Chapter 26: Chapter 26 • Tsubasa-Kage's Final Flight
What the hell is this? What is all this? Can anyone tell me what's going on here?
None of it makes sense...
He was told by that person that Light Yagami couldn't be more powerful than a middle-class Ayakashi. At worst, he'd be as strong as a middle-class Ayakashi, but then, what the hell is that now? Why on earth is he as strong as he, who is an upper-class Ayakashi?
Just look at him there, with a fancy outfit transformed by the power of the 'Light Ferry' and even those wings made by his own power with elements of light and lightning in such a gaudy way that it's even difficult to look directly in his direction...
Nothing made sense to Tsubasa-Kage.
After all, who does he think he is? Amaterasu Omikami? Tsukuyomi-no Mikoto?
At that moment, Tsubasa-Kage was writhing in pain, feeling a whirlwind of grievance and indignation inside.
This wasn't supposed to be happening like this, none of it made sense to him.
Emerging from the wreckage of the crater formed by his large body, Tsubasa-Kage groaned in pain. His groan of pain was similar to the sound of a peregrine falcon, only louder.
Twitching his large body, Tsubasa-Kage squinted as he witnessed what Light Yagami was doing with the power of light, putting out the fire that was spreading through the forest.
'Is he a fool?
There was no way he could think otherwise. Using his power of light in this way was asking to spend energy on something useless, in his opinion.
However, this situation presented an advantage; Tsubasa-Kage's eyes narrowed, acquiring the predatory precision of a hawk and reflecting an impassive brutality, like that of an anaconda on the prowl. Then it began to flap its wings, releasing a phosphorescent powder that could cause hallucinations; Tsubasa-Kage began to spin as it encircled itself with its wings, soaring into the sky at high speed.
'If I start burning this mountainous forest, will he use his power to put out the fire?' His eyes became even more brutal and sinister.
Hovering in the air, Tsubasa-Kage, who looked in Light's direction, saw that the other party's brown eyes showed serenity, without the slightest sign of negative emotions or concern. This irritated him even more. It made him feel underestimated.
Opening his great beak, conjuring up his power of fire and wind, Tsubasa-Kage didn't aim at Light, but at the ground directly below, full of unburned trees, a disguised strategy. However, in his peripheral vision, he saw Light transform into particles of light, and soon several fragments of golden light were heading towards him at lightning speed.
[Hum!]
Just above his head, Tsubasa-Kage, through his peripheral vision, saw Light materialize and, with his left foot extended very close to his own head, there was a golden light on the sole of his foot.
Before Light's foot collapsed, Tsubasa-Kage could only mentally articulate an alarmed thought: 'I fucked up big time!'
Perhaps he should have pretended to be dead and never left that crater in the first place, or run away; that way, he might still have a chance of staying alive...
Light looked at him coldly, with murderous intent, and then muttered as black armor appeared on his foot: "Die."
"Whoosh!"
The sound of his foot hitting the wind echoed even louder than that of a sword slicing through the air.
"Boom!"
"Kiiiii...!"
The impact was so strong that Tsubasa-Kage was only able to emit a sharp sound of pain, before his head exploded on impact.
Tsubasa-Kage's giant and now decapitated body began to spin like an aimless kite, heading towards a mountain, ironically, the same one from which he had previously emerged.
"Boom!"
The loud sound of Tsubasa-Kage's body crashing to the ground echoed, raising a curtain of dust upon impact.
As the dust settled, Light witnessed Tsubasa-Kage's body turning to ash, resembling burnt leaves scattered by the wind. He then deactivated the Haki covering his left leg (Busoshoku Haki) and watched as his sword of light disintegrated. Then a cold voice reverberated in his consciousness, accompanied by a warning from the system awarding him 750 Fate points for eliminating Tsubasa-Kage.
What about the changes triggered by the death of a being of such Fortune as Tsubasa-Kage, and how such an act could alter the fate of the people linked to Tsubasa-Kage? These consequences were of little relevance to Light.
Light's philosophy is this: if you want to kill me, be prepared for my retaliation!
He has two options for those who wish to kill him: choose between condemning them to death or compelling them to obey, as he did with the three fallen angels - Raynare, Mittelt and Kalawarner. Alternatively, as happened with the fallen angel Dohnaseek, who, by refusing to be loyal to him, was mercilessly beaten and killed by his Busoshoku Haki clad fists...
Emitting a cold, indifferent laugh, Light returned his clothes to their usual school-like state and, with a strong beat of his wings, gained more altitude, soaring above the clouds, and then flew towards Kuoh City.
As he glided through the sky, Light concentrated and, in an instant, the Attribute Panel appeared before his eyes.

[Amaterasu Omikami] - She is the goddess of the sun and the universe in the Shinto religion. It is believed that life-giving light emanates from her, and she is often described as the ancestor of the Japanese imperial family. Her name, Amaterasu, can be translated as "she who illuminates the sky". The most famous story about Amaterasu is her self-exile in a cave, which caused a permanent eclipse until she was persuaded to come out, bringing light back into the world.
[Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto] - While not directly associated with light like Amaterasu, he is the god of the moon in Japanese mythology. As the moon reflects the light of the sun, Tsukuyomi can be considered a god who uses reflected light.
