Chapter 35: 35: Finally, Magic!
"Well, now that you're awake and I've solved the pink problem from a few minutes ago, let's get down to business," Bulma said, wiping her hands with a handkerchief.
Monster Carrot looked at Bulma with a small grin, then looked around, noticing how rustic the place was, he was probably in a basement or some abandoned place.
"You seem to want something from me, my business? My contacts? The areas where I operate? Or as the kid with the tail said, my magic?" the rabbit began to ask with a confident tone.
He was a gangster, no, a mobster, although he gave himself that title, and in reality, it was his group, it was just him and two henchmen, he had gained a certain reputation because of his magical abilities, especially the one to turn living creatures into carrots.
He had been ambushed and captured many times, but his magical ability was not only that of turning living creatures into delicious carrots. No, he had another spell, he just had to wait until his head stopped hurting before he cast it.
"Let's get to know each other a little better, Mr. Rabbit," Bulma replied, pulling out a chair and sitting down in front of Monster Carrot, looking him straight in the eye.
"I'm curious, how is someone with your skills a small-time criminal?" Bulma's question seemed to push a certain button inside Monster Carrot, who was visibly angry at this point.
"Small time? I am the great Monster Carrot! Godfather of the 'Rabbit' family! And great gangster of the desert!" Monster Carrot shouted, causing Bulma to raise an eyebrow, but the sound of restrained laughter came from behind.
"Hahahahahaha! A crime family of three!" Oolong burst out laughing as he realized that it was useless to try to keep from laughing.
That rabbit was too funny! Oolong wiped away the tears that fell from his eyes from laughing so hard. When he calmed down, he noticed that everyone in the place was staring at him, causing him to lower his head in embarrassment.
"Yeah... well, I don't care about what you are, what you do, or what you have. I'm only interested in one thing about you, you should know that by now," Bulma said, pulling her body a little closer to the big rabbit's face.
"You said you were a wizard, that you could cast spells," Bulma finally said the key point as to why all this had happened, and the rabbit's eyes widened in surprise as it finally dawned on him.
It was obvious that this young woman had no fear for his identity or what he represented, she only cared about the fact that he could do magic, nothing more, nothing less.
Earlier, he had thought that she was only mildly interested in his ability, but seeing the unbridled desire in the blue eyes of the young girl before him, he could tell that it was because of that desire that he was imprisoned here.
In his boast, he had mentioned his most important ability, it wasn't the fact that he could turn others into carrots, but the fact that he had access to the power of magic, and just as the blue-haired girl received confirmation from him, he fell unconscious.
"You are... the first person to notice this detail and decide to act on it," Monster Carrot's expression became visibly grim, knowing that she was in a rather delicate situation at the moment.
"Do you want my magic? Do you just want my magic to make pantyhose and vegetables?" the rabbit asked, and although his questions might have seemed silly or teasing, the seriousness on Monster Carrot's face did not disappear.
"Uh... no, not for pantyhose or vegetables," Bulma replied, looking angrily at Oolong, who shrugged his shoulders in fear.
"What do you think magic is?" asked Monster Carrot finally, his mind now clear enough to cast a spell that would surely free him, but he wanted to know exactly what this young girl thought about magic.
"Simply put, magic is the ability to use your energy to create certain phenomena," Bulma said what she thought was magic, causing Monster Carrot to shake his head visibly.
"NO! Magic... even though I'm a joke of a wizard, I can see that your view of magic is too structured, too scientific. You don't take into account that although magic is generally based on energy, it's not what it can do, but what you think it can do," Monster Carrot replied before his hands glowed orange.
"Especially this spell! Materialization!" the rabbit shouted, creating a classic cannon in front of him, with the fuse already lit.
"Die!" he shouted, and the cannon went off, but Bulma just raised her hand.
The iron ball hit Bulma's hand and she barely had to bend her limb, the girl looking rather bored by this development. Bulma pressed both of her hands into the metal ball, and in front of Monster Carrot's astonished eyes, the cannonball was crushed into a thin disc.
"How!? I don't see any martial arts training in you!" said Monster Carrot with some despair, doubting his experience in judging people.
"I take too much care of myself, my mother doesn't want me to be full of muscles, she says it would ruin my image and leave me single," Bulma answered truthfully before putting the metal in her hand aside and looking intently at the cannon in front of her.
"Fascinating, I thought you were only into turning others into carrots, at least you're not a complete joke and you've only increased my interest in magic," Bulma said, never thinking that Monster Carrot would resemble a videogame version of him that could also use this particular spell.
"I don't care about the vision or that it's magic, it's not like I'm going to get into it much, I'm like you say, too 'scientific' for the weirdness of magic, though maybe..." Bulma continued, looking at her three friends, if there was anyone who could become remarkable in magic, it was among them.
But for now, she ruled out Goku, even though it would be fun to see him create carrots for fun, Goku probably wouldn't benefit from being a wizard, he liked to fight more directly.
