Chapter 138: Chapter 137: Be Cautious
"That's right."
"Right?!" Jaco exclaimed in surprise. "Jiora is someone who applies every year to join our Galactic Patrol, he's a very impressive guy. How do you know him?"
Tights laughed. "Didn't we meet the real Galactic Patrol elite, Jaco?"
"..." Jaco suddenly understood. "That makes sense."
Yamiru couldn't stand it any longer and explained to Jaco. He told him about the alien police officer he had met over a year ago, who had accidentally arrived on Earth while capturing a criminal. Jiora, in order to exchange energy to return home, had lent his spacecraft to Dr. Brief for research.
"In the end, it's actually very similar to your question... even the solution and the people who helped solve the problem are the same," Yamiru concluded with a hint of sarcasm. "It almost feels like the Brief family is the only rich family on Earth."
Tights added, "But there probably aren't many people who are both genius scientists and super-rich, right?"
Yamiru: "True!"
"Anyway," Tights summarized, "that's pretty much the situation. He came to your dad because he wanted to sell technology in exchange for energy. Before, when Jaco collided with the moon, part of the spacecraft got damaged, and we had a lot of trouble fixing it."
"Are you talking about the engine that was repaired?"
At this point, Bulma's voice came from another direction, and everyone noticed she had somehow gone over to the spacecraft and was inspecting it. She walked over, speaking in a slightly childish tone. "That's not the energy source! It should just be a special device to store energy in metal lithium, so even if it's broken, it can still operate for a while. I think any metal with similar thermal conductivity could temporarily replace it. Let me think... a metal like... copper?"
"Copper?!"
Tights and Dr. Omori couldn't quite believe it. If it's copper, it wouldn't cost much at all!
"I also saw that the antenna on top of the spacecraft was broken," Bulma asked. "Is it for communication?"
"Ah... yes," Jaco's attitude had unexpectedly become much more serious.
"The break is very neat, and none of the precision parts are missing. So I guess it must have completely fallen off. You mentioned earlier that you crashed into the moon," Bulma speculated. "Could the broken antenna have fallen on the moon? That would be a problem."
Jaco denied it, "That antenna was still intact when I landed on Earth! It was only when I crashed into a shed on Omori's island that it went missing..." As he spoke, he suddenly froze, exchanging a surprised look with Dr. Omori. Together, they exclaimed, "Ah! It must have fallen around the shed on the island!"
Bulma looked up at Tights, asking, "Are they idiots?"
"The energy problem is solved, and now the communication issue is almost fixed, this is good," Jaco said happily. "Omori, let's head back to the island and look for the antenna!"
Yamiru, smiling, pointed his thumb at the boy, who was climbing all over Son Gohan, saying, "Aren't you going to watch this guy?"
"..." Jaco replied, "Based on what we know, before the full moon two nights from now, he won't cause any more damage. So, it's fine."
Tights remarked, "Such a stubborn alien."
Dr. Omori agreed, "Indeed."
Jaco remained unmoved and repeated, "You won't think that way when the time comes."
Soon, Jaco and Dr. Omori flew back to the island to search for the broken antenna.
Meanwhile, at Paozu Mountain, Dr. Brief and his wife, along with Yamiru, Son Gohan, and Tights, headed toward the circular crater where the Saiyan boy's spacecraft had landed.
"Ah, it's so big, so deep."
At the edge of the circular crater, Bulma voiced her opinion, standing at the edge and looking down. At the very center of the deepest part, there was indeed a spherical white object.
Dr. Brief was also looking, "Surprisingly compact."
Yamiru added, "It should also contain a life support system; otherwise, such a child would be unable to make long-distance interstellar journeys."
Tights commented, "That makes sense, nice design." She was planning to become a science fiction writer.
Dr. Brief didn't intend to go down, and Bulma going down would be risky if she fell. He called a robotic servant to go down into the crater and lift the spherical spacecraft with its mechanical arm. With a smooth motion, it climbed up the slanted wall of the crater and placed the spacecraft in front of everyone.
"Indeed, it's quite exquisite," Tights crouched down to take a closer look, having not observed it thoroughly before.
Bulma, unable to contain her curiosity, squeezed herself through the already open hatch and sat on the soft seat where the boy with the monkey tail had curled up for a long time. She looked around in wonder.
Dr. Brief patted the hull and remarked, "Just the excellent material technology alone is of immense value..."
He asked his daughter to come out, then called the robotic servant to move the spherical spacecraft into their original vehicle.
They began walking back.
Along the way, Yamiru suddenly remembered something and reminded, "By the way, Doctor, about the communication device in the spherical spacecraft..." He recalled that Bulma had communicated effortlessly with Earth while on Namek, which was how they learned that Son Goku had rushed to the Namek battlefield. He realized that Earth's communication technology was not necessarily outdated. "...If it's not absolutely necessary, it's better to destroy it."
"Oh? Why is that?" Dr. Brief was surprised.
"Well..." Yamiru saw that the people present were either not outsiders or were all either absent-minded or unbothered—more like a family who handled things calmly—so he decided to speak plainly. "The terrifying entity that destroyed this child's homeland is also the supplier of this spherical spacecraft's technology. I strongly suspect that they might have left a listening backdoor in the communication system. It wouldn't matter much if this spacecraft were abandoned in the wilderness, but if we bring it to your lab for research, it's safer to destroy the communication part."
Tights tilted her head, looking at Yamiru's profile as he spoke.
Son Gohan, meanwhile, was looking at the mischievous little boy playing with the round cap on his head, occasionally pulling at it. The boy didn't respond at all to Yamiru's words, clearly still unable to grasp language or even comprehend commands.
"Ah, that's fine," Dr. Brief smiled. "You sound cautious, so I'll have it removed and destroyed."
Bulma looked up and asked, "What do you mean by 'terrifying entity'? How terrifying is it?"
Yamiru thought for a moment and pictured Frieza's image in his mind.
Just thinking about the number "one hundred and twenty million" would be enough to send a chill down anyone's spine.
"It's very terrifying," he said with a strained smile, "extremely terrifying."
---
Back at the small house, the spherical spacecraft had already been moved into the vehicle by the robotic servant, and Dr. Brief planned to return to West City.
"I'll stay," Little Bulma said. "I want to know what's going to happen in two days when the moon is full."
Tights smiled. "Are you curious too?"
"Of course."
"So exciting, huh..." Yamiru thought about the chaotic scene when Son Goku transforms two days later. "Hope you don't get scared to death by it..."
Bulma glanced back at the small house, "But it's so small and shabby, I don't want to stay here."
"Typical rich girl!" Yamiru thought to himself. "But it really wouldn't be suitable for a beautiful, delicate girl to stay in such an environment." He then looked at Tights. Tights gave him a questioning look, which somehow resembled the expression Yamiru had made when replying to Jaco earlier.
"This is easy," Dr. Brief casually said, "I'll come back after I get home and bring a Castle with me. Hmm... There's plenty of space here, I think an X-model capsule Castle should fit."
Such wealth! Yamiru was in awe. This family could carry several Castles with them wherever they went.
