DxD: Lost in Time

Chapter 39: Light Crown

"How could you forget about me? I was with you after Yuzūi came into being," she said, her voice tinged with betrayal.

"I don't even remember how I created Yuzūi! He told me I was being suicidal!"

She crossed her arms, her expression unimpressed. "I'm not saying he was wrong. You were doing some pretty reckless things." A pause. "Not to mention, you were desperate to escape that place."

I blinked. "What place?" A sweatdrop formed as unease settled in. Just how bored would I have to be to create a Hollow? Maybe I had been too overconfident before my rebirth.

The eerily white, carbon-copy version of myself shrugged. "None of us remember. Our memories only return as we grow stronger."

I exhaled, shifting my gaze to the obsidian blade in my hand. "I do remember training, a lot. And out of sheer boredom, I tried to recreate an Asauchi. I failed. Over and over." My fingers traced the cold surface of the sword. "And yet, somehow, I succeeded."

Forging a sword wasn't so different from what I did. Reishi became the raw material, Reiryoku the flame, and my control shaped the final product.

But I did follow the traditional method. My Asauchi was pretty standard. It was human-like at first– the basis of a sentient soul, but you could still manifest in a different form. And that's when I made my biggest, most welcome disaster. That's how Yuzūi was forged as my Zanpakutō.

"You did," the woman confirmed, watching me closely. "As you were imprinting your essence into the blade, the second form of an Asauchi, you also simultaneously practiced Quincy arts. How do you think you even formed an Asauchi?"

I stiffened slightly as her words sank in. She rolled her eyes. "Are you just going to stand there, or are you going to acknowledge it?"

...

..

.

"How suicidal was I back then?!"

"You didn't care whether you lived or died, as long as you became the perfect Tribrid, is what you called it back then."

I let out a sharp breath. "I was actively seeking death!" I shouted once more before forcing myself to inhale deeply, trying to steady my thoughts.

Yuzūi, ever the smug one, grinned wide—so wide it looked like his face might split. "Well, on the bright side, you pulled it off without dying. And I was very cooperative. I didn't make much of a fuss."

I shot him a half-lidded glare, my fingers running down my face in exasperation. "I am pretty sure it was only because I mixed both my own energy and Hollow Reiryoku into the Asauchi. I guess you were the result."

Tightening my grip on my Zanpakutō's hilt, I continued, "Now that I think about it, that was the only way to make you more controllable. Even then, I am sure you were unstable. Your power was erratic, surging in unpredictable bursts. And the battlelust that came with it..."

Yuzūi chuckled, shaking his head, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "In the end, though, you fought me. You put me in my place."

"You may think of this Quincy part of me– one I'm still unaware of—as a leash, Yuzūi."

"I am not a leash!" A feminine voice I instinctively ignored said.

"However, I believe my true goal was achieving the ultimate form."

"Care to explain?" The woman's tone held a hint of curiosity.

I nodded. "It reminds me of a protagonist from another world. He had Quincy and Hollow blood, along with his Shinigami powers. When all three were combined, they created the most powerful form I've ever seen."

My gaze shifted to the side, locking onto a pair of glowing red eyes. They bore into me, their message clear. 'Keep stalling, and I'll rip your tongue out.'

I swallowed before continuing. "It's called the Horn of Salvation. A fusion of both your powers, with me as the bridge between them."

"So you're saying if the two of us work together, we can accomplish far more than we ever could alone?"

I smirked. "Exactly, Yuzūi. That was probably my plan all along. I've already accepted you as a part of me, even if you are the most violent part. Honestly, you're just my worst traits on crack."

"Thanks for the compl—wait. What the hell did you just say, you little punk?!" Yuzūi's grin vanished as he processed my words.

I shrugged. "Nothing. Just clarifying things."

"Alright, you two, settle down." She stepped between us, pushing us apart. "I haven't even introduced myself yet. How can I when I can barely get a word in between two crybabies?"

I scratched my head and whistled, pretending to admire the moon as if I hadn't heard her. Yuzūi just harrumphed, turning away with a scowl.

Different reactions, same intent. We were both avoiding her gaze, unwilling to face the guilt.

She sighed in exasperation. Taking a deep breath, her pink lips parted slightly.

"My name is Licht Krone. Your Quincy Aspect."
