Chapter 9: Chapter 9

"Don't worry about that, Vados."

"I'm well aware of Beerus's habits. He's been asleep for decades—there's no way he's waking up anytime soon!"

Champa pouted and spoke with absolute confidence.

As Beerus's archrival, Champa naturally understood Beerus's tendencies well.

It was no secret among the Gods of Destruction across the universes that Beerus was lethargic.

In fact, millions of years ago, when Zeno held a universe-wide hide-and-seek competition, all the other Gods of Destruction eagerly participated in the game. But Beerus simply hid and slept for over fifty years!

The result? Zeno was furious and nearly wiped out all twelve remaining universes in a fit of rage.

Fortunately, the Grand Priest intervened and managed to calm Zeno, averting a catastrophe.

Nevertheless, the other Gods of Destruction were enraged with Beerus.

That incident only highlighted how absurdly lazy Beerus could be.

"That's not necessarily the case, Lord Champa!"

"Even if Beerus doesn't wake up, Whis is still in the Seventh Universe.

Even though I've used Angel power to conceal us, it's only a matter of time before Whis senses something!"

Vados frowned slightly, her expression tinged with displeasure.

Unlike Champa, she wasn't fond of unnecessary trouble.

Her goal was simple: collect the Super Dragon Balls and enjoy top-tier food.

If discovered, that plan would be ruined.

After all, Angels possess vast observational powers across the universe.

While she could temporarily shield their presence, there was always the risk of being detected again.

"Whoosh!"

At this moment, Katakana finally located the source of the divine auras.

"It's actually them?"

"Why didn't they stay in the Sixth Universe? Why have they suddenly come to the Seventh Universe?"

Hiding in a place where they wouldn't easily notice him, Katakana carefully observed their identities.

It was none other than Champa, the God of Destruction from the Sixth Universe, and Vados, the Angel accompanying him.

Katakana couldn't understand why they had appeared in the Seventh Universe.

"Super Dragon Balls?"

Noticing the enormous Super Dragon Ball behind Champa, Katakana quickly pieced it together.

It seemed that Champa and Vados had come to steal the Super Dragon Balls.

This event had indeed been mentioned in the original Dragon Ball story, but it hadn't crossed Katakana's mind until now.

---

"We need to leave now, Lord Champa!"

Seeing that Champa was still standing there without any intention of leaving, Vados urged him.

"Hmph!"

"Vados, it seems we'll have to deal with a little pest before we go!"

Champa's gaze suddenly shifted toward the meteorite where Katakana was hiding.

"Hey! mouse from the Seventh Universe, did you really think you could hide from a cat?"

The moment he finished speaking, Champa's body shot forward.

Clenching his fist, he shattered the meteorite where Katakana was hiding.

The force of the blow sent Katakana flying back more than ten meters.

Katakana hadn't expected Champa to cover such a long distance in an instant.

"Ah... I was hoping to stay hidden, but it looks like trouble's found me again!"

Vados sighed softly.

She had noticed Katakana earlier but chose not to alert Champa, hoping to avoid conflict.

However, she hadn't expected Champa to discover him anyway.

Now, this Mortal was likely in danger.

"Hiding like a sneaky mouse, are you?"

Champa squinted, a sinister glint in his eyes as he glared at Katakana.

"Tell me, why are you here? And who sent you?"

Champa's tone turned icy, his words laced with threat.

It was clear that if Katakana's answer displeased him, Champa wouldn't hesitate to eliminate him.

Such actions were nothing new for Champa.

To him, killing a mere Mortal was trivial and would draw no consequences.

"Me?"

"If I said I was just passing by and accidentally bumped into you, would you believe me?"

Katakana shook his head with a wry smile.

Judging by Champa's demeanor, it was clear he had no intention of letting Katakana go.

Nonetheless, Katakana's response was calm and composed, neither submissive nor arrogant.

Even though the other party was a powerful God of Destruction, Katakana saw no reason to grovel.

"Tch!"

"Just a Mortal mouse, daring to speak to a God of Destruction like that."

"It seems the Mortal's of the Seventh Universe are as insolent as that skinny Beerus!"

Champa's face darkened at Katakana's tone.

It was a blatant display of disrespect.

Moreover, this Mortal had been spying on him and Vados while they collected the Super Dragon Ball.

Now, regardless of who this person was, Champa had only one thought—get rid of him.

"Lord Champa, there's no need to waste time on an ordinary person!"

"Our priority should be bringing the Super Dragon Ball back to the Sixth Universe."

Vados, who found the boy oddly pleasing, tried to dissuade Champa.

"Vados, you just said he's an ordinary Mortal. It's bad enough that that skinny Beerus doesn't take me seriously."

"Now even a Mortal dares to talk to me like this? How can I endure that?"

"Don't worry. Dealing with a Mortal mouse will only take a moment!"

A sinister gleam appeared in Champa's eyes as he raised his arm, gathering energy for an attack aimed directly at Katakana.

"A sneak attack... won't work on me!"

Katakana's expression turned serious. Facing the incoming energy blast, he raised his hand and blocked it head-on.
