."
Mika's smile faded as he turned to the others. "There's no time for celebrations. We need to prepare for battle. With Airmid's skill countering the Fire Stone bombs, we can minimize our casualties and save as many people as possible."
"Yes!" Shakti and the others responded loudly.
"Mellie, Summon Fufu. You'll guide us from the air. If you see anyone in danger, provide immediate support. We'll communicate through telepathy."
"Understood!" Mellie nodded and shouted, "Fufu, Manifest!" The creature appeared, rapidly growing in size, and she leaped onto its back, ascending into the night sky.
"Follow Fufu! Move out!"
"Yes!"
…
"Thump! Thump! Thump!" The rhythmic sound of their footsteps echoed through the streets as they raced toward their next destination.
"Just around the next corner on the right, there are several adventurers battling the dark faction. They don't seem to be suicide bombers. It's a direct confrontation," Mellie reported through their Telepathic Link.
"Understood." Mika quickened his pace.
They reached the designated location.
"Engage!" Shakti shouted, and the stronger adventurers charged forward, swiftly overwhelming the enemy. They quickly discovered the concealed bombs.
"Waiting for the last moment to detonate, huh?" Mika cursed inwardly, then, after a quick assessment, integrated the surviving adventurers into their ranks. Mellie's magic quickly healed their injuries and restored their stamina.
"Thank you for saving us!"
"It was our duty. Now, stay with us." Shakti explained their strategy for countering the bombs.
"In that case, we're happy to join you."
"What happened here? How did things escalate so quickly?" Shakti asked.
"We were warned by the Hermes Familia, but the power of those Fire Stone bombs…it was beyond anything we imagined," one of the rescued adventurers explained, his voice filled with grief.
"We couldn't just abandon the citizens. Those fanatics…they attacked everyone, adventurers and civilians alike, even children."
"If we had fled, who would have protected them?"
"So many died…"
The others' faces hardened with anger as they listened to his account, the horrific scene unfolding in their minds.
