Chapter 19: The Po Clan's Development

Hearing this, his mother, Niu Jinfeng, spoke up. "Son, do you think your grandfather spoils you?"

"Yes, Mom. Grandpa treats me very well."

"Then, would you mind sharing the secret of the whale gelatin with your grandpa?"

Yang Potian considered this for a moment. "Mom, while the effects of whale gelatin are potent, it works best on the first use. It's not exactly a big secret. Telling Grandpa should be fine, but it's best if he keeps it to himself. Otherwise, the price of whale gelatin might skyrocket, and even we might not be able to afford it."

His father, Yang Zhentian, and mother, Niu Jinfeng, both nodded in agreement.

The next day was a gathering of the Four Single-Attribute Clans, marking the official celebration of the Po Clan's relocation and its establishment as a small but significant power.

At the gathering, the Po Clan was represented by Yang Wudi, Yang Wushuang, Yang Zhentian, and Yang Potian. Each of the other three clans was represented by three or four members as well. The Li Clan's leader, Tai Tan, attended with his son Tai Nuo and grandson Tai Long, while Bai He from the Min Clan arrived with his son and grandson. Finally, Niu Gao, head of the Yu Clan, brought his son and grandson.

Niu Jinfeng was also present, her main role being to watch over the four young ones as they played.

These four children, being close in age, became fast friends—a positive outcome for the clans' future. The Four Single-Attribute Clans, after all, functioned as a small alliance, stronger when united.

To everyone's surprise, all four children were five years old. The Min Clan's child was named Bai Xiaofei, while the Yu Clan's child was called Niu Meng. Going by age, Yang Potian was the eldest, Niu Meng the second, Tai Long the third, and Bai Xiaofei the youngest. Despite their different personalities, they quickly bonded. Yang Potian noted that Niu Meng was a bit simple-minded, Tai Long was bold and forthright, and Bai Xiaofei was observant and thoughtful.

After the gathering, Niu Jinfeng quietly met with her father, likely to discuss the unique properties of whale gelatin. By the time they were finished, Niu Gao couldn't stop praising his clever grandson, even joking about taking Yang Potian with him.

Meanwhile, Yang Zhentian sought out his own father, Yang Wudi.

"Father, I've advanced to level 72."

Yang Wudi looked at his son approvingly. "Well done, Zhentian. Despite everything going on, you've stayed committed to your training. I'll feel more at ease if you're the one to lead the Po Clan in the future."

Yang Zhentian shook his head modestly. "Father, I should reach level 73 within the month."

Hearing this, Yang Wudi grew serious. "Son, I know the family's situation is demanding right now, but be sure you're not using methods that overdraw your potential just to increase your spirit power."

Feeling slightly exasperated, Yang Zhentian finally explained the situation with the whale gelatin to his father.

Yang Wudi listened intently, his face growing serious. "Are you certain of all this? Does whale gelatin truly have these benefits?"

"Father, would I lie about something this important? Jinfeng used it and advanced to level 64, and her cultivation speed has noticeably increased."

Yang Wudi eyed his son knowingly. "So, this is why there were rumors about you needing whale gelatin. You spread that story to buy more of it, didn't you?"

Yang Zhentian sighed. "Father, with such good results, I wanted to stock up. My son will need it someday too."

"Then why didn't you tell everyone at the Four Clan gathering?" Yang Wudi pressed.

"Though the four clans are close, the war with the Clear Sky Clan showed me that we can't rely entirely on anyone else. That's why I withheld the information. Yesterday, though, Jinfeng probably already shared it with her father, Niu Gao."

"Son, it seems you've learned much from the recent events. We trusted too much in the Clear Sky Clan and paid a heavy price for it."

"Let's share the details of the whale gelatin with the elders in the clan. It could be of great help as we rebuild."

With that, Yang Wudi called a meeting of the clan's elders. As they heard the news, everyone was stunned by the remarkable properties of whale gelatin.

Some of the elders couldn't help but recall the recent rumors about Yang Zhentian's health and found it amusing. They muttered among themselves: "So, the kid bought all that whale gelatin for the clan's benefit, even at the cost of his reputation. That's dedication."

Yang Wudi interrupted the chatter. "There are two matters to settle. First, we must keep the effects of whale gelatin strictly within the Po Clan. I'll speak with Niu Gao and ensure both clans keep this a secret. Second, since whale gelatin is costly, I'll need you, Second Brother, to make a trip to Hanhai City, where it's easier to acquire and cheaper. Just be discreet."

Hearing the clan leader's words, everyone expressed their commitment to keep the secret. Any younger member needing whale gelatin in the future would report to the clan beforehand.

Finally, everyone turned their attention to Yang Zhentian. Having bought a considerable supply of whale gelatin under the guise of personal need, he was asked to temporarily share some of it with the clan to enhance their overall strength.

Yang Wushuang couldn't resist saying, "Nephew, why not let us borrow your supply of whale gelatin to test its effects? That way, I'll know what quality to buy when I reach Hanhai City."

Yang Zhentian was speechless; what did "testing" have to do with buying more? But with the request coming from his uncle, he could hardly refuse. Reluctantly, he brought out a few of the pieces he'd stored away.

Seeing the high quality of the pieces, the elders couldn't help but joke, "Is this kid truly struggling with his health? Look how much he's hoarded! And these pieces are some of the best out there."

In the end, Yang Zhentian promoted his son a little. "Actually, it was my son, Yang Potian, who discovered the effects of whale gelatin while studying old texts."

Hearing this, everyone started praising Yang Potian.

"This boy is as clever as I've always thought. He's got a bright future ahead of him."

"The Po Clan's talents usually focus on alchemy. Finally, someone with a passion for reading."

"Potian has done a great service for the clan. We'll have to commend him."

Yang Wushuang added, "Nephew, rest assured. When Potian grows up, I'll back him as the Po Clan's future leader."

Zhentian felt gratified, though slightly puzzled. Wait—back my son as clan leader? What does that make me?
