After Lin Yongming sat down, Blue Silver Empress leaned in curiously, her eyes fixed on him.
"Xiao Ming, tell me, what nightmare did you have? You look a bit off," Blue Silver Empress asked, her sharp intuition telling her that the nightmare was significant.
"Uh... can I not talk about it?" Lin Yongming replied cautiously.
How could Lin Yongming possibly explain? Should he say, "Evil spirit, I've long seen through your true nature"?
"Do you think you can avoid it? You were so nervous, hugging me and saying, 'A'Yin, don't leave!'" Blue Silver Empress said, crossing her arms with a hint of pride.
"Uh... I just dreamed that one day you'd get tired of me being blind and leave me. That's all. So when I woke up, I couldn't help but say those words," Lin Yongming stammered.
"Really? Just that?" Blue Silver Empress asked skeptically.
"Of course! When have I ever lied to you?" Lin Yongming said, patting his chest with a righteous expression.
"Who knows? Sometimes your actions are hard to understand," Blue Silver Empress huffed.
"Really, I'm just afraid that one day I'll become completely useless, unable to sense anything, and you'll leave me out of disappointment," Lin Yongming said earnestly.
"Don't say that! Even if that day comes, I won't leave you. You'll always be the strong and determined Xiao Ming in my heart," Blue Silver Empress said anxiously, placing her finger on Lin Yongming's lips to stop him from continuing.
"A'Yin!" Lin Yongming looked deeply moved, reaching out to embrace Blue Silver Empress.
"Xiao Ming, don't overthink it. Once I've decided on you, I won't change my mind," Blue Silver Empress replied with equal sincerity.
"Alright, I won't think about it anymore. Dreams are just the opposite of reality. We'll grow old together," Lin Yongming said, changing the subject before he ran out of lies to tell.
He felt a bit guilty for lying so much.
"Mm, we will," Blue Silver Empress said seriously, resting her head on Lin Yongming's shoulder.
Lin Yongming let her lean on him, and for a while, they sat in silence.
As the sounds outside the window gradually faded and the night deepened, Lin Yongming finally spoke.
"A'Yin, let's leave tomorrow and head to the Sunset Forest."
"So soon? Don't you need to stabilize your spirit power first?" Blue Silver Empress asked, lifting her head in surprise.
"It'll take a few days to reach the Sunset Forest. I think I can stabilize my spirit power during our rest stops at night. Plus, didn't we agree to fly there? Using up my spirit power and then recovering will help me stabilize my level," Lin Yongming said, feeling a sense of urgency.
Originally, they had planned to stay in the royal city for a couple more days, but Lin Yongming's breakthrough and the nightmare had left him with a lingering sense of crisis.
"Alright, but don't push yourself too hard. Let's take our time and enjoy the scenery on the way. I'm worried you might develop unstable foundations," Blue Silver Empress said, still concerned about Lin Yongming's cultivation.
"Mm, that's what I was thinking too," Lin Yongming nodded. "It's getting late. Let's rest."
"Alright. You've already slept for four or five hours. If you can't sleep, meditate to stabilize your spirit power," Blue Silver Empress said, glancing out the window before nodding.
"Got it!" Lin Yongming replied.
Then, Blue Silver Empress did something unexpected. She leaned in and kissed Lin Yongming lightly on the cheek.
"Goodnight. This is your reward for today's celebration," Blue Silver Empress said, her face turning red as she quickly got up and ran to her room.
"Bang!" The sound of the door closing snapped Lin Yongming out of his daze.
"Goodnight," Lin Yongming said softly, touching the spot where Blue Silver Empress had kissed him.
Back in her room, Blue Silver Empress leaned against the door, her heart racing.
"Ah, that was so embarrassing!" she muttered, her face flushed.
She then buried her face in her pillow, feeling both guilty and exhilarated. Despite her many experiences, this was the first time she had ever kissed someone like that, and she couldn't calm her racing heart.
Meanwhile, Lin Yongming sat alone on the couch for a while before finally returning to his room. Unable to sleep, he sat cross-legged on his bed and began cultivating his spirit power.
It wasn't until midnight that Lin Yongming finally drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Lin Yongming woke up and stretched, opening his bedroom door to find the living room empty.
He sensed Blue Silver Empress's presence and realized she was still in her room, asleep.
