Chapter 1: Reborn
Walking on the streets of Ohio, a teen in a black hood walked. His outfit also had brown trousers and black trainers; he had his earpiece in his ears as he walked with a navy-blue backpack on his back. He had green eyes and blonde hair, a sad look was constantly on his face, he was of slim build, average in height and looks but always had a dream of flying. Being a pilot was always his dream and he loved being in the sky, he loved the sensation of flying and his ambition was to join the Airforce just like his grandfather. He was walking to his favorite donut shop when he opened the door with his head down and there was a loud bang.
The store was being robbed but he didn't notice, and the robber panicked and shot his straight in the chest hitting his lungs as blood began to fill them.
"Damn it, I guess I'm not becoming a pilot anymore. Sorry Grandpa" he said inwardly as his grandfather's face flashed before his eyes.
"So, this is what dying feels like" he said inwardly again as a stream of ran from his mouth.
All his best memories from his life flashed before his eyes and then finally everything went black. In that darkness, he heard a voice whisper into his ears, Rune Yakersson. At those words' memories of a life, he never lived started flooding into his mind keeping only key moments from his past life. The memories kept on coming until he finally woke up from sleep, rising up like he had just had a nightmare. He panted heavily as he tried to catch his breath with everything happening so quickly.
"That was a rush...." he said looking around the room he was in.
His first reaction was to look at his chest and he saw no bullet wounds which was weird.
"What? No bullet wound?" he said confused on what was happening.
He took a closer look around the room he was in and saw the old school bed he was on, the wooden table and chair five feet away from the foot of his bed, the poorly crafted shelf that held his clothes and boots and then a mirror. That caught his attention, he walked out of his head slowly looking at what felt like a new body. Slowly he approached the mirror and the change in appearance was life changing.
"What have I gotten myself into" he said looking at his new features in the mirror.
He had brown eyes and blonde hair with a rounded face, his build was a bit bulkier than what it once was and for the first time in his life he had a semi six pack. When he focused on his face, he noticed that he looked a lot like someone that he had seen before, he studied his face for two minutes and then it came to him.
"Holy shit, I'm in the How to train your dragon world!" he exclaimed in the room then quickly covered his mouth not whose house he was in.
"No wonder I looked a bit like Hiccup" he whispered this time around.
"That means.... I get to fly a dragon" he said with an excited voice.
He quickly turned to the shelf of clothes and wore a grey long sleeve tunic and brown leather boots to accompany his black pants. He rushed down the stairs eager to get and get to work on taming a dragon when he was stopped in his tracks by two people, one a blonde-haired man and the other a blonde-haired woman. Both of them were hefty looking and the man wore a helmet on his head and had a beard while the woman made her hair into two long pigtails. The man had a chain vest over his pale green tunic underneath with a big belt around his waist with dark brown pants on and brown fur boots. The woman on the other hand wore a beige sleeveless top that went all the way down to her knees with grey fur boots and a green apron. She held two plates of food in her hand as the man sat at the dining table.
"Morning Rune" the man said in a calm but intimidating tone.
He looked at them awkwardly not knowing who they were then memories flashed before him and then a realization hit him, they were his parents. Wout (pronounced Vaut) and Diana Yakersson.
"Good morning mom and dad" he answered trying to keep himself calm as he really wanted to run out.
"Won't you have breakfast with us?" His mother said.
"I know today is your first day at the dragon academy and you're eager to get going but have some food before you go" Wout said.
"Yes, I will" Rune said but was shocked at what they said, he was enrolled in the dragon academy.
That was already the first part of his list checked. He sat down with them and ate quickly before doing his dish and running off, he didn't take note of what his home looked like or that fact that he lived on a farm. Though he had memories of this world it would still take some getting used to as dragons walked past and flew over him. Any normal person would get freaked out at first but Alan or should I say Rune now had dreamt of being in a world like this from the time of the first movie so to him it was a dream come true. It was also part of what inspired him to become a pilot in his past life, he admired every dragon his eyes came across as he wondered through the village until he made it to the training arena. He also deduced that he was in the year of the second movie considering the number of dragons and advancements made.
