Chapter 10: Chapter 9
"Now we shall commence this trial!" Helel announced to the angels gathered in the seventh heaven.
Once again just like how the angels had gathered to witness the birth of Adam and Lilith. The many angels were floating in the sky as they were looking at the centre of the angels.
In the centre were Zadkiel and Lilith who were standing. They were in front of God and the other archangel's, with Adam standing below the podium as he looked at the duo. Azazil, Azariel, Gabriel and the other archangel's were worried for the two of them but the first two glared at Lilith which caused the human to flinch.
Zadkiel noticed it and locked eyes with the two and shook his head telling them to not do it. They were surprised but complied when they saw him and stopped glaring at the woman. Lilith meanwhile is standing with a guilty look on her face as she couldn't bare to look at her big brother. She saw how he had dissuaded the two archangel's and couldn't help but smile slightly.
If only they weren't in this situation because of her.
God was sitting in his throne as he is looking at the two. Raziel is floating beside him as a blank script paper and quill were in his hands. Helel is floating to his right while Michael is floating to his left. Helel has a small smirk on his face as he looked at Zadkiel. Azazel meanwhile narrowed his eyes at Zadkiel before discreetly looking at Helel before he looked at the former.
"Zadkiel, archangel of mercy, you have been charged with the sin of defiling Lilith! One of father's creations! What do you have to say for yourself!?" Helel commanded in a self righteous tone as he looked at the black haired angel.
"I didn't do anything. I was only sleeping with her under the tree." Zadkiel calmly said to him.
Helel just sneered when he heard it while Zadkiel narrowed his eyes. God has an impassive face as he watched the proceedings. Michael has a conflicted expression on his face while Raziel was noting down the proceedings even though the angel believed that Zadkiel wouldn't do something like that.
"Really? Then why in the name of God were the two of you naked. Lilith is understandable since she has only been born but you are more knowledgeable about it aren't you?" Helel said to him with a smile.
Zadkiel narrowed his eyes when he heard it.
"I was really sleeping, just sleeping. How my clothes disappeared is not known to me." Zadkiel said to him.
The angels around were muttering amongst themselves as they heard what he has said.
"Is that so, then I guess we can confirm it, with father's permission." Helel said as he turned to look at God.
God merely nodded to him as he then looked at the two at the centre. Michael was wondering why God isn't saying anything while Helel was happy about it.
"Thank you father. Now I would like to call upon my dear brother Asmodai to help me in the trial." Helel said as he called the angel.
Asmodai floated to his brothers side and stood before God and bowed.
"Brother, I want you to use your magic to learn if Zadkiel had defiled Lilith." Helel said to him.
Asmodai nodded to him and turned to look at the angel human pair. Even though he didn't think that Zadkiel would do it since the two angels have known each other for sometime now. Dare he say that they were quite close to each other. But he had to do what his brother had said as he activated his magic.
Out of all the angels, Asmodai is the one who is most well-versed in the art of learning about the body. The skin, organs and many other things were studied by him which is the reason for his expertise in it. He has however shown much more interest in the female body.
A magic circle appeared in front of his hand and then the same magic circle, albeit bigger appeared below Zadkiel and Lilith. The two looked at the magic circle as it moved up from the ground like a scanner and moved to the top of their heads before vanishing.
Asmodai closed his eyes as his magic circle glowed a bit before he opened his eyes as the magic circle disappeared. He then turned to look at Helel seriously while the angel waited for his analysis.
"I have looked at them and, it would seem that brother Helel is correct." Asmodai said with a pause as he sighed.
Zadkiel's eyes widened when he heard it. The eyes of Azazil and Azariel also widened in disbelief. Adam though didn't seem to be surprised but looked sharply at Helel. The other archangels were shocked while the lesser angels were murmuring amongst themselves.
'My plan has come to fruition.' Helel thought with a smirk before he turned to look at Zadkiel.
"So, brother Asmodai has proven my accusations. So what shall be the punishment for him. The one who has defiled father's creation." Helel said to the gathered angels which caused them to talk amongst themselves.
'As expected of him. He has great charisma.' Zadkiel thought silently as he thought about how to get away from the punishment.
"W-Wait, big brother Zadkiel is saying that he has no knowledge of it so maybe he is telling the truth." Azazil said to Helel as she tried to help him.
"Yes, that is also a possibility. Maybe this is a ploy by someone from outside out pantheon to weaken us." Azariel said to them as she also tried to help him.
