Dreamlord Asura

Chapter 9: ~009 First Mission

Just then, Li Kai willed for the system to close, after deactivating the crimson panel of the asura system he heard a creak in the door.

For a moment he thought that russel has left him behind and has already gone ahead.

Just then Russel retured.

"The slum's residents seem in so such pandemium this morning I wonder why?" Russel commented.

Li Kai furrowed his brows a bit confused.

Noticing his expression Russel added.

"What does it matter to us anyway… Come take my hand let me take you to my favourite spot… it's on the outskits but am sure you would love it."

Li Kai at the moment didn't have anything better to do, with goal to understand this world and how it works it is only naturally that he seeks a way to leave his abode.

But without a good reason yet and enough understanding of his immediate enviornment Li Kai choose not to ask Russel much and just go with the flow.

Besides, Li Kai was currious and this would certainly be insightful along the journey.

Thinking about the asura system, the alterate dimension and the free pick he got from the previous night's encounter, Li Kai was feeling anxious about it all.

Worst of all he feelt his weakness more than ever before and a deep fear hidden even from him was born.

"How can a blind get back to his peak?" Li kai thought to himself with furstartion.

Russels calling out to him to hold his hand was a painfull reminder to his new reality.

Yes! He was excited about all the perks of the system but despit the outward facade he displayed he knew that there was somthing more, perhaps even dark about the system.

The experience in the alternate dimension was one he wouldn't easily forget and he dreaded ever going there again.

Alas what was more furstrating was having absolutly no control over the events that occured in his life.

~Sigh~

Streaching out his hand, Russel held onto it and pulled him up.

Just after a few steps Li kai fell to the ground again, sever aches from his bones plauged him.

Li Kai knew that the real Davi, the owner of this body which he currently inhibits was ill for about a year and just by the pains he was getting all over his body he deduced that he was probaly bedridden for about seven months if not more.

"Brother easy… It's been a while you stood, it will take some time adjusting to your own body weight again" Russel said as he attempted to pull Davi back up again.

"Here take my hand once more lets try again" Russel said outstreaching his hands for Davi to grab onto them.

All davi saw was darkness, this terrified him.

Initially he thought that it was copable with but now he bagan to think otherwise.

That means he be forever dependent on someone unless some sort of miracle happens which at the moment he wasn't to optimistic about it.

He was happy about escaping his world and surviving the ordeal with the immortals but this… "This felt absolutely wrong" Li kai thought.

Shoving his worries under a rock with determination in his eyes, Li Kai was ready to walk again.

"I will not let these impediments hinder me!" Li kai affirmed within himself.

As he held tightly to the hands of his brother, Russel pulled him up, this time, though he did not attempt to work, Instead, he just stood there.

Russel understood this, as he stood calmly by his side, he said: "Take your time brother."

Li Kai nodded his head in response an just like that few minutes passed.

After Li kai felt that his legs where now used to his weight he attepted to take a step, Russel held onto him thightly to avoid falling.

Stabilizing himself, he attempted another step after a near fall.

This went on for a copple of minuts before Li Kai could comfotable work although not without external help.

"Alright, brother lets go then" Li Kai said to Russel.

Russel was happy and surprised.

Happy because this is the first he had spoken to him today.

Infact Russel felt like Davi was more of an introvert but attributed it due to his blindness.

He thought of Davi as a man of few words which he admired.

Secondly he was surprised albeit even puzzled why Davi would be forgetting his usual staff which he always went out with.

After thinking about it for some time he thought that it might be as a result of the illness and maybe he might have forgotten then opting to give a subtle reminder to help Davi recall he said.

"Aren't you forgetting something?" Russel asked Davi, who was puzzed by the question.

Davi turned to look at the source of the voice which was Russel's face furrowing is brows in the process

"Your usual?" Russel added.

Yet Davi could not recall even from the memories he inherited form the previous Davi he was yet to figure out this simple fact.

