Chapter 33: Chapter 33: A Punch
Comparing Lady Flash to the Flash from the series Zaydas had seen was an understatement. When she started fighting… well, saying she was "very capable" didn't do justice to reality.
In a matter of seconds, Lady Flash sent monsters flying with punches that seemed to weigh tons. Each of her blows launched creatures heavier than a truck, ripping them from the ground and hurling them against buildings and other structures.
Harley was left with the "easy" part of the job: finishing off the monsters already knocked down by Lady Flash. However, despite not suffering any further attacks, she ended up even more exhausted in comparison.
"Ahhhh! Swap, I want to swap partners!!!" Harley shouted, exasperated.
It was the first time Zaydas had seen her so discouraged.
"Hang in there, Harley~" Supergirl, strangely, was enjoying her suffering, speaking cheerfully: "We're almost done, just a little more~"
"Wipe that smirk off your face when saying something like that, Super!" Harley glared at her, pointing a finger: "You… you… bossy, goody-goody, masochistic, netori, sadistic, tramp, and chocolate donut eater!!"
Faced with Harley's outburst, surprisingly, Supergirl just shrugged, opened her hands, and flew off toward another monster.
'Netori and chocolate donut eater?' Zaydas wanted to know why exactly Harley Quinn said those things, but for now, he had matters at hand, like Batgirl on his tail.
"Sigh, life is tough..." Zaydas murmured softly.
"Did you say something?" Batgirl sped up to be beside him.
"I said I'd rather you fly ahead because the view of your perky twin mountains is fantastic." Zaydas replied.
"I'll sue you for harassment!" she retorted.
"Wow, so original." Zaydas laughed in response and asked, "Batgirl, have you ever dated before?"
"None of your business," she replied curtly.
"I see, so that's a no. Well, I can imagine why, despite you being so attractive." Zaydas said with a mischievous smile, looking her up and down.
She gritted her teeth and said aggressively, "Stop staring at me, pervert. Believe it or not, I'll teach you a lesson you'll never forget!"
"In bed?" Zaydas asked, looking surprised.
"Damn it, I'm not talking to you anymore." She flew off, putting some distance between them.
"Hahaha." Seeing her leave, Zaydas started laughing, only to earn a nasty look from Batgirl, who had gained some distance from him but returned a few seconds later.
"Weren't you leaving alone?" Zaydas asked.
"No, it seems like you don't like me following you, so I'm going to do just that." She replied with a cheeky smile.
"..."
'Women~'
It wasn't like he really cared that she was following him. He just felt uncomfortable. But since she decided to do it, he wouldn't blame her if things got a little more difficult.
Speeding up, Zaydas arrived before the "Flame Clown."
As the name suggests, he was a clown who used magic with flames, and when he was performing one of his acts, he caught fire.
This clown is known because, in the circus, he burned everyone there. It was quite tragic.
And somehow, he reached the Second Phase and managed to stay hidden until today.
Zaydas stood before the Flame Clown.
"Well, well, well." The Flame Clown said in an amusing tone: "I see I've caught your attention. I'm so scared I'm trembling, Uhahuaha~~"
Laughing strangely, the flames around the Flame Clown's body intensified, making him appear even larger.
Using ice, Zaydas said little as he started firing a frost blast in the Flame Clown's direction.
"Oh my God, he can use ice, someone hold me~"
As soon as the Flame Clown's words fell, the fire around him intensified even more.
Zaydas's ice melted, and he noticed something strange.
'Is he really from the Second Phase?'
Such firepower didn't resemble anything like the Second Phase monsters he had defeated before.
Batgirl arrived beside him. Sighing, she said, "Just as I imagined, the Flame Clown has reached the Third Phase after being missing for so long."
"So he really became a Third Phase monster..." Zaydas murmured. Turning to her, he said, "I think you should step back; I'm going to get a little serious here."
"A little serious, huh..." Even murmuring, she still did as he asked.
Soon, Zaydas stopped restricting his Demonic Power.
"BOOM!"
The air around became suffocating as the skies trembled under the pressure of his power.
The release of such power was strong enough to create fissures in space, either due to the immense amount of Demonic Power being unleashed or the fact that he was capable of creating such fissures with his power.
"Haha, laugh, keep laughing." Zaydas said as he 'walked' through the air.