Oolong's ability to transform was surprisingly not magic, but rather an application of psychic powers derived from Ki, so it could be said that his talent was more related to that area than to magic per se.
Then there was Chi-Chi, maybe she had the talent and inclination to become a witch, after all, what Bulma wanted to learn most was Magical Materialization and not to delve too much into the magical aspect.
She had the pure Ki and affinity to nature that she possessed, why add another great branch of study? Her desire to learn Magical Materialization was to broaden her horizons, and it also had something to do with her ability to 'create' natural resources from which she wanted to draw inspiration.
"So you want me to teach you magic? No way, I would never let a person like you learn magic! First, you knock me out, and then you keep me tied up here, how do you think...?" Monster Carrot suddenly fell silent and stared in awe at the orb of Ki floating in Bulma's hand.
Although he couldn't feel the energy, he knew it was because Ki was also the fuel for his spells and his ability to turn others into carrots.
Only experienced artists, usually older ones, could do what Bulma was doing, which made the Monster Carrot sweat. Had he met a hidden master?
No, she looked too young, and she looked like a teenager if you paid attention to her words, so .... Did she have a powerful master? Only a great master could train a young girl like Bulma.
Then he watched as Bulma controlled the Ki Ball, unusually slowly for a martial artist, but very vividly for Monster Carrot. He watched as the energy twisted into a small dagger that floated in Bulma's palm.
"I just want access to the great path of magic, why do you refuse? You see, I learned from a friend who works in law enforcement that some criminals resist interrogation, so sometimes certain means are used.
So he told me in detail what kind of things they do to those criminals to get some important information out of them. You are a criminal, right? Would you like to try some of these methods?" Bulma gave Monster Carrot a crazed and excited look.
She brought her Ki Dagger close to the rabbit's face, cutting off some of his hair due to the sharpness of the weapon. Monster Carrot shuddered as several strands of his very manicured white hair fell to the ground.
"Okay! I'll give you what you want, just let me go!" Monster Carrot was scared, he saw the madness in those eyes and he did not want to fall victim to a madman, but he soon realized that he had been tricked when Bulma suddenly burst out laughing along with the rest of the young people present.
"Hahahahahaha! You already promised, wow, I never thought someone would fall for that trick," Goku remarked, his tail wagging constantly as he clutched his stomach from laughing.
"Bulma's not much of an actress, but it looks like Mr. Rabbit still hasn't recovered from that blow to the head," Chi-Chi said, covering her mouth with one hand to hide her smile.
"Ah, probably, though there was no crunch this time," Oolong said, touching his head as a chill ran down his spine, he didn't want to experience that feeling again.
"You tricked me!" the rabbit shouted, but the others ignored him for a while until Bulma stopped before looking at Monster Carrot.
"Yes, I'm not a crazy psycho, although the story I told you is real, I have a friend in law enforcement, but the torture thing is fake," Bulma used the energy dagger to cut the objects that held the rabbit captive.
"But if you try to hurt anyone, run away, or avoid keeping your promise, I'll cut you," Bulma pointed the ki dagger at Monster Carrot, scaring the rabbit.
"Fine, fine, you better learn on your own," Monster Carrot said before pulling a carrot out of his pocket.
Bulma had searched it earlier and found no weapons except some carrots, so she left it alone. Then the carrot exploded into smoke, revealing a thick book in Monster Carrot's hands.
"Aren't you only supposed to be able to turn people into carrots?" asked Chi-Chi, and a mischievous grin broke out on Monster Carrot's face.
"Girl, you don't know what a 'person' can be," Monster Carrot said ominously, causing the atmosphere to become eerie.
"Chi-Chi... this book has life breath," Goku pointed out, causing Chi-Chi to focus his Ki sense on the book and realize that there was indeed a pulse of life in it.
"I don't know who it is, it's been asleep since I stole it from my master... but I can tell it has 'life' and it can fall under my carrot transformation spell," Monster Carrot said, reluctantly handing the book to Bulma.
"Now let me go, I will never come back to this place, no, your little territory, I will stay away from your territory," said Monster Carrot, not noticing the big red stick that fell back on his head.
"Now, as we planned, I'll send him to the moon," Goku said, grabbing the unconscious Monster Rabbit by the neck.
"I don't know why you want to send him to the moon," Oolong complained, and Goku gave him a vague smile before replying.
"There are stories that say there is a rabbit on the moon, and even though I know that's not true, wouldn't it be nice to make those stories true?" Goku's words made Oolong look at the poor monster carrot with pity.
"Well, I would also like to make it true that there is a rabbit on the moon," Oolong finally said, sealing Monster Carrot's fate.
"How whimsical," muttered Bulma, who had already noticed this detail, but Goku was quite whimsical sometimes.
She just hoped that he wouldn't be like that at important times, but knowing him, he probably would be, because capriciousness was something that defined Goku as a person.
