Douluo:Heaven’s Rejected Monarch

Chapter 6: The Martial Soul Awakening

The morning air was still, the quiet stretching over the Fang estate like an unseen force. Fang Yuan walked through the stone corridors, his steps steady. The scent of incense clung to the air as he reached his grandfather's private chamber. The doors creaked open as he stepped inside.

Fang Jinhai sat in the center of the room, his long silver hair falling over his shoulders. His presence was calm, but something in his eyes gleamed with anticipation. Fang Tianhong stood near the doorway, arms crossed, his blood-red eyes unreadable.

"You do not need to go to the Spirit Pagoda," Jinhai said, his voice measured. "I will awaken your Martial Soul myself."

Fang Yuan met his gaze. "Why?"

His grandfather chuckled softly, tapping his cane against the floor. "Because our bloodline is different. Your awakening must be done in private. You will understand soon."

Fang Yuan did not argue. He simply nodded.

"Sit," Jinhai commanded. "Close your eyes."

Fang Yuan settled onto the floor, inhaling deeply. The moment his grandfather's energy flowed into him, something deep within his soul stirred.

At first, it was a whisper. Then, a roar.

A force that had been buried within him for six years awoke. It did not rise gently. It tore free.

His right hand burned.

Darkness wrapped around his fingers like living shadows, twisting and folding into something solid. The weight in his palm was unlike anything he had ever felt. Heavy. Overwhelming. Alive.

When he opened his eyes, the room shook.

A black blade rested in his grip, its surface pulsing with a dark glow. It was long and cruel, edged with a power that seemed to hum with destruction. Strange ancient text ran along the blade, glowing with deep crimson light.

Through Heaven and Earth, I Alone Am the Honored One.

The words burned against the steel, carrying an aura that crushed the air itself.

Fang Tianhong took a step forward, eyes widening slightly. The suppression of the blade was suffocating, pressing against his chest like an unseen force.

Fang Jinhai trembled, his lips parting in something between awe and madness. His fingers twitched on his cane, his voice filled with something raw.

"It has returned…" he whispered, his grin stretching. "The Heavenly Demonic Blade… after all these generations… it has finally returned!"

The pressure in the room was unbearable, but Fang Yuan barely noticed.

Because something else was happening.

His mind… was changing.

It was not just his Martial Soul that had awakened.

His brain burned, information pouring into him like a flood. It was not knowledge from this world. It was something beyond human comprehension, things that should not be known, things that had never been written.

Symbols. Equations. Concepts that defied existence itself.

His thoughts became erratic. No, not erratic—chaotic.

The moment his consciousness expanded, the second his mind stretched beyond its limits, something else awoke.

A sharp, searing pain shot through his skull.

His left eye shifted.

The world around him trembled as a golden glow erupted from his iris. Ancient text wove itself into his pupil, moving and shifting, symbols forming and breaking apart endlessly.

The room warped.

The wooden floor cracked. The air bent. Time itself seemed to hesitate, as if struggling under something it could not understand.

Fang Tianhong and Fang Jinhai felt it instantly.

They had known fear before. They had stood before great warriors, had sensed the presence of gods. But this…

This was different.

Fang Yuan's left eye was not power. It was above power.

A force that watched over the world, distant and untouched.

Jinhai's breath hitched. "What… is that eye…?"

Fang Tianhong did not answer. His entire body felt cold, as if something beyond this reality had set its gaze upon them.

The space around Fang Yuan twisted violently, his golden eye radiating an aura of chaos and knowledge, warping everything around him.

His body shifted.

His black hair, once pure in color, now held golden threads woven into the strands, faintly glowing under the dim morning light. His right eye remained bloody red, but it was no longer just a simple color. It radiated something deeper, something soaked in death and destruction.

His left eye remained golden, its surface shifting with unreadable ancient text, holding endless knowledge and chaos.

Then, as suddenly as it had come, the pressure vanished.

His Martial Souls faded back into his body, and the warping space stilled. The room was silent, the scent of incense still lingering, but everything felt different.

Fang Yuan sat there, breathing heavily, sweat dripping down his forehead. He felt different. The knowledge that had flooded his mind did not disappear. It remained, whispering in the back of his consciousness. His thoughts were no longer the same.

He looked up, expecting to see his grandfather's excitement.

Instead, there was silence.

Jinhai was still, his usual composure shaken. Tianhong clenched his fists, his lips pressed into a thin line.

After a long pause, Jinhai spoke, his voice careful. "We will check your Spirit Power."

The clear crystal was placed in Fang Yuan's hands. He closed his eyes, guiding his energy into it.

The crystal flashed brilliantly, filling the room with radiant light.

Jinhai's fingers curled tightly around his cane. Tianhong inhaled slowly.

"Innate Full Spirit Power. Rank 10," his grandfather stated, his voice oddly quiet.

It was surprising, but for a moment, neither of them reacted.

Fang Yuan understood.

His Martial Souls were beyond the limit of what the world knew. A mere number could not measure them.

Power was not just in numbers.

Power was in what numbers could never measure.

He exhaled slowly, the golden glow in his eye dimming.

His father and grandfather said nothing for a long time. Then, finally, Tianhong spoke.

"Rest for now. There is much to discuss later."

Fang Yuan did not argue. He stood, turning toward the door, his mind still shifting with chaotic thoughts.

Everything was different now.

And he would never be the same again.
