Dragon Ball: Kayn's Story

Chapter 1: A new beginning

On Mount Frypan, which had been burning non-stop for over a decade, there were only three people left living at its foot.

The small family formed by the Ox King, his little daughter Chi-Chi and his teenage son Kayn.

...

Kayn was just another ordinary young man, still in his last year of high school, full of doubts about his future, but all of that was interrupted because of an accident that took his life.

It was a tragic death, but not the end of his story. After he died, he met with a deity who offered him the chance to live another life, in a fantasy world.

He could choose any world he knew, from ancient tales, to movies, cartoons and novels.

Kayn had taken some time, but he ended up choosing to go to an anime world, more specifically the world of Dragon Ball. The reasons for his choice were numerous, but mainly because of the Dragon Balls.

Being able to make wishes could make his new life as pleasant as possible, he could become immortal if he wanted and live however he wanted, he just needed to be strong enough to protect himself.

He obviously wished to be a Saiyan and have the absurd advantages of that race, but the deity did not allow it, the reason for this was not said.

Despite this, the deity told him that he could choose a special ability, as long as it was something reasonable. After a few denied requests, he finally had an ability accepted.

It was an ability he thought of based on the Saiyans' zenkai, but instead of increasing his power after healing from an injury, this ability would increase his strength as he pushed his body close to its limit.

In other words, as long as he trained hard, or pushed his fights to their limits, his strength would increase. Of course, he wouldn't have an increase as exponentially as that of zenkai, but it would be easier to obtain the effects of this ability.

And finally he would be reincarnated in the world of Dragon Ball, but instead of being sent as a complete unknown, he gained an entity in that world.

Kayn would be the eldest son of the Ox King, Chi-Chi's brother.

...

It was very early, Kayn woke up in his bed with a slight headache. 15 years of memories surfaced in his mind, although only the main events had surfaced in his mind, it was still a huge amount of information.

He could faintly remember his mother, who died just a few years after he was born, and he also remembered seeing Chi-Chi growing up practically next to him. Then the entire mountain was covered in flames, which made all the people happily leave that place.

He saw his father become increasingly oppressive, to the point where he began to kill all those who approached the mountain, for fear that they would seek his treasures.

His few years as a mountain prince were followed by another set of years being trained by his father, to the point where he himself began protecting Frypan Mountain from its invaders.

Although his size is much more similar to that of normal people than his father, his strength was always far above normal and even in his childhood he could already face adults, as soon as he reached his adolescence, his constitution was strong enough to survive gunshots.

In addition to his constant training with his father, he was constantly improving and could now take care of the mountain on his own, but fewer and fewer visitors were coming, which gave him more time to train and play with his sister.

They are only a little over two years apart, so they weren't that different and having basically only each other as friends made their relationship very strong.

Kayn placed his hand on his forehead 'My head...' He said internally, as he finally calmed down, after receiving a flood of information.

Although he hadn't lived through the 15 years of his life, his personality was basically the same, he just didn't have all the knowledge from his past life. So he didn't feel strange about the kind of life he had lived until now, which made him feel more at ease, since he wouldn't have to act in front of Chi-Chi or the Ox King.

When the pain passed, he walked to the mirror in his room. It was difficult to see his new appearance in his memories, so he wanted to see it in person.

Looking at himself in the mirror, he could see his youthful appearance, with straight black hair, short in length. Her face was beautiful, with a visible resemblance to Chi-Chi.

Despite still being 15 years old, his height was already close to 1.80 meters, and his body already had a very clear definition of muscles.

Kayn raised his arm and contracted his forearm, making his biceps stand out more. He looked at himself in the mirror, admiring his new body.

"How long are you going to stand there admiring yourself in the mirror?" A childish, laughing voice sounded from his blind spot.

He didn't even need to turn around to know who it was, but it was like an instinct to look in the girl's direction, as if he had been caught doing something wrong.

Looking at Chi-Chi's cute face, he wanted to make some excuse for this situation, but there was nothing that could explain it, so he just changed the topic "Why are you annoying me so early?"

His words came out naturally, after all, even if they were just memories that had just appeared in his mind, it didn't change the feeling of having lived alongside that little girl for his entire life.

Chi-Chi pouted at him, but quickly smiled again "Daddy sent me to get you, he said he's going to send us on an adventure!"

Hearing those words, both Kayn's original memories and new memories came together to come to a conclusion 'He's going to send us together to look for Master Roshi?'

He already knew that he was at a time close to the beginning of the story, in fact he was almost certain that he was sent on the day that Goku's group arrived at Frypan Mountain, so it was easy to assume that this adventure was actually the search for the old man.

He was just a little surprised by the fact that he would be sent along with Chi-Chi 'But thinking about it, it makes sense, after all he only sent Chi-Chi in the original due to lack of more people...'

