Chapter 57: A story
The next chapter starts with Mori and Superman standing in front of each other. After a brief pause, Superman says, "Well, 'just a guy,' thank you for the help, and sorry for not paying attention to my surroundings during the fight with Metallo." Mori waves it off casually, replying, "It would've been a problem if it was someone other than me, but since it was me, no worries, big man. Hahaha."
Superman nods, then asks, "What's your name?" Mori introduces himself but quickly shifts the conversation, "Mori, but enough about me. Everyone in this city seems to praise you, or at least look up to you. What's the deal with that?" Superman chuckles and explains, "I'm just a hero, doing what I must for the people."
Mori smirks, feeling the explanation was vague, but moves on, noting, "You're not human, are you? You feel different." Confused, as it's common knowledge, Superman confirms, "No, I'm Kryptonian. My race is extinct." Mori, intrigued, leads Superman to the roof of the Daily Planet, continuing his inquiry about Krypton. "So why are you here, on Earth?" Mori asks.
Superman pauses, recalling advice from Batman, and turns the conversation around, "Before I answer that, how come you don't know who I am?" Mori laughs, explaining, "I'm not from this dimension. Kind of crash-landed here."
Superman seems satisfied but presses further, "How did you sense I wasn't human? That's not something people can usually feel." Mori shrugs it off as "an ability I have." Superman nods and then asks, "Care to follow me to a more secluded space? Can you breathe in space?" Mori closes his eyes, sensing Superman's good intentions, then agrees, stating he has no issue breathing in space.
Superman flies toward the Watchtower, with Mori following. Upon arrival, Mori remarks, "This is kinda cool, not gonna lie." Superman opens the Watchtower's entrance, and they enter. After leading Mori to a waiting room, Superman excuses himself and says he'll be back shortly. Mori, growing bored, starts manipulating a small ki ball, forming and playing with it for several minutes until Superman returns, this time with Batman.
Mori, seeing Batman, quips, "Whoa, talk about depressing, yeah?" He snickers, and Superman introduces Batman. "This is Batman. He'll have a few questions too," Superman says. Mori sizes up Batman, noting his gloomy demeanor but then turns back to Superman, reminding him it's time for answers. Superman nods, and they begin.
Superman recounts the destruction of Krypton and how he was sent to Earth as a baby. Mori listens intently, then shares, "You remind me of my brother and the prince." Batman, intrigued, asks, "How so?" Mori explains the Saiyan race and their warrior nature, paralleling Superman's story with that of Goku, who was also sent to Earth as a baby before their planet's destruction by Frieza.
The conversation turns to Mori's past, as he describes his and Goku's journey, including battles against alien threats, tournaments, and their conflict with Frieza. He recounts how Goku died at one point and was brought back to life, leading to more adventures, including their off-planet travels to resurrect their friends.
Superman, confused, asks, "Wait, didn't you say Goku was killed? How was he fighting alongside you later?" Mori chuckles, "We brought the idiot back to life. Long story." He continues, detailing the climactic battle with Frieza, how Goku transformed and ultimately defeated him, and how they barely escaped the planet's destruction.
Batman listens carefully, absorbing all the information. Mori finishes by saying, "That was just one of our adventures. Things have only gotten crazier since then." Superman, fascinated, asks, "If you and Goku were strong enough to beat someone like Frieza, then how strong are you now?" Mori laughs, "Buddy, Frieza isn't even a threat anymore. Goku's second kid could wipe the floor with him 10 times over."
Both Batman and Superman are left stunned by the casual revelation, but before they can ask more, Mori stands up, stretching. "Man, I didn't even tell you about the fight that cost me my life. But, eh, don't sweat the small stuff." He waves them off as they leave the room.
After meditating for a while and getting a sense of the planet's energies, Mori grows bored again. Noticing Superman and Batman's nearby presence, he teleports to them, suddenly appearing and declaring, "I'm bored."
