Chapter 213: Chapter [213]
Riser was in his office, the atmosphere calm as he reviewed some documents. The soft light from the fireplace illuminated the room, casting dancing shadows on the walls. Suddenly, a strange sensation overtook him, a familiar vibration in the air. The system was activating.
[SYSTEM ACTIVATED]
[Special Mission Detected]
Riser narrowed his eyes, focusing on the information appearing in his mind.
[Kunou, daughter of Yasaka, has been kidnapped by the Hero Faction. Your mission is to rescue her and secure the alliance between the youkai of Kyoto and the underworld.]
[Objective: Rescue Kunou from the hands of the Hero Faction.]
[Accept mission? Yes or No]
Riser leaned back in his chair, reflecting on the mission. He knew that Kunou's kidnapping was not just a personal matter for Yasaka, but also a political opportunity to strengthen relations between Kyoto and the underworld. Moreover, he recognized the importance of maintaining good relations with Yasaka, a powerful leader among the youkai.
[I accept] - Riser said internally, without hesitation.
[Special Mission Accepted]
[Time to complete the mission: 48 hours]
BZZZT BZZZT
A familiar sound echoed through Riser's office. It was the signal of an incoming communication magic. The hologram of Serafall formed in front of Riser, her expression filled with concern.
"Riser-chan, we need to talk!" Serafall said, her voice urgent. "Kunou, Yasaka's daughter, has been kidnapped by the Hero Faction! They're demanding an impossible ransom, and Yasaka came to me desperate. We need to act immediately!"
"Serafall, I'll handle this personally," Riser replied, his voice firm and authoritative, making it clear that he was prepared to take on the mission.
Serafall sighed in relief, though her eyes still showed concern. "Alright... I'll leave this in your hands, Riser-chan. I trust you. Just please be careful."
With a slight nod, Serafall's hologram disappeared in a soft glow, ending the call.
Riser raised his hand, activating a magic communication circle, and summoned Grayfia, who was at the mansion with Millicas.
A few minutes later, Grayfia arrived at Riser's office.
Knock! Knock!
Riser looked up when he heard the knocks on the door.
"Come in."
Grayfia entered alone, closing the door behind her and approaching Riser.
"You called for me, Riser-sama?"
Riser nodded, his gaze serious. "Grayfia, I have a proposal to make. It's about Millicas' future and also the politics of the underworld." He paused, carefully observing Grayfia's reaction before continuing.
"I'm considering a marriage between Millicas and Kunou, Yasaka's daughter."
"A marriage between Millicas and Kunou... That would certainly strengthen our relations with the youkai. It's an ambitious proposal, Riser-sama. I would like to take some time to talk with Millicas about this and ensure he understands the importance of the decision."
Riser nodded, understanding. "Of course, Grayfia. I'm not asking for an immediate answer. I just wanted you to know about my plans and begin preparing Millicas for the possibility. His safety and future are priorities for me."
Grayfia made a slight bow, her expression maintaining its usual calm. "I understand, Riser-sama. I will speak with Millicas and make sure he's prepared. Thank you for considering sharing this with me."
Riser gave a light smile, satisfied with Grayfia's response. "I trust you, Grayfia. I know you'll do what's best for Millicas and for the underworld."
"Excuse me, Riser-sama. If you'll allow me, I'll take my leave to start preparing Millicas."
"Go ahead, Grayfia."
Riser stood up from his chair, a confident smile appearing on his lips. "Now it's time to rescue a little fox from danger." He chuckled lightly. "And maybe marry a fox MILF," he murmured to himself, thinking of Yasaka.
FWOOOSH!
Riser teleported, reappearing in Kyoto. 'I have to head to Yasaka's residence,' he thought, as he took in his surroundings.
Suddenly, Riser was surrounded by several youkai who attacked him without hesitation, believing he was a threat.
CLANG! CLANG!
The youkai's strikes were blocked by Riser's aura, which remained firm, showing no signs of aggression. He raised his hand and unleashed an intense magical pressure.
The pressure filled the environment, causing the youkai to hesitate for a moment before kneeling, unable to withstand the overwhelming energy emanating from Riser. The youkai trembled, their eyes filled with regret as they realized the true identity of the intruder.