"Remind me" Li Kai said

Smiles… "Your staff brother, here take it; You never leave the house without it, remember?" Russel asked

"Yes!" Thank you brother.

As Li Kai felt the staff, he felt a warm feeling from the depth of his soul, like this was his lost arm, he felt connected to the staff in a somewhat inexplicable way.

Seeming to remember that the staff was his signature mark back in the forsaken saints world, a small smile appeared upon his lips.

"At least I still have you" Li kai thought inwardly reffering to the staff.

All this happend in less than a second.

With that Li kai Left with his brother from their run down shack were they resided to the place Russel is leading him to.

***

Apple Tree, Oustkirts of Blue Wind Town…

"This is my favorite spot" Russel said.

"I began coming here since you fell ill, it is calming and helps me get away from all the trobles that plauge me" Russel added

They arried under the apple tree an hour ago due to how slow Davi walked as he was still adjusting to it, thankfully, his staff helped him and supported him all the way.

"The air is refreshing," Davi said

"Indeed, it is brother… Unlike the stale air and sometimes pungent smell that surrounds our home," Russel said.

~Chuckles~

"That's an awful way to describe our home, don't you think?" Davi spoke up.

"Ha ha… you know that as the truth brother what use is there to even hide it, we live in the slums, younno" Russel laughed.

"Indeed brother that place is horrible… why can't we live under this apple tree I personally love it here" Davi said.

"You first and second is cold… It could really get freezing in the winters" Russell responded

"Now that makes sense, still I now see more reason why you enjoy the tranquility of this place" Davi responded.

"Indeed, did I mention?" Russell asked

"What?" Responded Davi

"I also come here to… Oh! Is that an apple? And I see seven of them" Russell cut off in his response as he discovered an apple.

Almost instantaneously, both tummies of the twin growled in unison, indicating that the have not heard breakfast or dinner the previous day.

"Really, where is it?" Davi asked, getting excited over food

"Up above on the tree, sadly, I don't know if I might be able to reach it" Russell responded.

"You can't?" Davi asked

"No! Its not that I just have a phobia for hights" Russel responded

While davi nodded in understanding.

"So what do you suggest for breakfast then?" Davi asked

"I dont know… I left my brown leather pouch at home and…" Russel paused

"And?" Davi asked

"You have being the better climber between us, why don't you climb and get us those fruits that we might eat them and have breakfast?" Russel suggested.

"Ha Ha Ha… That was an incredably solid joke, you didn't tell me you have such a knack for comedy huh?" Davi said as he burst out laughing.

"I am serious brother!" Russel responded.

"For real?" Davi askked in doubt

"Yes! I could give you directions and perhaps you could get the apples" Russel said.

"You do realise that I am blind right?" Davi asked

"I do but…" Russel responded.

"Okay I will do it but before that care to complete what you were saying before you discovered our breakfast?" Li kai asked sarcastically

"Hehe brother still loves my tales I see," Russel replied

"Go on am all ears" Davi responded.

Due to the fact that he was blind, his other senses are all stonger than a regular individual for example, his hearing.

"Well I do come here for exercising… Mr frank told me a certain time that buliding my body could increase the success for magic awakeing I took that advise seriously and have been training since then" Russel said.

But just as Davi was about to respond;

"What the hell was that?" Li Kai blurted out in schock

Not only was the missions notice sudden and abrubt but it was also very loud in his head. He was totally not expecting this.

"Moreover ten apples? His brother clearly stated seven how come?" Li kai thought inwardly

"Hell was what?" Russel asked confused ofver the sudden outburst from his brother.

"Oh nothing its nothing" Davi responded rather hastily

Russel was taken aback but choose not to dwell on it.

Davi on the other hand was in an internal tumoil.

"What does it mean by an hour of tourment?" he asked as an unknown fear was suddenly bubbling within.

~Sigh~

"Now what to do?" he thought to himself.
