Douluo Starting with the Chaos Divine Examination

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Triggering a Hidden Quest

"Ding dong!"

"The system reports to the host: when others experience emotions because of the host, the system can convert those emotions into soul power needed for the host's upgrade."

"Is it really possible?" Mu Chen was astonished.

"Ding dong!"

"Yes, host. After all, emotions are also a form of energy. The system kindly reminds you that when the other party has a higher status and strength, the emotional energy you gain will be greater."

"So, since Xiao Meimei is only a Level 20 Soul Master, I only received one point of soul power from her," Mu Chen mused.

"Ding dong!"

"That's correct, host."

"I see. But system, I opened the new player gift package and obtained the Nine Trials of Chaos. Why didn't I receive any benefits or relevant assessment content?" Mu Chen continued to question.

"Ding dong!"

"Host, regarding the assessment content, the system has converted it into a task. You can view the task interface for details."

"System, open the task interface," Mu Chen commanded.

**Chaos Nine Trials - First Trial:** Enter Notting City's Junior Soul Master Academy and undergo six years of systematic learning. **Reward:** An external soul bone.

"The first trial actually rewards an external soul bone. The assessment is simply to enter Notting City's Junior Soul Master Academy and undergo six years of systematic learning. This is practically a freebie!" Mu Chen thought to himself, but then he questioned his own thoughts.

The divine tests, especially the top-tier ones, are known to be the most difficult. Could it really be that simple?

"Mu Chen, the doors are about to close," Xiao Wu reminded him softly.

"Right, let's head out!" Mu Chen said, quickly following Xiao Meimei, who was almost at the door.

"Master, are there any children from our village who might become soul masters this year?" the village chief asked, stopping Xiao Meimei just as she exited the Martial Soul Hall.

"There are a couple of them. One has innate full soul power, and the other has level three soul power," Xiao Meimei replied honestly.

"Innate full soul power?"

The village chief paused, then said, "Are you saying there are two children who can become soul masters?"

"Yes," Xiao Meimei confirmed, handing the prepared certificates to the village chief.

"Mu Chen! Xiao Wu!"

The village chief looked at the certificates in his hand, murmuring their names.

"Village chief, did you call for me?" Mu Chen approached the village chief after closing the doors of the Martial Soul Hall.

"Child, would you like to attend the Junior Soul Master Academy in Notting City for your studies?" the village chief asked.

"I would like to," Mu Chen responded.

"Good boy. I knew I didn't misjudge you. Your talent is indeed impressive. Xiao Wu, would you like to attend a specialized soul master academy for your studies?" The village chief turned his gaze to Xiao Wu.

"Me?" Xiao Wu's expression shifted slightly.

"Yes, only there will you find the most accurate knowledge about martial souls. Although our village has only one work-study position available, I'm willing to make a trip to Notting City to secure another position for you. As for travel expenses, our village will cover it!" the village chief declared generously.

"Are there Soul Douluos or stronger soul masters there?" Xiao Wu asked seriously.

"At the Junior Soul Master Academy, the strongest would be around Level 40. If you join the Martial Soul Hall Academy, with your talent, you could potentially become a seed candidate. You would then receive guidance from Soul Douluos or even Title Douluos," Xiao Meimei seized the opportunity to persuade Xiao Wu.

"Alright, then I will join the Junior Soul Master Academy in Notting City to study, just like Mu Chen!" Xiao Wu replied with a smile.

Uh-oh!

Xiao Meimei's expression turned to one of shock. Despite all the benefits she had mentioned, Xiao Wu still chose the lesser Junior Soul Master Academy. Of course, Xiao Meimei could never imagine that Xiao Wu was not human but the embodiment of the ten-thousand-year soul beast, Soft Bone Rabbit.

Xiao Wu's question about the Junior Soul Master Academy and the presence of Soul Douluos was not out of hope for their guidance but to avoid revealing her true identity.

"Haha, wonderful! Our Emperor Soul Village has produced two potential soul masters this time. I'll see if Old Jack can still be so proud in front of me," the village chief said with a radiant smile.

**A Month Later, Heaven Dou Empire, Notting City**

"Mu Chen, village chief, this place is so beautiful!"

Xiao Wu spun around, marveling at everything, clearly excited like a child in a candy store. She was fascinated by the human world.

After a month, Xiao Wu had become more open and could interact freely with humans, no longer shy or resistant.

"Xiao Wu, Mu Chen, you two must listen to the teachers at the academy. Never leave the academy without permission. Uncle will come to pick you up once the semester ends," the village chief said with a smile.

"Mm." Mu Chen nodded.

"Village chief, are you leaving so soon?" Xiao Wu asked reluctantly, gazing at the kind middle-aged man.

"Yes, we can't afford to stay at a hotel. You both must do your best. I hope the next time I come to pick you up, you will both have become soul masters. That way, our Emperor Soul Village will be proud of you. Hehe…" The village chief chuckled.

"I will, village chief," Mu Chen promised.

Following the directions of passersby, Mu Chen, Xiao Wu, and the village chief arrived at the entrance of the Junior Soul Master Academy in Notting City.

Standing at the entrance, they could see some Western-style buildings inside. At the entrance, a young man was brushing dust off his clothes. When he saw Mu Chen, Xiao Wu, and the village chief approaching, he walked to the door, his gaze flicking over the three, noting that they didn't seem wealthy.

"Get lost, get lost, get lost! This is the Junior Soul Master Academy, not a place for country bumpkins!" the young man mocked.

As he spoke, he closed the iron gate, pushing Mu Chen and the others out.

The village chief smiled and said, "This young man, we come from Emperor Soul Village. These two children are work-study students sent by the village. We have a certificate from Xiao Meimei of the Martial Soul Hall. Could you please check if we need to complete any procedures?"

"Emperor Soul Village? Just now, a Holy Soul Village came, and now another Emperor Soul Village? Next, will there be a King Soul Village, Sect Soul Village, and Noble Soul Village? Do you really think a grass hut can produce a phoenix? Get lost, get lost! Don't dirty my ground here!" The young man, having just been reprimanded by someone, was looking for an outlet for his frustration.

"Young man, if you don't believe me, just look at this certificate. A certificate from the Martial Soul Hall can't possibly be fake!" The village chief pulled out two certificates and handed them to the gatekeeper.

"Oh, two at once? One with level three soul power and the other with innate full soul power? No way, another innate full soul power? Do you think I'm stupid? I've been guarding this gate for four years and haven't seen a work-study student in ages. Suddenly, two come at once, one being innate full soul power. I suspect these certificates are forged!" The young man sneered, tossing the papers to the ground.

"You… you're being unreasonable! I'll go find Xiao Meimei. Just wait here!" The village chief was furious.

"Hmph, go ahead. What are you wearing? Emperor Soul Village? I think you're from Beggar Village!" The young man was clearly looking to vent his anger, and he continued to mock the village chief.

"What… what did you say!" the village chief shouted angrily.

"I said you come from Beggar Village. Is there a problem? Look at your poor appearance; the stench of country bumpkins is overwhelming. If you want to beg, go elsewhere. Our academy is not a charity hall. Get lost, hurry up!" The young man pushed the village chief away forcefully.

"Ding dong!"

"Congratulations! You have triggered a hidden quest for the first trial of the Nine Trials of Chaos: Defeat the gatekeeper of Notting City's Junior Soul Master Academy and leave him searching for his teeth. Completing the task will reward you with the Eight Extremes Fist."
