Chapter 221 Dungeon Raiders Part 2

"Nika, don't tell me." Uriel sighed.

"Pretty cool, huh!? I picked the name myself."

"Guys, forget about that, what is going on?" Sam was on the verge of tears, he didn't know if he was relieved for being rescued or scared about a possible fight with Jon.

"It was very impolite of you to not come and say hi when you came to campus, Jon." A strangely familiar voice came out from the crowd.

"Mister Scofield! What are you doing here?"

"Ah! Young bookworm, I was very worried about you. I'm glad to see you're alright, there will be time to explain things but I'm afraid there's little time left until they come back."

Uriel didn't want to find out what did he mean by that, nor did any on his party, and they hurriedly walked into one of the several ATVs lined up.

"Package secured, proceed with the extraction, I repeat, proceed with the extraction." A commanding voice resounded in the place and the engines roared.

"What are you doing here Xavier? Don't tell me that's your kid." Jon lifted a brow.

"My daughter is doing great these days," Scofield faked a cough and then continued. "No, I'm here on behalf of the college. As you may have noticed, he's quite talented for his age and we can't afford to lose him to the likes of you."

"What? I'm offended you think I might harm a kid like that! We actually get along quite well."

"I'll take your word for that, but if I hear otherwise..."

Jon gulped down a lump of saliva, ever since he became a holy rank hunter there was only one person who ever defeated him and that was Xavier Scofield, the Quill. It was so bad it couldn't even be called a fight, it was a one sided beating, so gruesome Jon had become traumatized.

The last he heard about Scofield was that he was working as a librarian which, given the nature of his trait, was the scariest possibility. However, the old librarian wasn't there to terrorize Jon, but to rescue Uriel's party.

Usually, someone like him wouldn't get involved into such matters. Even if he cared about Uriel, he was of the idea that the young had to forge their own path in life and didn't want to pamper him too much.

The reason why he came was because Ethan's eldest brother called all the involved parties saying that his brother was dead, which could be a sign that the exploration was at risk and losing an orichalcum vein was a hit for all of humanity.

When Jon was questioned about the events that transpired inside the dungeon he wasn't as vague as he usually was and proportioned all the information they requested of him, all while keeping his promise of saying that Miss Winona Works died inside the dungeon.

Truth be told, he was glad to do so because he loved the young lady as though she was her own child and he couldn't forgive himself for letting so much harm come to her, all because of his greed.

He didn't know to what point Uriel was involved with Scofield, but he didn't want to be involved in anything related to Scofield and he made plans to go back to Europe as soon as the Mapple corp allowed it.

Uriel was sent into a daze as he couldn't understand the events that unfolded in such shot amount of time. For starters, the person he least expected to meet at the lost city was waiting for him when he exited the dungeon. Not only that, for some strange reason Jon seemed terrorized by the sight of Scofield, but that didn't make any sense.

"Could he be his father?" He muttered, then he shook his head. "Why did the army come pick us up?" He asked again, yet no one replied. "No, if they were here to pick the soldiers up, why did they set off as soon as we got in, the soldiers were behind.

There's something fishy going on here, what do you guys think?" At that moment, Uriel looked around and realized he was inside of his trait, but strangely, no one could hear him.

Now that he was inside of his trait he didn't want to miss the opportunity to check up on his newly acquired artifact. He headed towards the ancient era exhibition, but oddly enough it wasn't there. It was something similar to what happened to the orichalcum dagger, it simply disappeared but he somehow knew it had to be somewhere.

He tried to summon the book with no success, not that he expected a different outcome. He then explored the rest of his museum to see if there had been any changes and when he entered the pre apocaliptic era exhibition he wasn't disappointed in the slightest. There, close to the wall, stood a strange figure with a huge frame similar to Shaker's body type covered in bandages, it was a mummy.

It could be said that in spite of all the hardships Uriel endured during the exploration, the outcome was much better than he could have ever dreamed of. He had the book, some loot, all of his companions survived and he also got rid of two annoying enemies. Thinking about such matters, Uriel opened his eyes and looked around from his seat in the ATV.

There was Luna taking care of Medusa with the help of two field medics, Sam was next to him looking outside the window of the vehicle, Janett who had bitten her nails in anxiety so much she was actually bleeding from the tips of her fingers and Nika who was directly in front of him.

She smiled at him, it wasn't the usual flirtatious smile nor was it a mischievous grin, it was an honest smile that made Uriel feel butterflies on his stomach.

'Is this what falling in love feels like?' he thought to himself, but those thoughts were cut short when that feeling became more intense, up to the point it was actually painful. His muscles cramped, his head felt like it was about to explode and his vision became blurry. It was the same feeling he experienced the last time he spent too much flux energy, only two times stronger.

"Guys, I don't feel well." Uriel consciousness faded as he fell face forward, Nika barely managed to catch him before he fell to the floor of the vehicle.