His lingering thoughts were met with an angry expression from the girl "Are you deaf? You should go see daddy!" The girl's angry foot tap on the wooden floor was audible.

Kayn took a few steps, approaching the girl who was in front of the open door of his room, then controlling his strength he grabbed her soft cheek "You're being very rebellious, talking so aggressively to your older brother"

Feeling her cheek being pulled, the girl couldn't help but make a pained expression "Stop it!" She broke free from his grip.

"Alright, let's go see what he wants" Kayn said, giving a soft smile.

Chi-Chi was looking irritated and her cheeks were red, but she still agreed with her brother and then went ahead, as if guiding him.

Kayn had memories of the house and could deduce where the Ox King would be waiting. The house was not small, but it was not large either, so it only took a few seconds for them to reach their destination, the living room.

The large figure of the Ox King was sitting on the sofa that looked like an armchair to him. Although his size was not as abnormal as the anime made it seem, he was still an extremely tall person, standing over 2.50 meters tall with a very broad build.

Kayn looked at that man and thought 'Mom, I don't know how this worked, but you are a real warrior!'

He didn't have many memories of his mother, after all she died very young, however, he remembered her appearance and she was a woman of no more than 1.60 meters. Kayn couldn't help but think that it was surprising that she could handle a man of that size...

"Good morning, Kayn" The man's voice was deep, but with a touch of affection.

The young man scratched his head "Good morning, Dad. Chi-Chi said we're going on an adventure..." He gave a brief glance to the side, staring at the excited girl "What are we going to do?"

Kayn hadn't stopped to notice before, but Chi-Chi was already wearing that blue armor, which was her initial look in the anime. Since he had seen the anime, it seemed normal to see her wearing that, but from his memories, this was the first time she had worn that.

The Ox King took a good look at the two, giving them a proud look "You two have already grown so much, and I trust that you two can take care of each other. We need to deal with the flames on the mountain, and I recently received information about an item that can put out those flames"

Chi-Chi had already heard the whole story, but she still seemed excited by every word her father said.

"The person who has this item is my master, Muten Roshi, so there won't be any problems borrowing it... The only problem is that master moves frequently and I don't know where he is currently, and I can't leave the castle unguarded to go look for him. Therefore, the two of you must go together to look for him for me and bring that item back so we can put out the fire on the mountain!" The Ox King concluded his words.

He then threw a capsule towards Kayn, who caught it deftly, then said "I've prepared some things for your trip, so you can leave as soon as possible!" He seemed quite anxious, after all that fire had been tormenting him for a decade.

'Goku should still take a few hours to show up here, but it's still the quickest way to find the old man... However, I can't just say that I'll wait for someone to get here' Kayn thought as he stared at the capsule in his hand.

"Do you have any idea where he might be? It's going to be very complicated to look for him without any base" Kayn said acting.

The Ox King shook his head and rubbed his dark beard "The last time I saw him was over 10 years ago, and he was living on a certain island, but I know he's no longer there. You guys should look around for information, the master is quite famous, so it's likely that someone knows his whereabouts"

...

"Adventure! Adventure! Adventure!" Chi-Chi's voice sounded full of excitement as she skipped along beside Kayn.

The sun was clearly visible in the blue sky, it was still morning, but because of the burning mountain behind them, the weather was quite hot, however this did not bother either of them.

Kayn had changed his pajamas for the clothes he usually wore to train, which was basically his everyday outfit.

The outfit this time was a black short-sleeved shirt, which was very tight on his muscles, but was elastic enough not to hinder any movement, completely covering his legs were dark blue pants, with pockets on both sides, which he put his hands inside and on his feet were black shoes.

"We've been out of the house for more than ten minutes, how long are you going to keep jumping around?" Kayn asked in a monotone, but his expression had a slight tinge of happiness.

His new life was beginning and he had his cute little sister accompanying him, there was no reason to complain about the girl's euphoric behavior.

Author's Note: Well, I usually give up on things easily, but I'm going to try to write this fanfic. I think some warnings are important, so I hope you read this if you found this chapter interesting.

First, I'm using an automatic translator, so mistakes will probably come up often, but it's better than me writing in my own language and no one reading it. Second, I can't promise an exact frequency, but I'll try to write a chapter every 3 days, so expect only 2 chapters per week.

Third, even though I haven't decided everything yet, I intend to make a small harem, nothing like getting all the girls from the anime for the protagonist, but it will still be a harem, with some known characters and maybe some original ones. In addition to that, I want to say that I will write 18+ scenes in the future, but only when it is allowed, after all the protagonist is currently 15 years old, I will wait for his maturity to arrive.

I think that's what I had to say, I accept opinions and criticism, but remember that I'm doing this without any pretension. Now I'm going to try to put any generic caps to get attention.
