Chapter 44: The Black Hand
After some casual chatting, Broly closed the group chat and went to sleep. It had been a long, exhausting day filled with intense events.
And so, time passed slowly.
Five Days Later
Time flew by in the blink of an eye. During those days, nothing particularly significant happened; everything was peaceful. However, on the third day, Broly faced Frieza once again.
This time, his goal was to indirectly learn new skills, but Frieza, clearly more cautious, refrained from showing any new abilities, frustrating Broly.
To be fair, Frieza's base power was nothing extraordinary compared to today's standards. At best, his strength was equivalent to Goku or Vegeta during their prime in the Namek saga, barely enough to stand out in the broader galactic scale.
That is, disregarding solar system-level powers, which were now insignificant.
What was once terrifying and overwhelming had become nothing more than a shadow of its former glory.
Of course, Frieza was no match for Broly, whose base power effortlessly surpassed the limits of a Super Saiyan.
Considering Saiyan Transformations:
Super Saiyan 1 multiplies the base power by 50.
Super Saiyan 2 boosts it to 100 times.
Super Saiyan 3 reaches a multiplier of 400 times.
When Vegeta fought Broly in his base form, he didn't hesitate to transform straight into Super Saiyan God, which says a lot about the disparity. In other words, Broly in his base form could already match—or even surpass—the level of a Super Saiyan 3.
This placed his base power at least 400 times the galactic standard. And that was before the Tournament of Power.
Since the events of the Broly movie occur after the Tournament of Power, it's reasonable to assume that both Goku and Vegeta had improved significantly.
Though it's unclear how much, any progress in their abilities would undoubtedly be remarkable.
Returning to Frieza, his base form remained insignificant compared to Broly. Of course, this didn't include his Golden Frieza transformation. This form, similar to Super Saiyan God, doesn't have a defined numeric boost but clearly surpasses previous levels by a wide margin.
Even when compared to Super Saiyan Blue, which is 50 times stronger than Super Saiyan God, the gap is monumental.
A Super Saiyan God alone had enough power to destroy a universe in three strikes; imagine what Super Saiyan Blue could do.
Although numbers lose meaning at universal levels, the idea of reducing the number of strikes needed to destroy a universe speaks volumes about such immense power.
Frieza, despite everything, was a genius.
In just four months, he had reached a level that took Goku and Vegeta years to achieve. At first, he could rival Super Saiyan Blue, but his progress eventually stagnated, leaving him barely able to keep up.
However, Frieza wasn't an opponent Broly could entirely underestimate. In his current state, enraged, Broly could likely surpass Super Saiyan God and challenge Blue, though he still lacked full mastery of the Super Saiyan form. To defeat Blue in its initial state, Broly would need to rely on that transformation; in his base form, it wasn't feasible.
Given that a universe is infinitely larger than a galaxy, the difference in power isn't just numerical—it's conceptual. Even the weakest being at a universal level could easily crush a galactic-level foe.
But Broly had one key advantage: his ability to grow stronger during battle. Each fight with Frieza had made him exponentially more powerful.
After just two confrontations, he was already at a much higher level than when he had first regained his memories. If he could demonstrate his progress, he might even terrify Frieza to the point of forcing him into his Black Form.
What could be said?
Broly's talent was monstrous.
In the Group Chat
Not much had happened over those five days.
The other group members continued to gradually improve their powers, but no significant events were reported. Most of their attention remained on Jackie Chan's adventures and the challenges surrounding him.
The development of events was fairly straightforward. Following Broly and the group's advice, Jackie had moved Uncle and Jade away from the antique shop to avoid trouble.
However, the relocation wasn't without its inconveniences. The process involved lengthy explanations and discussions, making it a rather tedious experience.
Still, Jackie assured them that no one had followed them.
To be cautious, he decided to stay at a hotel near the antique shop, where he could keep a close eye on it.
Broly noticed that deep down, Jackie still held onto a small hope: maybe the Black Hand wouldn't appear, maybe the problems would simply fade away, or maybe the memories Chu had shared were false.
But as always, destiny had other plans.
The Black Hand appeared, just as predicted, and they did so directly at the antique shop.
Without any concern for bystanders or the noise they were making, they kicked down the locked door and began ransacking the place. The sound of crashing echoed nonstop, and with each thud, Jackie's heart raced faster.
The Black Hand members searched every corner, but, as expected, they found nothing.
When the looting ended, one of them pulled out a phone, made a quick call, and left in a hurry.
Jackie, still shaken, took the opportunity to ask the group if maybe they had given up. However, Broly and the others quickly brought him back to reality with a clear response: Not a chance!
The idea of Valmont, the leader of the Black Hand, giving up was absurd.
According to the group members, the most likely scenario was that the criminals were contacting someone else to track down Jackie, his Uncle, and Jade.
This left Jackie visibly unsettled. However, with the group's support and encouraging words, he managed to regain his confidence.
He realized he couldn't just sit around. He needed to start searching for the talismans, even if it meant getting further involved in a dangerous adventure.
He knew that if the talismans fell into the Black Hand's grasp, they would be used for dark purposes, effectively handing them over to a demon.
And if a demon managed to collect all 12 talismans, the entire world would be in grave danger.
Despite not seeing himself as a hero, Jackie knew he couldn't ignore what was happening.
By the end, his mindset had changed drastically.
