Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Kuroka Wants to Play With Her Sister Using a Cat Wand!
The scene shifted to the Fukuki household.
After coming home late, Fukuki couldn't escape being smothered in affectionate attacks.
Once he had washed up and wiped away the saliva left by a certain cat-eared girl, he stepped out of the bathroom to find that Kuroka had already set the dinner table in the living room.
"Alright, let's eat~"
She hummed a cheerful tune as she sat down by the table, gesturing for Fukuki to take the seat beside her. Behind her, two fluffy cat tails swayed lazily, a clear sign of her good mood.
It was as if the person who had gone into a frenzy earlier, sniffing him up and down, biting randomly after detecting a new and unfamiliar woman's scent on him, wasn't her.
Cats really are like that—much like dogs, they enjoy marking their territory with their scent.
Though it was a bit odd.
Every morning before Fukuki left for the day, she would use a spell to remove the scent he had acquired overnight, ensuring her younger sister wouldn't detect anything. Yet, by the time evening rolled around, she'd be upset again at the faint trace of another woman's smell and insist on marking him all over again.
Then, the next morning, she'd repeat the spell to clean it up...
It was almost like those strict schools where students are required to wear uniforms all day. Even if they buy new clothes, they can only enjoy wearing them for a few hours at home after classes.
Fukuki didn't mind at all. After all, he wasn't the one busying himself; as long as the catgirl was happy, it was fine.
"Huhu~"
The moment Fukuki sat down, Kuroka couldn't resist anymore. She snuggled up to him and plopped herself shamelessly onto his lap.
Fukuki didn't even move during the entire process, yet Kuroka, with her innate feline flexibility, easily maneuvered herself onto him.
To top it off, she held a large piece of juicy braised beef between her teeth and presented it in front of his mouth.
"Hmm~?"
No words were needed—her intentions were crystal clear. She wanted him to take it mouth-to-mouth.
Fukuki hesitated but sighed inwardly. Fine, let's just go along with her.
He leaned down, opening his mouth to accept the beef.
But Kuroka was quicker. Just as he opened his mouth, she leaned forward, skillfully splitting the beef into two smaller pieces, leaving one piece for each of them.
"...Well? How is it? Tasty?"
Content after achieving her goal, Kuroka licked her lips, looking expectantly at Fukuki.
"It's okay, I guess. But you sucked out all the juice—it's pretty flavorless now."
"Want another piece?"
"No thanks. Let's just eat dinner properly..."
"Boring~"
Despite his refusal, Kuroka didn't budge from her perch on his lap. She stayed put, occasionally stealing bites of food straight from his chopsticks whenever she fancied.
In return, she would also feed him from time to time—sometimes with chopsticks, sometimes mouth-to-mouth.
At moments like this, Fukuki couldn't help but think how the four chairs around the dining table were such a waste. Clearly, one would have sufficed.
As this thought crossed his mind, Kuroka's voice rose from below.
"So, how's your time with my little sister at school going?"
"Hm? It's fine, I guess..."
Fukuki swallowed his food before replying. Kuroka was, of course, referring to Koneko Toujou—whose real name, Shirone, he had learned from Kuroka long ago.
"What do you mean by 'fine'?"
Kuroka pouted as she turned around and stuffed a handful of enoki mushrooms soaked in beef broth into his mouth.
"I told you to take good care of Shirone at school, didn't I? Don't tell me you've been too busy flirting with big-breasted girls to pay attention to her?"
"Flirting... seriously?"
Fukuki tapped her head lightly with the back end of his chopsticks, utterly speechless.
"What are you imagining? Besides, Koneko and I aren't even in the same grade. It'd look suspicious if I randomly crossed grades to see her. She's not a kid in kindergarten who needs someone to make sure she's eating lunch properly."
"Who cares about that~?"
Kuroka waved her hand dismissively, clearly unbothered.
"I've told you before, haven't I? If you and Shirone end up doing... that sort of thing, I'd totally support it, you know?"
"...Pretty sure that's just your weird fetish talking."
"My fetish? What do you mean?"
Kuroka tilted her head, genuinely confused. After a moment of thought, her eyes lit up as if realizing something.
"Oh! Are you talking about how I once said I'd suddenly join in if you and Shirone ever did that? Well, that can't be helped. Shirone keeps avoiding me, after all. And books say that siblings can bond better if they experience things together~."
"I'm pretty sure the 'things' the books refer to don't include that," Fukuki said, resisting the urge to facepalm.
"Anyway, let's drop this bizarre topic."
"Fair enough~."
Unexpectedly, Kuroka obediently refrained from continuing the topic, though she teasingly licked her lips with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"After dinner, we can take a bath together... hehehe~"
As she said this, a thought seemed to cross her mind, prompting her to change the subject.
"By the way, has that girl from the Jujutsu Society contacted you again?"
"No, nothing since last time," Fukuki replied, setting down his chopsticks. He pulled out his phone from his pocket and checked both his forum messages and texts.
Sure enough, there were no new notifications.
"Hmm..."
Kuroka tilted her head, carefully checking the screen. Once she confirmed no follow-up messages, she shrugged nonchalantly.
"Well, no news is good news, I guess. Let's eat~ Once we're done, we can play around~!"
Barely a moment after her cheerful declaration, a breaking news alert from a news app popped up at the top of Fukuki's phone screen.
[At 5:39 PM this afternoon, in a residential house in Tokyo's Chuo Ward, a male corpse, suspected to be the victim of a ritualistic murder by cult members, was discovered by Tokyo Metropolitan Police officers. Citizens are urged to ensure their safety by keeping doors and windows securely closed. Report any suspicious individuals to authorities promptly...]
The rest was just boilerplate safety advice.
Fukuki focused on the first part of the news. Judging by the description, it seemed like the scene where he had eliminated that murderous priest earlier in the day. The corpse found in the house must have been the unfortunate homeowner.
But why did the report mention only one body? Didn't he leave the priest's decapitated head on the table?
Surely even the Tokyo police couldn't be incompetent enough to miscount corpses, right...?
