Chapter 21: Chapter 21 • Burning Desires
"Why do you say that, Raynare?" Light asked seriously.
Before answering, Raynare turned to Mittelt: "Go and see if the two of them are all right."
"Yes~" Mittelt cast a meaningful glance in the direction of the two and left with a knowing expression.
After Mittelt left, Raynare turned her full attention to Light.
"Actually, it's just a hunch of mine," Raynare said. "My superiors, who had stopped contacting me, suddenly asked me to return to Grigori. It may not seem like much, but it may be my instinct speaking for me; I just feel that this time I'm not being called in just to catch up or receive another assignment, since they could very well ask me to do something without having to ask me to return to Grigori."
As she finished her words, Raynare reflexively bit her thumb, her intuition telling her that the call to return was not of a trivial nature.
Hearing this, Light exhaled deeply, a sigh of relief evident on his face.
"Actually," Light said, "I think I know why you were called to return to the Grigori."
"Huh?" Raynare asked. "What's the reason?"
'Could it be that Light has his own spies inside the Grigori headquarters itself?' Raynare wondered, intrigued by the scope of his information.
Seeing her look full of doubt and curiosity, he said, "Mm, it doesn't go anywhere..."
Seeing her approach, he whispered in her ear, "I won't go into details, but this must be because of the three factions - Devils, Fallen Angels and Angels - wanting to form an alliance. As for why you've been recalled, I assume that perhaps Azazel thinks that you might end up affecting the chance of this peace deal happening; I bet that right now, not only you, but most, if not all of those affiliated with the Grigori, have been recalled."
Light saw that this would happen not long after Issei became a Devil Reincarnate. Not only that, now that he has stolen Issei's Sacred Gear and, theoretically, it was Raynare, a Fallen Angel, who killed Issei, Azazel must be trying to prevent the Fallen Angels from affecting the possibility of the peace agreement coming to fruition.
Although this subject wasn't covered in the storyline he knew of Issei, Light reflected that this was because Issei simply wasn't capable enough to know about it. In fact, after the first two attacks Issei suffered, until the end of Raynare in Issei's storyline, no Fallen Angel appeared again to attack Issei, until Kokabiel appeared because he didn't want peace.
His attempt to start a new war, however, was prevented by Vali Lucifer. As for what happened to him afterwards, there was no information in Issei's storyline; Light assumed that he was imprisoned or something.
"A peace agreement?" Raynare raised her voice. "How can you want to make a peace agreement with those..."
Light interrupted her: "Raynare!"
"Yes!" She replied reflexively.
Light sighed and then said more softly: "Don't do anything, just let it happen, okay?"
Although she wasn't very happy about it, Raynare still agreed. She still had a certain level of loyalty to Azazel, so even though she wasn't happy about the possibility of having a peace agreement, especially with the Devils, she would still listen if Light told her not to do anything that would hinder Azazel's plans.
Of course, all this is only based on the premise that Azazel and the other leaders of each faction have already talked about the peace agreement. Theoretically, Light believed that they had, since such an important matter couldn't just come out of nowhere and happen. Light believed that, long before they made the peace agreement, they had already had several discussions until they reached a consensus.
"So should I, Mittelt and Kalawarna answer the summons?" Raynare asked him for his opinion.
Really? Although Light thought his theory was possible, it was still, in the end, just a theory. If they returned, it was hard to say what would really happen to them.
On reflection, Light said, after much consideration: "Actually, I could be wrong. So I'll leave it to you. Give one to Mittelt and one to Kalawarna."
Seeing the card with the symbol of a tree and a green snake's eye in the bottom right-hand corner, Raynare frowned.
"What's that?" She tried to guess: "Something like a life preserver?"
"That's right," said Light, without elaborating: "Use it only if you really have to, because it's very rare. However, if you are in danger of life or death, don't hesitate to use it. When you activate it by imbuing the card with your holy power, it will react and automatically send you to safety."
He couldn't say it wasn't rare, after all, it was something only he possessed. This card would send them directly to his [Inner World] and was for single use only. It cost him 50 Fate points each. It wasn't exorbitant, but it wasn't exactly cheap either.
But since they had helped him accumulate so many points, he still thought they were worth it, especially Raynare, who was now his wife.
"Light-sama..." Raynare became emotional.
The heat and excitement consumed her to such an extent that the idea of giving in to her passion, tearing off Light's clothes and having sex like two animals; wild and untamed, assaulted her!
Seeing her act like this, Light wasn't frightened, but he couldn't deny that he was a little surprised.
Using the Light Ferry, Light touched her head.
In the next instant, Raynare, who was almost being controlled by her sexual urges, came to her senses.
"What was I going to do now..."
Light Ferry's power was very miraculous; the instant it was used on her mind, she came to her senses.
But...
'I'm so horny...' She thought, biting her lower lip as she looked at Light with obvious desire.
Seeing her squirm a little, Light knew that this 'problem' needed to be solved.
"Let's go to a hotel." Light whispered in her ear, before kissing her lips.
"Yeah..." Seeing Light walk away, Raynare followed him without delay, flying through the sky.
Before leaving, Light left a message on the ground written with the power of light.
[Something urgent has come up, we'll come back later].
In the end, Mittelt was casting that look at them before actually leaving, something was going to happen...
Well, as for what they really assumed Light and Raynare were going to do, he didn't care.
The important thing was for them to pretend they didn't know; in fact, even if they didn't, he wouldn't react too much to it.
As for why he wanted to go to a hotel and not stay there? Well, if they went to a hotel, they could expand the options, such as a hotel with a jacuzzi...