"Huh... what time did she finally fall asleep? It's rare for her to sleep in like this," Lin Yongming thought, deciding not to disturb her. He went to the bathroom to freshen up.
Afterward, Lin Yongming left the hotel and bought some breakfast from a street vendor, bringing it back to their room.
When he returned, Blue Silver Empress was still asleep. Lin Yongming walked to her bedroom door and knocked.
"A'Yin! Time to wake up. The sun's already up," Lin Yongming called out.
Two minutes later, he heard movement from inside the room. "Ah! I'm getting up now."
Lin Yongming sat back on the couch, and soon Blue Silver Empress emerged, her hair slightly messy and still in her pajamas. She glanced at the sunlight streaming through the balcony.
"A'Yin, you slept in today. That's rare," Lin Yongming teased.
"Hmph, you should've woken me up earlier. I wouldn't have slept so late otherwise," Blue Silver Empress said, looking a bit groggy.
"How about this: after breakfast, you can go back to sleep. We can leave in the afternoon and reach the next city before dark," Lin Yongming suggested.
"No need. You're the one doing the flying, so I can just nap along the way," Blue Silver Empress said, stretching.
"Alright, then go wash up and eat. I bought breakfast from the street. It smells great," Lin Yongming said, opening the food containers.
"Oh! You're starting to take care of people now. My little Xiao Ming is really growing up," Blue Silver Empress teased as she glanced at the breakfast.
"Uh... hurry up before it gets cold," Lin Yongming said, feeling a bit helpless.
"Got it," Blue Silver Empress nodded.
After washing up, Blue Silver Empress sat down next to Lin Yongming, still in her pajamas, and started eating.
"What's this? I've never seen it before," Blue Silver Empress asked, looking at the round, white balls in her bowl.
"The vendor said they're called tangyuan," Lin Yongming explained.
"Tangyuan? They look delicious. Let me try," Blue Silver Empress said, picking one up with her chopsticks.
"Wow! It's sweet and chewy. Xiao Ming, you should try it too," Blue Silver Empress said after taking a bite, her eyes lighting up with delight.
"Alright," Lin Yongming said, having bought the tangyuan out of curiosity after hearing the vendor's description. He was surprised to find that they tasted just like the ones from his previous life.
Within ten minutes, Blue Silver Empress had eaten over a dozen tangyuan. "I'm so full. I ate too much for breakfast."
"A'Yin, if you like them so much, you can have the rest," Lin Yongming said, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sweetness.
"Sure," Blue Silver Empress said, finishing the remaining tangyuan without hesitation.
After resting for a while to digest, Blue Silver Empress got up and went to her room to change out of her pajamas.
Once they had packed their belongings, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Empress checked out of the hotel.
"A'Yin, you guide the way. I'll carry you."
Once outside the city, Lin Yongming asked Blue Silver Empress to direct him.
"Mm, keep heading north," Blue Silver Empress said, consulting the map. The Heaven Dou Empire was to the north, and the Sunset Forest was located about a hundred miles outside Heaven Dou City.
"Got it. Purple Lightning Wings!" Lin Yongming summoned his Purple Lightning Wings and, in a practiced motion, picked up Blue Silver Empress in a princess carry before taking off in the direction she indicated.
It had been nearly a year since Lin Yongming had last used his external spirit bone, the Purple Lightning Wings, as he had been staying in Thunderstorm Village.
"Xiao Ming, I'm going to take a nap. Just keep flying in this direction," Blue Silver Empress said, resting her head against Lin Yongming's chest.
"Alright, no problem," Lin Yongming nodded.
Lin Yongming flew at a moderate speed, faster than a carriage but not too fast.
With Blue Silver Empress dozing off, the journey was quiet and peaceful.
By around three in the afternoon, Lin Yongming had flown past a small town and continued north.
Not long after, Blue Silver Empress woke up.
"Xiao Ming, how long have we been flying?" Blue Silver Empress asked, noticing the sun beginning to set in the west.
"About five hours. We passed a small town not long ago," Lin Yongming replied.
"We passed a town? Let me check the map," Blue Silver Empress said, pulling out the map.
"According to the map, after the town, the next stop is a secondary city in the Silvers Kingdom, about the size of Suotuo City. At this speed, we should reach it by six. Let's rest there tonight," Blue Silver Empress said after studying the map.
