Chapter 30: Guided by Instincts! Blood-Red Fruit
"It's now certain that we must be deep within a very primitive forest because of the presence of these enormous beasts. This area is clearly unsuitable for the Ouyuns to settle."
Based on the information he had gathered, Talot began to analyze.
"We know nothing about Planet Ouyun. The fact that the Ouyuns dare not compete with these giant beasts for living space suggests that these beasts are even more dangerous than the Ouyuns." Previous intelligence could be disregarded; now they had to rely on their own discoveries, bit by bit.
"Hmm, while it's still unclear whether the Ouyuns are as described in the intel, we've flown such a long distance without encountering a single one, which leaves two possibilities.
"One, there are no Ouyuns in this forest, or even on this continent! Two, perhaps the Ouyuns, like us Saiyans, live in groups somewhere on the planet, and the rest of the territory belongs to these giant beasts."
Talot continued.
He finally understood why this invasion mission required the elimination of all species that can be threatening, not just the Ouyuns.
The real problem was these enormous beasts.
Gine nodded and added her own observation, "Maybe we've just seen too little of the area, and since we were in the air, flying at high speed, there are many densely wooded areas that even the scouter couldn't scan all at once. Or perhaps, if we go further, we might reach the edge of the forest, and the world beyond could be completely different."
Talot agreed with Gine's perspective.
After all, any intelligent life form is completely different from beasts.
"Let's not worry about the Ouyuns for now. I'm more curious about what's happening here. Aunt Gine, Salari, be careful; I'm going over there to take a look," Talot said.
So many giant beasts fighting for no apparent reason—there had to be a reason!
In such a primitive world, it was either a fight for territory or a conflict between two opposing forces.
But since the beasts were of different species and there was no obvious leader, there was another possibility, as Gine had just speculated—they might be fighting over something.
"Talot, maybe it's better not to take the risk," Gine advised subconsciously, given that they had just arrived on this planet and were already facing such a situation.
"It's fine. Even if these beasts have power levels of two or three hundred, they can't hurt me. And Aunt Gine, don't forget, my power level is 1300! These beasts may be huge, but their power levels aren't high compared to mine." With those words, Talot was about to take action when Salari, who had been observing closely, noticed something.
"Brother Talot, Aunt Gine, look over there—next to that giant snake and the terror beast, there's a strange tree," Salari pointed out, drawing Talot and Gine's attention in that direction.
They had been so focused on the battle that they hadn't noticed the area filled with corpses on the other side.
Amid the bloodied corpses, a hundred-meter-long white snake and a several-dozen-meter-tall terror beast were killing any approaching beasts.
A bit further away from them stood a fruit tree, not particularly large.
In this bloody battlefield, where the forest had been torn apart, the tree remained untouched, not even stained with blood.
"Are those two beasts protecting that tree?"
The tree bore some peculiar blood-red fruits that shimmered under the sunlight.
Could it be something valuable?
A treasure?
Various thoughts flashed through their minds.
The world is vast and full of wonders.
The fruit that can make beasts fight over it must not be ordinary.
"Those fruits on the tree must be the reason for this battle," Talot said, and in the next instant, he shot forward.
Gine couldn't say anything in time, and Salari, staying close to her, only managed to call out, "Be careful, Brother Talot."
…
As Talot descended from the sky, getting closer, more thoughts filled his mind.
Though he was thoroughly familiar with the plot of the Dragon Ball world, in reality, he didn't truly understand this world.
For example, he knew nothing about this planet.
Even when it came to Earth and Planet Vegeta, it seemed like he knew and understood them, but in reality, he was unaware of anything beyond the original storyline.
When it came down to it, his understanding of this world was only superficial.
"This fruit is definitely strange; it's even drawing me towards it, with my body instinctively wanting to eat it."
Startled, Talot quickly reached the top of the fruit tree.
The blood-red fruits, visible to the naked eye, were actually absorbing the blood aura around them, nourishing themselves and making the fruits even more plump.
If it weren't for the fact that there was no aura present and the scouter didn't detect anything, Talot would have suspected that this tree had developed sentience and was alive.
[Is it absorbing life energy? So, are you the one controlling these beasts to kill each other to nourish yourself? Or is it your allure that compels these beasts to fight to obtain you?]Talot speculated as he continued to approach.
At that moment, a vague memory surfaced in his mind.
The Tree of Might!
Although compared to the Tree of Might, this tree was insignificant and not worth mentioning, they were indeed very similar.
Both absorbed life energy, but while the Tree of Might absorbed the nutrients of an entire planet, this tree only absorbed the life energy of these beasts.
"If it's like the Fruit of the Tree of Might, then this blood-red fruit might also enhance one's strength," Talot's heart began to race.
If that were the case, it would undoubtedly be a treasure.
However, he knew he needed to be even more cautious.
As he drew closer, with all his attention focused on the blood-red fruits, suddenly, two roars erupted, creating a massive disturbance that whipped up a howling wind, forcing Talot to halt.
"Earlier, because I was too small a target, you didn't notice me. But now, you've finally noticed, huh?" Talot murmured, looking at the giant snake and terror beast, while the scouter automatically detected their power levels.
Giant Snake: 390.
Terror Beast: 380.
With power levels below 400, aside from their enormous size and intimidating presence, they posed no real threat to him.
At this moment, the scene was particularly terrifying.
Talot, a five-year-old child, barely 1.3 meters tall, looked like an ant compared to the giant snake and terror beast.
Ordinarily, Talot should have been frightened.
But instead of feeling any fear, he felt a bit excited.
Perhaps it was the Saiyan's inherent battle-loving genes that made him fearless.
Of course, that alone wouldn't be enough; it was also his strength of 1300 power level that gave Talot confidence.
