Chapter 11: Chapter 11 • The Intellectual Battle of Light and Sona
Ever since the YouTube channel Scream started publishing videos, it has become a hot topic among the students at Kuoh Academy.
Many began to theorize that the person responsible for the videos could be someone their own age, and that the powers displayed in the videos were not the result of sophisticated editing, but authentic. This theory gained widespread support.
Rumors of all kinds circulated around Kuoh Academy about Scream.

In the student council, Light settled into the chair for visitors, crossing his legs with a calmness that seemed to indicate that he was in his own home.
As Light watched Sona Sitri, Sona, Tsubaki and the other members of the council also cast curious glances in his direction
"It's an interesting proposal, though," Light said, interlacing his fingers at chest level, "I'm afraid I'm going to have to turn it down."
Sona seemed not entirely convinced.
"Are you really going to decline the offer?" She questioned.
"You see, Sona-kaichou," Light replied with serenity and disinterest, "if someone claimed that you were the second most intelligent person in the school, hardly anyone would dare say that you were the first. However, I can say that I am the first. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?"
"Smug!"
"Don't just brag about getting high marks!"
"That annoys me so much..."
"Sona-kaichou has much greater responsibilities than you. You just don't realize why she's not ahead of you in the exams!"
As soon as Light had finished speaking, the members of Sona's peerage, who were also on the student council, were clearly annoyed, as if they wanted to teach Light a lesson.
"Hahaha!" Light let out a laugh.
At this point, Light's previously serene and indifferent expression had dissipated. After his laugh, a soft, charming smile adorned his face as he placed his cup of tea on the table in front of him.
His calm and amiable posture conveyed an aura of refinement and distinction.
Naturally, that would have been everyone's impression if they hadn't witnessed his previous behavior...
Sona was surprised by the rapid change in Light's expression, especially with the members of his peerage hurling insults in his direction.
It was hard to decipher what went on in the minds of people like that - they were truly enigmatic!
"So, if I beat you in an intelligence challenge, would you join us?" Sona insisted, looking even more determined to have him in her peerage.
"Sona-kaichou!" Momo tried to intervene.
"Momo, be quiet." Tsubaki scolded her.
"Yes..." Momo muttered, disappointed.
"Oh?" Light was puzzled. "Sure, why not?"
Sona ordered Tsubaki, "Put the chessboard on the table."
"As you wish," replied Tsubaki, moving with innate grace.
Before long, everything was duly arranged
In fact, the young women who made up Sona's peerage were eager, almost salivating for the chance to see Light humiliated. They had already imagined the scene: after his defeat, they would laugh outrageously, pointing at him and exclaiming: "Well done!"
Silence filled the room as Light and Sona stood on opposite sides of the board. Every move was meticulously calculated, with both players displaying intense concentration.
The members of Sona's peerage watched intently, their eyes following every piece moved on the board, sensing the growing tension in the air.
The match unfolded with strategic and impressive moves from both sides. Sona, with her cunning strategy, managed to put Light in several difficult situations.
However, Light, with his unparalleled skill, always found a way out, surprising everyone.
The members of Sona's peerage exchanged glances with each other, the hope of seeing Light defeated diminishing with every move. The match was so even that it was hard to predict who would emerge victorious.
However, after a series of brilliant moves, Light managed to corner Sona's king.
Light announced with a smile: "Checkmate."
A deep silence filled the room, with everyone surprised by the outcome of the match.
"How is that possible..."
"Did he really beat Sona-kaichou?"
Tsubaki, who rarely let her emotions get the better of her, was visibly surprised.
"He really beat Kaichou..." Tomoe began, but was quickly silenced by Tsubasa.
Within Sona's peerage, there was an understanding: only he who could beat her in a game of chess would have the privilege of becoming her fiancé.
Tsubaki cast a questioning glance at Sona, curious as to how she would react after being defeated by someone from her own generation.
With a resigned sigh, Sona admitted: "I was defeated."
"Well, it looks like I won't be joining your peerage," commented Light with a relaxed smile. "It was an interesting match, though. Call me if you want a rematch."
"I will." Sona said.
Even after Light left the student council room, the members of Sona's peerage remained in a state of shock.
After all, among the Underworld's brightest intellects, no one of their generation had managed to beat Sona at chess!

Seeing what appeared on his retina, a subtle smile formed on Light's lips.
Near the exit gate, Light, using his Haki, noticed something descending from the sky
'A notebook?' he thought to himself. He stopped and waited. When the object was close enough, he reached out and grabbed it.
"..." As his left hand touched the notebook, his consciousness seemed to fade.
With his eyes closed, he remained motionless, holding the notebook.
About a minute later, Light opened his eyes.
"Fascinating..." He murmured. An enigmatic smile appeared on his face.
Continuing on his way, he opened his backpack and put the black notebook inside.
