Dragon Ball: Perfection

Chapter 30: Chapter 29: The Makings of Saiyan Warriors

The training chamber buzzed with a faint hum, its atmosphere dense from the immense gravity multiplier. Trunks and Goten stood at its center, sweat gleaming on their foreheads as they adjusted to the crushing weight pressing down on their bodies.

Despite only three days of intense training, their growth was already visible. Their frames were no longer those of carefree teenagers, they had filled out, their muscles defined, and their eyes sharper, reflecting a newfound determination.

Vegeta stood a few meters away, his arms crossed, his weighted training bands strapped tightly around his wrists and ankles. Though he, too, was burdened by the extreme gravity and additional weights, he exuded an aura of calm control. His piercing gaze swept over the boys as they prepared for another sparring session.

"You've improved," Vegeta said curtly. "But don't get cocky. Your power means nothing if you don't learn to wield it properly."

Trunks grinned, rolling his shoulders. "We're ready, Dad. Hit us with everything you've got."

Goten mirrored his friend's smirk, cracking his knuckles. "Yeah, don't hold back!"

Vegeta's lips twitched into a faint smirk. 'Confident brats. But their growth is undeniable. Their S-cells are practically brimming with potential. If they keep this up, they'll surpass me and Kakarot sooner than I'd like to admit.'

Without warning, Vegeta lunged forward, his weighted movements still blindingly fast. Trunks barely had time to react as Vegeta's fist slammed into his guard, the force sending him skidding backward across the chamber floor. Goten capitalized on the opening, darting in with a spinning kick aimed at Vegeta's side.

"Hmph!" Vegeta grunted, catching Goten's leg mid-swing and hurling him into the air. Goten twisted in midair, landing with a heavy thud but quickly regaining his footing.

The two boys regrouped, their movements sharp and precise. They exchanged a quick glance before attacking in tandem. Trunks feinted high with a rapid series of punches, while Goten aimed low with a sweeping kick. Vegeta blocked both effortlessly, his arms moving with mechanical precision.

"Sloppy," Vegeta growled, countering with a powerful elbow that caught Goten in the chest, sending him sprawling. Trunks managed to land a glancing blow on Vegeta's shoulder but paid for it when Vegeta retaliated with a crushing knee to his midsection.

Gasping for air, Trunks staggered backward, clutching his ribs. "How… are you still so fast with those weights on?"

Vegeta's smirk widened. "Because I've trained harder and longer than either of you can imagine. Stop relying on raw power and start using your brains."

The boys nodded, adjusting their stances. This time, they moved more deliberately, their strikes more coordinated. Goten darted in with a quick jab, forcing Vegeta to block, while Trunks aimed for an opening in his defenses. Vegeta still countered every move, but he noticed the difference.

'They're learning,' Vegeta thought. 'Their instincts are sharpening with every exchange. At this rate, they'll master the basics in days instead of weeks.'

After several more rounds, Vegeta called a halt, his breathing steady despite the effort. The boys collapsed onto the floor, their chests heaving as they struggled to recover.

"You're improving faster than I expected," Vegeta admitted, his tone grudging but sincere. "But don't think that means you can slack off. Talent without discipline is useless."

Trunks and Goten sat up, their expressions serious despite their exhaustion.

"We'll keep pushing," Trunks said firmly. "We're not stopping until we're ready for whatever's coming."

Goten nodded. "Yeah. Cell Max won't know what hit him."

Vegeta grunted in approval. "Good. Now, onto the next phase."

....

The sparring session gave way to a new exercise. Vegeta led the boys to a set of floating spheres emitting faint pulses of energy. The air around them shimmered with residual ki, creating a field of interference that disrupted the boys' energy flows.

"These are ki stabilizers," Vegeta explained. "They'll test your ability to maintain a steady flow of energy under pressure. If your ki fluctuates, the spheres will react, and you'll feel it."

Trunks approached the first sphere, his hands trembling slightly as he placed them on either side of it. He closed his eyes, focusing on channeling his energy into a steady stream. The sphere glowed faintly, but a sudden spike in his ki caused it to pulse violently, sending a jolt through his arms.

"Too much power," Vegeta barked. "Control your output. Ki isn't just about strength, it's about balance."

Goten stepped up to the next sphere, his expression serious. He fared slightly better, his energy more stable, but faint fluctuations still disrupted the flow.

"Ki is like a river," Vegeta continued, pacing behind them. "Too weak, and it dries up. Too strong, and it floods. You must learn to control it completely, no matter the circumstances."

The boys worked tirelessly, their focus unwavering despite the strain. By the end of the session, both had managed to stabilize their ki enough to keep the spheres glowing steadily.

"Better," Vegeta said, a faint note of approval in his voice. "But you're still not ready for the real fight."

....

The final exercise of the day was meditation. Vegeta sat cross-legged on the floor, gesturing for the boys to do the same.

"Meditation isn't just sitting around," he said sharply. "It's about mastering your mind and your energy. Close your eyes and feel your ki. Let it flow naturally, without interference."

Trunks and Goten obeyed, their postures stiff at first. Slowly, their breathing steadied, and their energy began to stabilize.

"Good," Vegeta said. "Now, imagine splitting your ki into two streams, one active, one passive. This is the foundation of Spirit Control. With it, you'll be able to manipulate your energy with far greater precision."

The boys frowned in concentration, their auras flickering as they attempted to follow Vegeta's instructions. Goten let out a frustrated sigh. "This is harder than it looks!"

"Of course it is," Vegeta snapped. "If it were easy, you'd already be doing it. Keep trying."

Trunks gritted his teeth, his energy finally beginning to flow in two distinct streams. Vegeta nodded approvingly.

"Good. Now maintain it. The longer you can hold it, the stronger your control will become."

....

As the session wound down, Vegeta stood and crossed his arms. "You've done well today," he admitted grudgingly. "But don't think that means you can rest. Tomorrow, we'll push even harder."

Trunks and Goten rose shakily, their bodies sore but their determination unshaken.

"Thanks, Dad," Trunks said quietly.

Vegeta grunted, his expression unreadable. "Don't thank me yet. You're not done."

As the boys left the chamber, Vegeta lingered behind, his thoughts heavy. 'They're ready,' he thought. 'But they need to realize that for themselves. They have to earn it.'

With that, he turned off the lights, leaving the chamber in silence.