The Flame Clown stepped back a few paces.
It had no sanity, but it still feared death.
'I see, this is the difference between dimensional levels.' Zaydas didn't believe it would have the same effect if he unleashed all his demonic power in his own dimension or even Rimuru's.
This suggested that it was exclusively because this was a mid-class dimension with weaker laws, incapable of properly containing his power, which even caused fissures in the space around him.
Precisely because he understood this now, he controlled the leakage of his power.
...
From a distance, Batgirl was trembling. She was the closest to him and felt the pressure of his aura the most.
'He's a true monster...' She began to wonder who could stop him, but then, she panicked at the thought that even Superman didn't seem like he would be able to do so.
It was from that moment that she started thinking: 'He seems interested in Supergirl...'
It was a logical thought. If Supergirl became his anchor, Zaydas wouldn't go insane and possibly destroy a city, a country, or even the world.
That was the level of his power that made her think this way. And, recalling his appearance, it wouldn't exactly be a sacrifice...
...
Unaware of Batgirl's thoughts, Zaydas moved as he burned in flames.
If he used ice, he could defeat the Flame Clown easily now, but what if he used flames too?
One thing he noticed: the Puppeteer controlled the monsters with invisible threads that were practically unbreakable. Zaydas could see them, but when he tried to cut them, his attack passed through as if they were holograms. That said, the Flame Clown had no such threads connected to him.
'Are the two of them in this together? Did the Puppeteer manage to convince him?'
When he tried to probe the Flame Clown's mind, he saw that it wasn't so simple. Even its mind was like a sea of flames, with confused memories and even more confused thoughts, along with a constant desire to burn things.
Zaydas seized the wind around him, bringing it under his control. It started being used as fuel for his flames. More and more wind was absorbed by him until his flames turned blue.
Before, it seemed like he was going to destroy everything with his flames, but now, an irritating scream of wind echoed as the blue flames around him wavered until they stabilized and became tame, almost harmless.
"HAA-HAHA-HHA!" The Flame Clown suddenly laughed, saying, "Weak, weak, it became... Weak~"
Seeing the red flames around the Flame Clown tremble, Zaydas simply smiled at his words. He didn't even need to read the Flame Clown's mind to know that he must have grown confident that he could win upon seeing Zaydas's flames become 'tame.'
Taking steps in the air, Zaydas walked toward the Flame Clown. The first two steps seemed insignificant, but on the third step, a loud sound echoed. On the third step, electricity began to crackle around Zaydas's body; on the fourth, his body, starting from his right foot, became enveloped in electricity. Crackling sounds echoed alongside the howling wind.
The ever-burning flames of the Flame Clown began to appear 'smaller' and more fragile.
The electric crackling around Zaydas intensified, and the blue flames that once resembled a calm lake turned violent, like flames caught in a windstorm, moving ceaselessly while growing stronger. The electric particles surrounding the flames transformed into thick golden lightning bolts. The deafening sounds of thunderclaps filled the air.
"A slightly serious punch." Zaydas murmured, practically vanishing and reappearing in front of the Flame Clown due to his immense speed.
Like a black hole, the flames and lightning surrounding Zaydas's body were drawn into his right arm, making it grow to the size of a giant's. And when he punched forward at the Flame Clown, something insane happened.
"BOOOOM!"
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
The heroines' screams echoed as a deafening explosion shook the battlefield.
And when they looked in the direction of the sound, they were left speechless, unable to describe what they were feeling.
It was never Zaydas's intention to do something like this—he merely wanted to compete in a fire battle against the Flame Clown. But he had an epiphany, and as he progressed, new ideas emerged, and...
Now, after striking the Flame Clown, everything in front of Zaydas had vanished.
The ground had been split open with a width of over 30 meters and at least 50 meters in depth, extending all the way to the barrier's limit, causing it to tremble, almost collapsing.
At the site of the attack, blue flames continued to burn, crackling with electric sounds as if multiple power lines were short-circuiting at once.
"BOOM!"
Thunderous explosions echoed several more times as certain areas of the blue flames flared even more intensely, crackling with even greater electricity.
Batgirl, who had almost gone deaf and had witnessed this horrifying scene, had her hands over her mouth, unable to utter a single word.
