Chapter 3: Chapter 3 — A Woman's Sudden Arrival—Mission Failed?
As the Soul King-level, rotund attacker moved, many bystanders chuckled, eagerly awaiting a spectacle. They were certain they'd witness the fall of Lu Yunzhou, the youthful "nobody" who dared interfere.
No one lifted a finger to help. To them, aiding a commoner wasn't worth angering a merchant affiliated with the esteemed Seven Treasures Commerce Guild. This so-called "commoner" was no more than a weed at the roadside to these noble Soul Masters—a nuisance to be trampled upon without a second thought. So, the crowd watched, indifferent to whether Lu Yunzhou lived or died.
From afar, a luxurious carriage had also taken notice. Seeing the Soul King poised to strike, the coachman muttered, "Is that boy a fool? He's not even a Soul Master yet thinks he can move that stone. And now, he's gone and provoked someone from the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect."
The driver's expression twisted, hiding a glint in his eye as he turned back to address someone within the carriage. "Your Highness, should I intervene to save that young fool?"
"Please do," replied a refined voice from within, courteous yet undeniably commanding.
"Understood, Your Highness," the coachman replied, nodding with a faint smile.
But before he could act, someone else stepped forward—unexpectedly, a woman.
She wore a simple, azure dress, her black hair pinned back with a modest cloth. Her features were exquisite, her gaze sharp and full of life. Beneath her modest attire was a figure of striking strength and poise. She appeared to be in her early thirties.
The woman moved with lightning speed, her right arm deflecting the Soul King's thousand-year Spirit Skill as if it were nothing. With a quick hook, she sent the bulky man flying backward.
The crowd gasped in shock. Was this woman crazy? Defying the Seven Treasures Commerce Guild so boldly—did she not fear the wrath of the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect?
Her sharp gaze swept over the crowd as seven powerful Soul Rings—yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black—emerged beneath her feet. This elegant woman was no less than a Soul Saint!
"Attacking a defenseless commoner and even attempting to take his life—is this the style of the Seven Treasures Commerce Guild?" she asked, her tone icy.
Turning to Lu Yunzhou, she sighed and continued, "And you, young man…"
"Why did you come here to cause trouble?" She shook her head, exasperated. "You heard what they said, didn't you? If you're not a Soul Saint, don't waste your time here. Yet here you are, not even a Soul Master, and you dared to try lifting that stone. Are you mad?"
Finished with her scolding, the woman turned back to the Soul King, a fierce aura surrounding her.
"I'll move this Cold Starstone for you. As for this young man, he is now under my protection. You will not hold a grudge, nor will you lay a hand on him again. Is that clear?"
The Soul King, feeling the overwhelming force of her soul power, quickly nodded, muttering, "Y-yes, ma'am." He wiped the blood trickling from his mouth, his face twisted with resentment.
Among the onlookers, murmurs quickly broke out.
"Who is this woman? So brazen, and she doesn't even fear the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect?"
"That's the dean of the Blue Tyrant Academy, Liu Erlong. I've heard she's related to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan."
"That explains it! No wonder she isn't afraid of the guild's backing."
"The boy's luck is remarkable. He was saved just in time."
Amid the chatter, Liu Erlong, now fully prepared, began her task of moving the enormous Cold Starstone. With the strength and determination expected of a Soul Saint with a beast Martial Soul, she examined the stone thoroughly and loosened her muscles, readying herself.
Seeing Liu Erlong take action, Lu Yunzhou decided to step back, ignoring the scornful looks and dismissive comments from the crowd. He turned his gaze to the Soul King who had been so eager to kill him earlier, locking his eyes on him coldly.
The Soul King met his glare with one of his own, even making a menacing throat-slitting gesture to show his intent.
Lu Yunzhou smirked. "Idiot."
His scornful remark, seemingly as dismissive as the brush-off from a skilled brawler, left the Soul King speechless and visibly flustered, as though the insult alone had subdued him.
The crowd erupted in laughter.
"Hahaha! This kid, how can he be so bold? He's not even a Soul Master, and he just insulted a Soul King to his face!"
"Remember? He's supposed to be a fool! The kind who fears nothing!"
"Yeah, and he must be insane to believe he could move that massive stone without soul power. Pure strength? That's absurd!"
Some skeptics muttered that perhaps he was born with extraordinary strength, but most dismissed it outright.
While the crowd taunted and speculated, Liu Erlong activated her seventh Spirit Skill, True Form of the Fire Dragon. Instantly, a surge of intense flames erupted from her skin, igniting her aura. The flames boosted her power, and with a final, full-bodied effort, she successfully shifted the Cold Starstone, clearing the path.
The crowd cheered and praised her, singing her accomplishments.
"Dean Liu truly is unstoppable! To her, even a ten-thousand-jin boulder is no obstacle!"
"She's a true hero among women, rivaling any man!"
"Dean Liu! A true model for us all!"
With the stone moved, Lu Yunzhou's attempt was effectively… a failure.