Helel looked at the two harshly when he heard it which caused them to flinch. Adam narrowed his eyes as he looked at Helel.
"That might be true but I haven't gotten any sign of that being the case and I'm quite sure that none have managed to breach heaven. But what I am absolutely sure about is that Zadkiel would never do something of this manner. It's simply not in his nature." Azazel said as he voiced his thoughts.
"What he says is true. Zadkiel is not an angel of that nature." Raguel said agreeing with him.
The other archangels and angels were murmuring in silent agreement which caused Helel to grit his teeth in frustration. Zadkiel meanwhile was thankful about it while Lilith was relieved at the fact that so many angels believe in her brother. But then her eyes moved to one Samael as he was eyeing the pair as she became a bit scared.
'But how long will big brother last. Big brother Helel is God's greatest angel, he wouldn't let it slide. Maybe... yes! That will work. I know that big brother wouldn't just let me suffer, even if I was the one responsible for this.' Lilith thought to herself as she made the plan.
"It was me." Lilith said catching the attention of the angels present as the place grew silent.
Helel widened his eyes when he heard her while Zadkiel widened his eyes as well.
"What? What did you just say?" Azazil asked, but her voice also has an undertone of anger.
"It, It was me! I'm the one who did it with brother while he was asleep!" Lilith shouted out for the angels to hear.
The eyes of all the angels widened in surprise when they heard it with Raziel even stopped writing when he heard it. Adam also widened his eyes when he heard it.
"You! How dare you blame brother Zadkiel for your crime!" Azariel immediately rounded on the human when she heard it.
"Azariel, keep calm." Asbeel said to her.
"But, she, she." Azariel said as she glared at Lilith with Azazil doing the same.
"Silence." God's voice boomed in the hall silencing every angel present.
The angels quieted down the moment they heard his voice as they all turned to look at him. God looked at the two with an impassive gaze.
"Is what you said true? Are you the one who did it?" God said to Lilith.
"Yes, it was me. Big brother Zadkiel is innocent." Lilith said as she looked at the ground.
God stayed silent while Lilith's anxiety grew. Zadkiel wanted to try to dissuade God from putting harsh punishment on her.
"Father, Lilith is still young. She must've not know what she was doing. Please don't give her a harsh punishment." Zadkiel said to God.
Lilith looked at him with wide eyes when she heard him as tears appeared at the corners of her eyes before she looked down. Azazil and Azariel were also shocked by his reply but couldn't help but smile kindly at his direction. Gabriel was quite happy that he is still acting like his usual kind self, a thought which was going through many of the archangels.
It also has the same effect on the angels as their opinion of Zadkiel also increased as they looked at him with an even brighter light. Adam just smiled at his kind behaviour. Helel meanwhile was displeased when he saw the faces of the angels surrounding them.
God just stayed silent with closed eyes and the angels looked at him waiting for his reaction. God opened his and then turned to look at Adam who caught his creators gaze.
"Adam, since Lilith is your wife you shall decide her punishment." God said to him.
The angels were baffled when they heard God giving him the option of choosing the punishment for the woman. Helel was gritting his teeth as even he wasn't given that as he lightly glared at Adam. Adam just bowed in acknowledgement before he turned to the two of them. Zadkiel and Lilith waited for Adam's verdict along with the other angels.
"Lilith, for your punishment, I wish for you to be imprisoned in jail. Your food shall be delivered to you by brother Zadkiel so that you won't forget the sin that you've commited against him. Is that punishment good?" Adam said before he asked God.
"Yes, it is reasonable." God nodded to him.
Zadkiel sighed in relief when he heard the punishments and God's agreement to it.
"It would seem that you will be safe Lilith." Zadkiel said to her.
"Yes." Lilith just said as she couldn't look at his eyes.
Azazil and Azariel were nodding in agreement before a thought crossed her mind.
'Wait, doesn't that mean she will get to meet with Big brother Zadkiel everyday!?' The two thought with alarm when they realised that folly in the humans plan.
But before they or anyone else could voice out their disagreement God raised his hand.
"That shall be the punishment for Lilith. For your sin, you shall be imprisoned in the second heaven, and your food shall be attended to by Zadkiel to remind you of the sin that you've committed." God's voice was heard by all the angels.
"Yes father." The angels and humans said in unison without missing a beat.
No angel dared to defy him at that moment. No matter at what rank or position they are, God's authority is absolute. They might be able to influence his decision but the final decision in still God's. That is the reason neither Helel or the the two female angels said anything in protest.
"This trial is adjourned." God announced to all present.