"Alright, sounds good," Lin Yongming agreed.
As Blue Silver Empress had predicted, they arrived at the secondary city, Lingdou City, just before dusk.
Landing outside the city, Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Empress walked into Lingdou City, had dinner, and found a hotel near the restaurant.
After a long day of flying, Lin Yongming was mentally exhausted and went to bed early. Blue Silver Empress, catching up on the sleep she had missed the previous night, also went to bed early.
The next morning, after breakfast and packing some food for lunch, they set off again.
Over the next three days, they traveled leisurely, eventually leaving the Silvers Kingdom and entering the territory of the Heaven Dou Empire.
Between the next city in the Heaven Dou Empire lay a vast, desolate area.
"Xiao Ming, be careful. I've heard this barren area is home to many bandit groups, and there might even be the infamous Wolf Raiders," Blue Silver Empress warned as they flew over the yellowish-brown wasteland.
"Got it," Lin Yongming nodded, focusing on flying.
Following Blue Silver Empress's advice, Lin Yongming increased his speed compared to the previous days. After about an hour, they reached the central area of the wasteland.
"Xiao Ming, there's movement up ahead. It looks like a caravan is under attack," Blue Silver Empress said, spotting a group of people fighting in the distance.
"A'Yin, should we help or go around?" Lin Yongming asked.
"Since we've come across it, let's take a look. We'll help if we can," Blue Silver Empress said, her kind heart urging her to assist.
"Alright, I agree," Lin Yongming nodded, heading toward the commotion. Soon, they landed quietly at a distance.
"Xiao Ming, I see them clearly now. It's the vicious Wolf Raiders, but there aren't many—about twenty or so. The caravan only has six spirit masters," Blue Silver Empress said, her expression serious.
In the world of Douluo Continent, Wolf Raiders were not ordinary bandits. They were a hybrid of humans and wolves, possessing both human intelligence and the ferocity of beasts. They were notoriously brutal and difficult to deal with.
"I see them too. The Wolf Raiders' strength varies, but a few are stronger than us. The rest are at the Great Spirit Master and Spirit Elder levels. The caravan has two Spirit Kings—one at level 52 and another at level 59—along with three Spirit Elders and one level 9 Spirit Scholar," Lin Yongming observed.
"Xiao Ming, those two Spirit Kings seem stronger than average. Their spirits look powerful—some kind of hammer. What's it called again?"
"Haotian Hammer," Lin Yongming said suddenly.
"That's it, the Haotian Hammer," Blue Silver Empress confirmed.
"I didn't expect to run into disciples of the Haotian Sect. They don't look much older than us. I wonder which disciples they are," Lin Yongming thought to himself.
"A'Yin, now that we know their strengths, let's go help them. Even if we can't wipe out the Wolf Raiders, we can at least help drive them off," Lin Yongming suggested.
"Alright, let's go," Blue Silver Empress nodded.
"Big Brother, Second Brother, be careful!" a young girl, the level 9 Spirit Scholar, shouted anxiously at the two young men wielding Haotian Hammers.
"Little Sister, stay back! It's dangerous," one of the young men called out, turning to look at her.
Suddenly, a Wolf Raider slipped past the two young men and lunged at the girl in the light blue dress.
"Little Sister!" the two young men shouted in alarm.
The Wolf Raider, showing no mercy, swung its claw at the girl.
"Ah!" the girl screamed, closing her eyes in fear.
"Third Spirit Skill, Blue Silver Bind!" Seeing someone about to die at the hands of a Wolf Raider, Blue Silver Empress quickly used her Blue Silver Vines to restrain the Wolf Raider's arm.
"First Spirit Skill, Thunderlight Slash!" Lin Yongming appeared nearby, his Thunderblade in hand, and launched a lightning-infused slash at the Wolf Raider.
"Boom!" The Wolf Raider fell to the ground, the vines still wrapped around it.
Lin Yongming leaped into the air, landing above the Wolf Raider, and drove his blade into its heart.
"Miss, are you okay?" Blue Silver Empress asked, withdrawing her vines and walking over to the girl.
"Thank you, thank you, Sister," the girl said, looking up at Blue Silver Empress with gratitude.
"You're welcome. Stay back," Blue Silver Empress nodded, then joined Lin Yongming.
