Dragon Ball Odd Future

Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Family Talk

As the Shibuto family relaxes inside the family car, eating their sushi Mo-Mochi, nudges his dad as a way to remind him not to forget what they had talked about in the hospital. His dad gives a light nod as he finishes his food.

He then looks to his kids and says, "Hey, Mochi Mellow, can you two wait here in a car for a second? I want to talk to your mother outside for just a few minutes. We won't be long now, Mochi. Watch your sister and help her finish her sushi and make sure she doesn't try to eat the wasabi."

Bella didn't know what her husband could have wanted to talk about; she assumed maybe something came up at the hospital that they needed to deal with and not worry the kids about. They both got out of the car and walked over to a bench near the front of the hospital to sit down and chat.

Bella, a bit worried, says, "Did something happen in the hospital?" Hugo, is our son okay? What did the doctor tell you?"

Hugo says to reassure her, "He's fine; the doctor told me it's just gone."

Bella, a bit shocked by her hearing, was then overcome with joy and went to hug Hugo and said, "Honey, that's a miracle our son is well again." We can be a proper family again. Oh, wait, did the doctor say anything about his hair? Why did it turn pink?"

Hugo laughs a bit uncomfortably and says, "Well, I didn't really get the chance to because our son kind of kicked the man through a ceiling and almost knocked him out."

Bella sits stone-faced and says, "Wa… WHAT!!"

Hugo, putting his arms up in the air, says, "Now calm down, hun. I talked with the doctor, and I took Mochi and left. I didn't exactly get to figure out why his hair turned pink. Maybe we can take him back at a later time, just not right now. I didn't want to take any chances of that doctor changing his mind."

Bella, still a bit surprised at what she just heard, says, "Oh my goodness, Hugo, okay, so what you're telling me is that our son is well, and now he's strong enough to kick someone into the air." Don't you think we should look more into this? This just doesn't make any sense. Is it even safe for him to be around his sister right now?"

Hugo tries to calm down his wife by saying, "I'm sure there's nothing wrong with him; he's still our son no matter what may be going on with him, but right now let's not make him feel like there's something wrong with him; let's just be sure to treat him like we always treated him, and that reminds me of something else I wanted to talk to you about."

Bella just takes a deep breath to calm down and says, "You're right; I'm sorry." This is just a lot to handle. We go from our son being on his deathbed to being alive and well. "His hair is pink, and for some reason, he has the strength to kick a man straight into the ceiling."

Hugo stands up from the bench and says, "Yeah, I guess this family is just going to be a bit different, I guess," but that leads to what I wanted to tell you. You see, last night Mochi asked me something before I left the room. He told me that he wanted me to promise that he could go on a big adventure around the world like we did together. At that moment, I thought that I was going to be saying goodbye to my son, and I didn't want to hurt him after everything that he went through. Now that he's alive and well, he just asked me about it in the hospital, and now I feel like I should. I made a promise, and now I don't think I should just go back on it. I just wanted to tell you and ask how you felt about it all."

Bella at first gives her husband a pissed glare for even agreeing with the boy on something like that, but he could understand why he said yes and knew if it were her in that situation, she wouldn't want to crush her son's heart either. It was a difficult decision to think about.

The two sat in silence; she just stood up from the bench, took her husband's hands, and said, "You know, that does take me back, though remember when you told me why you left home? We were camping under the moon, and you had just opened up that night."

Hugo just holds his wife's hand, locking them together, and he says, "Yeah, back in my village, everyone was scared of what was out there—dinosaurs, talking animals, just terrified of anything that they didn't understand. I hated living like that, even though it ended with my parents disowning me. I wanted to see the world, and I'm glad I did; I got to meet you after all."

Bella then gives her husband a kiss on the cheek. "You leaving your home was the whole reason we met each other and got married. It still feels like yesterday, and I even had those two. I say let them have the chance to see what it's like out there. Not forever, of course, but I think it may do him some good. I don't think schools are opening anytime soon right now, so I'd say let them have the chance to see what it's like out there."

Hugo just nods and says he might even build his character and make some new friends along the way too. Now that we've settled that, let's get back to the car and tell them. I'm sure he'll be excited to hear it. Come on, let's head back to the car."

Bella and Hugo walk back to the car, holding hands with no regrets in their steps.

Mo-Mochi's adventure is about to begin.