"P-Please forgive us, sir! We didn't know who you were!" one of the youkai muttered, still kneeling.
Yasaka arrived at the scene, her face showing concern as she saw the kneeling youkai and Riser standing. "Stop! They didn't recognize you, Riser-sama. I apologize for their behavior."
Riser looked at Yasaka and slowly released the magical pressure, allowing the youkai to stand. He approached Yasaka, gently lifting her chin so their eyes met.
"I'm the one who should apologize, after all, I came unannounced. But I'm here to help you rescue your daughter."
Yasaka blushed slightly and smiled, relieved. "Thank you, Riser-sama. The help of someone like you is more than I could ask for."
"Let's go. Take me to your residence so we can discuss the plan details," Riser said, releasing Yasaka's chin and stepping back.
Yasaka nodded and began guiding Riser to her residence, while the youkai around them composed themselves, watching with respect the new ally who had arrived to help them.
...
Kunou was in a dark and damp hideout, the environment dimly lit, with only torches lining the stone walls. She was trapped in a metal cage, the bars cold and heavy, and the floor of the cage was covered with straw that offered little comfort. Her heart raced, and her eyes were filled with tears as she hugged herself, trying to shield from the cold and fear she felt. Kunou couldn't stop thinking about her mother, Yasaka. The longing consumed her, and her mother's caring face constantly came to her mind, bringing a sense of emptiness and despair.
'Does my mother know where I am? Is she coming to save me?' Kunou thought, tears streaming down her face as she sobbed quietly. She tried to be strong, but the fear was overwhelming. The dark and hostile place seemed to drain all her hope.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed through the corridor. Kunou lifted her head, her eyes wide with fear as she watched Cao Cao approach the cage. He had a cold, cruel smile on his face, and in his hands, he held a spear that seemed to emanate an oppressive energy. Kunou shrank even further, trying to move as far away from the bars as possible.
"You must be little Kunou," Cao Cao said, his voice dripping with sarcasm and disdain as he approached the cage. "I would say you're lucky, but it seems luck isn't much on your side right now, is it?"
Kunou didn't reply, she just hugged her legs and lowered her head, trying to hide the fear she felt. She knew this man was dangerous, and he wouldn't hesitate to hurt her if necessary.
"Where's your courage now, little fox?" Cao Cao continued, kneeling beside the cage, his piercing eyes watching Kunou's every reaction.
"Your mother must be desperate, but you know... maybe she won't get here in time to save you."
Kunou raised her face, her eyes shining with tears and fear. "My mother... my mother will come to save me. She will find you and get me out of here!" Her voice trembled, but there was a determination in her gaze that couldn't be ignored.
Cao Cao let out a cold laugh. "You really believe that, don't you? Children are so naïve." He stood up, shaking his head with a sneer.
"Your mother is alone, and we are the Hero Faction. No matter how much she tries, she'll never be able to save you."
Kunou felt her heart tighten even more, fear growing in her chest as Cao Cao's words echoed in her mind. The longing for Yasaka was suffocating, and she desperately wished to be in her mother's arms again, to feel her warmth and hear her gentle voice saying everything would be alright.
'Please, mother... come save me...' Kunou thought, closing her eyes as tears streamed down her face.
The fear and loneliness were overwhelming, but still, she clung to the hope that her mother would find her and pull her out of this nightmare.
.....
Grayfia was in the room with Millicas, only the two of them present. She watched her son closely, waiting for his response. Millicas was sitting on the bed, his expression thoughtful and determined. He knew the decision ahead was important, not just for him, but also for his mother's future.
"I won't be like Aunt Rias. I will accept the marriage, and I will make my wife happy," Millicas spoke, his voice firm as he looked into Grayfia's eyes. He remembered Kunou during the Maous' farewell ceremony, her image still vivid in his mind.
Grayfia smiled, her eyes shining with a mix of pride and emotion. She approached Millicas and embraced him in a warm hug.
"Your father would be proud of the Devil you've become."
"Mom, are you going to marry Uncle Riser-sama?" Millicas asked, his voice filled with curiosity as he looked at his mother.
Grayfia didn't respond immediately, her eyes drifting for a moment as silence settled in the room. She didn't have a ready answer for that question, and the situation left her at a loss for words.
