Chapter 28: Chapter [28]
Abandoned Church
The darkness of the night enveloped the abandoned church, the full moon casting a faint light through the broken windows, creating unsettling shadows on the worn walls. The wind blew lightly, making the dry leaves on the ground whisper eerily. On the altar, Raynare sat, her black wings partially spread, her eyes glowing with a thoughtful and disdainful look. Beside her, Mittelt and Kalawarner seemed restless, the tension in the air evident.
Raynare broke the silence with an irritated sigh. "Dohnaseek is taking too long. He should have been back hours ago."
Mittelt, with her ever-mischievous expression, shook her head. "Yes, he's late. Could something have gone wrong?"
Kalawarner, more serious and elegant, crossed her arms. "It's possible. But Dohnaseek is strong. If there was any trouble, he should be able to handle it."
Raynare frowned, irritation growing in her voice. "I don't like surprises. And I'm also starting to get impatient with the delay of that excommunicated nun."
Mittelt laughed softly, her wings fluttering slightly. "Maybe she got lost. These innocent children never know what to expect when they get involved with fallen angels."
Raynare gave a cruel smile. "Maybe. But we can't underestimate her. There are rumors that she possesses a powerful Sacred Gear. That's something that interests me a lot."
Kalawarner raised an eyebrow, curious. "Sacred Gear? What type?"
Raynare shrugged, still with a disdainful tone in her voice. "A foolish human who was helping the fallen angels told us about it. He mentioned that the nun, Asia Argento, has a Sacred Gear that can heal any wound. Imagine what we could do with such a power in our hands."
Mittelt smiled maliciously. "That would be very useful. We could use it to strengthen our allies and maintain our dominance."
Raynare nodded, her eyes shining with the prospect of power. "Exactly. But first, we need to find her and bring her here. And, of course, figure out what happened to Dohnaseek."
Kalawarner looked around, the tension evident on her face. "I hope he hasn't encountered problems with the Devils of Kuoh. If that's the case, we'll have more to deal with than just a lost nun."
Raynare gave a dark smile. "Either way, we're ready for anything. If anyone tries to interfere, they'll learn the hard way not to underestimate fallen angels."
As they continued to talk, the atmosphere in the church grew increasingly tense and expectant. They knew that the next move would be crucial and were ready to face any challenge that came their way. The night was just beginning, and the fate of the excommunicated nun and the missing fallen angel was about to be revealed.
Gremory Mansion
In the underground of the imposing Gremory mansion, the atmosphere was heavy and silent. The rough stone walls and cold floor created a dark and oppressive environment. In a dark cell, a figure was tied to a chair, the body covered in deep wounds and the face contorted in an expression of pain and despair. Dohnaseek, the fallen angel, was dead, his motionless and bloodied body bearing witness to the intensity of the interrogation.
Around the cell, Rias, Akeno, Sona, Tsubaki, and Grayfia watched with serious expressions. Grayfia was particularly satisfied with the girls' performance in extracting crucial information from the fallen angel before his death.
Rias took a deep breath and approached Grayfia, the expression of gratitude evident on her face. "Grayfia, thank you so much for coming and teaching us how to handle this situation. Your guidance has been invaluable."
Grayfia, always professional and reserved, nodded slightly. "I'm just doing my duty, Rias. It's important that you know how to handle enemies like this."
Sona also approached, nodding in agreement. "Yes, Grayfia. We are very grateful for your help. We learned a lot today."
Grayfia looked at the young women with an assessing gaze before asking, "Which of you captured the fallen angel?"
Rias stepped forward, responding firmly. "Actually, it wasn't us. It was the new member of my Peerage."
Grayfia raised an eyebrow, feigning surprise. "Oh, really? And who is this new member?"
Rias smiled slightly, feeling a certain pride in mentioning the name. "His name is Kaito. He recently joined my Peerage."
Grayfia nodded, showing interest. "I'd like to meet him, but I need to return to your brother's side, Rias."
Rias smiled, understanding. "Don't worry, Grayfia. There will be many opportunities for that in the future."
Grayfia gave a slight nod, satisfied. "Very well. Keep up the good work. Goodbye."
The girls bid farewell to Grayfia, expressing their gratitude one last time. "Thank you again, Grayfia," said Akeno, with a soft smile.
Tsubaki and Sona also gave polite bows. "We appreciate your help."
Grayfia smiled slightly, her posture always professional. "It was a pleasure to help. Take care."
Grayfia activated her teleportation circle. A bright light enveloped her body, and in an instant, she disappeared, leaving the underground environment in a heavy silence.
"We should take care of the fallen angels as soon as possible," said Sona, looking at Rias.
"Leave that to me and my Peerage, Sona. We'll handle this situation."
Sona looked at Rias, pondering for a moment. "Very well, Rias. I trust you. Besides, I have someone in mind to recruit for my Peerage. I'll leave this to you."
Rias smiled, feeling grateful for Sona's trust. "Thank you, Sona. We'll do our best."
Sona nodded, signaling to Tsubaki. "Let's go, Tsubaki. We have other tasks to attend to."
Tsubaki gave a polite bow before activating the teleportation circle. A soft light enveloped the two, and in an instant, Sona and Tsubaki disappeared, leaving Rias and Akeno alone in the dark environment.
Akeno approached Rias. "We should tell Kaito about what happened."
Rias shook her head, thinking. "Let's wait until morning, Akeno. He needs to rest. And it's also better to give this news calmly."
"Alright, Rias. We'll wait until morning."
Rias turned her attention to Dohnaseek's body, still tied to the chair. The sight of the dead fallen angel was a grim reminder of the intensity of the battle and the interrogation. Rias raised her hand, concentrating her destruction magic.
With a precise movement, Rias launched a sphere of bright red energy towards Dohnaseek's body. The sphere quickly grew, enveloping the fallen angel's body in intense light. The body began to disintegrate slowly, particles of energy dissipating into the air as Rias's destruction magic did its work.
The disintegration was quick and effective. In a few seconds, nothing remained of Dohnaseek's body, only a light residue of magical energy in the air.
"Let's rest, Akeno," said Rias finally, her voice low. "Tomorrow will be a new day, and we need to be prepared for anything."
Akeno nodded, following Rias as they left the underground environment, ready to face the challenges that the new day would bring.
