"G-Governor-General. I wasn't expecting to see you-"
"Sahariel, I really am not in the mood from the pleasantries- What is going on with the rest of the people in the headquarters?"
The scientist tensed up a little bit at the irked tone within his boss' voice, but he seemed still deterred from offering a full answer.
"It's… I think it's a reaction to a gift that Hekishoku has sent to us. Rather, it was a message containing the ways to download it but-"
"What kind of 'gift', Sahariel?"
Was he getting snappy? Maybe he really should've taken that cup of coffee earlier that morning.
"It's just a game. Nothing- nothing to be worried about-"
"Where?" He was getting annoyed by the lack of questions, and the researcher told him to find Armaros.
Letting go the glass-wearing man, Azazel now had a proper destination to get some straight answers from.
Walking up to the room of the Anti-Magic Researcher, the Governor-General picked up larger crowds of people wandering the area.
His suspicions increased as he pondered over what Hoitsu could've 'gifted' them all to get this much of a reaction out of the entire building.
Either something incredibly obscene, or something that should really bring Azazel to an embarrassing and furious mood.
The march was a brief one, but one that saw his mind filling up even more with theories and suspicions.
As he turned the corner to the hallway connected to Armaros' room, he took notice of a loud music coming from his destination.
At first he thought it to be some 'modern crap' that many kids nowadays had in their discos, but then he realized that the surprisingly catchy tune was akin to a… videogame.
Confusion swelled at this development, and he found himself stopping by the slightly open door.
He peeked inside, his eyes suddenly looking at the unusual group formed by Armaros, Penemue, Tamiel, and… Shemhazai?
His vice, just like the rest of the people inside, had their attention completely diverted over the imagery within the big TV in front of them and…
Azazel frowned as he found himself mesmerized by the curious gameplay.
The main character, a tiny human with sunglasses white jacket and pants, and a red shirt was roaming within what looked to be a hell-like region.
It looked to be a puzzle, one in which the players had to be careful to use the limited amount of moves to complete each levels.
…
But why was it tied to him if it centered around hell?
Just as he took the first few steps inside, his presence was finally noticed by Armaros, the man being the one handling the lone controller.
"O-Oh, Governor-General," The Japanese Tokusatsu fanatic greeted curtly and nervously, also distractedly from the way his sight would constantly glance back at the large display.
The rest of the group tensed up in a momentary panic, but soon it was Shemhazai to break the confusing standoff.
"Azazel."
"What is going on? Why are you four here and… why is 'that' somehow connected to me?"
Many questions, but just as he finished saying those, his attention returned to the TV as Armaros had concluded the level and a cutscene had ensued.
In there, several young women, white-haired devils from the way their appearance seemed to be, were discussing with the main character… and soon a strange individual appeared in that group of similar-looking people.
She had short, black hair and a pair of soft blue eyes. Wearing what looked to be a half-sleeved white shirt and a pair of white pants and boots with straps on the top, the overall dress reminding him of a military uniform, his attention was mostly directed at the name and title of such a unique character.
Azazel, the Curious Angel.
"What the hell?" He blurted in brief shock- Stomped by what he was looking at.
"Hekishoku-kun offered us the chance to try out this fun game. It has a curious take on Hell and… you- but I wish to point out that-"
"What. Is. That?!" Azazel pressed on with a tenser tone.
"Helltaker," Penemue replied giddily, an amused smile plastered on her face as the woman seemed ready to tease him about this unplanned counterpart of his.
"And I would dare to say that it is a curious template for what we could do with our own games."
"What-"
"Just because it has a female version of you, Governor-General, I think this should really be considered through," Shemhazai interrupted with a calm voice.
"We have been struggling for a long time now to get games that could appeal people to our mindset- but this?
If we fund the creators we might try to sway them to make a continuation to the title. Something that would 'subtly' entice people to support 'angels falling' to become… Waifus."
At this point, Azazel's mind had stopped working. While his logical side would've wholeheartedly agreed with his close friend, the real issue was that he was still stuck on the very detail that someone had developed a female version of himself going to hell for… research?
Sure he was an inquisitive individual. He had done many bizarre choices in his efforts to learn more about the unknown surrounding him but-
The Curious Angel? What's that supposed to mean?!