He was the last person to arrive and from how things looked, he was late, he stood next to his mates whom he seemed to know a bit from his new memories. The person standing next to him was Forde Vineyard, he had spiky brown hair and blue eyes and was roughly the same height as him but skinnier. He wore a brown long sleeve tunic and a black sleeveless vest with green pants and brown boots. Next to Forde was a girl named Thyra, she was bulky like your regular Viking with black eyes, she wore a helmet with two short horns that she used to keep all her black hair under. She wore a black fur bracer on her left wrist, a sleeveless fur tunic and black pants which are held together by a black belt. She also had two metal shoulder pads and brown boots on.
Next to her was another beefy Viking known as Sten Blockhead, he was of average height being 17 years old and the oldest among them by a year. He had very mature looks and Dark green eyes. He has silky black hair which he lets two strands dangle on the right side of his head but backs the rest of it into a bun. He wore a black leather sleeveless vest with a brown short sleeve tunic underneath accompanied by brown pants and black boots. The last person on the line was a beauty known as Vyra Hofferson, the cousin of Astrid. She had black eyes and long red hair which she used to make one big braid; she wore two brown fur bracers on both wrists. A deep ocean blue top, a brown leather belt with spikes, a short brown skirt, black leggings and brown boots with rope around them completed her look. A golden head band was worn on her head.
Rune looked in front of him and there stood the riders of Berk and their dragons, but the dragon Rune was most excited to see was Toothless standing in front nest to Hiccup. Valka, Gobber and Cloudjumper were also present.
"Welcome to the Dragon Training Academy. Here you will learn about dragons, develop your combat skills, learn to tame and ride dragons and most of all, form close bonds with these incredible creatures that will last you a lifetime" The chief, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III addressed them.
"And the first order of the day has come, picking your dragon" he added.
"Students, name your dragon" Astrid announced. "Starting with you Vyra"
"I would like to ride a Stormcutter" she answered boldly.
"Excellent choice" Valka said leaning on the wall of the arena not too far from her.
"I would like a Mostrous Nightmare" Sten answered.
Rune hadn't thought of his choice yet. Most people in the fanbase would choose the Night Fury but Toothless was the only one in their world, he would have to pick a different dragon so he began to think.
"I would like my dragon to be a Rumblehorn" Thyra spoke out.
"A Rumblehorn is a very solid choice" Fishlegs commented.
"I want a Deadly Nadder" Forde said.
Now it was Rune's turn, and he finally made his choice.
"I want a Sand Wraith" he said with his choice causing a bit of silence among them.
"A Sand Wraith? Those are pretty damn hard to find. Pick again" Gobber said.
"They are hard to find but not impossible" Hiccup said turning to look at Gobber. He then turned back to Rune and looked at him in the eye. "Are you sure that's what you want?"
Rune was already full of second thoughts but then took a huge gulp before answering. "Yes, that's what I want" he answered with a bit of shakiness in his voice.
"Okay, if he wants a Sand Wraith, let's get him one" Hiccup said.
"But where are we supposed to find one?" Astrid questioned him.
"Sand Wraiths bury themselves in sand so any beach would do" Fishlegs stated.
"Didn't we already face one back at the Northern Markets?" Tuffnut asked.
"No that was a Sandbuster" Snotlout answered.
"What's the difference?" Ruffnut said.
"Mom, I think you can take it from here with all the dragon taming because Toothless and I will help this young man find the dragon of his dreams" Hiccup said.
She nodded and took center stage as Hiccup, Rune and Toothless walked out of the arena. Hiccup mounted Toothless and he stretched out his arm to help Rune aboard. He was hesitant about climbing Toothless, but Hiccup helped him on, and they took to the sky. Rune's heart was racing seeing that they were now hundreds of feet above the ground and the feeling of being in the sky on dragon back was unforgettable. He just felt free. His mind soon returned, and he was focused on their main task at hand, finding a Sand Wraith.
